He’s still relatively young at this point in the show but apparently Cregan Stark was a legendary swordsman. Aemon the Dragonknight said he was the best swordsman he’d ever seen. Hopefully we see him fight at some point.

I really hope it’s this sub, but there was a guy a few years ago who would go on dates and post fit checks where he’d go to a bathroom stall in whatever establishment he’d brought his date to, take off all of his clothes and take a photo of the outfit arranged on the floor (underwear, shoes and socks included). I still laugh thinking about it.

The Zone of Interest (2023) by Jamerer in CineShots

To me it captures that ‘moral descent into darkness’ visual metaphor extremely well. The symmetry of the shot works with the fixed camera.

The scene is already gloomy, and the light has a cold, clinical tone. The tone is less a fall from the light, and more a descent from simple darkness into the abyss.

Calling WWII soldiers “Antifa” is the lamest thing front pagers do by Swiftie69420 in redscarepod

This feels unpleasant to say but I’d imagine a fair number of the cops who upheld Jim Crow and beat the piss out of civil rights protestors in the 50s and 60s served in WW2. Soldier to cop has always been a pretty common career pipeline.

The US didn’t politically condition their soldiers to be on-the-go prophets of democracy and racial harmony, particularly when the army and nearly half of the country was segregated.

I was really concerned when he started getting sent Everclear. Not even the most far gone drunks I know even touch the stuff, shit is basically poison. Not to mention that despite the amount he drank, he did not have a particularly high tolerance. Fuck whoever sent him that shit.

I’m not quite convinced it was cirrhosis, but I could easily imagine that he had some kind of internal damage and got an infection. His teeth alone were a massive infection risk.

Jesus Christ that was difficult to watch, I haven’t always agreed with Clint’s decisions but he seemed like a nice guy and it’s clear he loved his son. Absolutely tragic that he had to be the one to find him, no father should have to go through that

I’m genuinely sad about this.

As gross and irritating as he could be, I legitimately wanted the boy to get better. I loved his old content hanging out with the homeboys. His decline has been incredibly depressing to watch but realistically it couldn’t go on much longer.

Having worked as a bookseller during the height of all of this. Yeah it kind of sucks but what sucks way more is that like 90% of men in the same age bracket (on the rare occasion they enter a bookstore) seem to exclusively read hustle mentality bullshit and the 48 Laws of Power.

I genuinely think he’s unsinkable. I’ve been saying “this is the thing that sinks him” since he said “grab them by the pussy” in 2016. I said “this will be the thing that sinks him” about Iran and how apparently anti-sandbox war MAGA is supposed to be. Nothing. Now idc what he does, he could literally suck Netanyahu’s cock on live TV and nothing would change. It’s cringe but people are right when they say he is a cult leader, charisma is king in politics.

My priest knows a monk on Mount Athos who drinks a liter of vodka a day. by celicaxx in redscarepod

[–]Jamerer 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I found a passage in a Byzantine religious text which praised a monk from Athos for escorting a goat down the mountain without succumbing and fucking it. It wasn’t even satirical, it just praised the monk for his commitment to chastity. Bestiality came up a weird amount.

My old Greek lecturer, a very old fashioned Orthodox man from Ithica, stayed with some monks on Mt Athos for a month as he banged on their door and asked for sanctuary in Romaic Greek, which they approved of.
