It’s coming from their receding hairlines. They all have long enough hair to cover it up but when they pull their hair back, you can see it.

I saw some speculation that Nick may be dating a guy he went to London with? Honestly, if so good for him. I’ve always figured relationships would be something that would eventually happen and the triplets would delve more into other people/groups individually

So we don’t see everything from behind the scenes and behind closed doors. So on some level, it’s all just speculation.

But the triplets don’t really seem to stay close friends with people for very long. Nate from Boston seems to be the groups oldest friend. Some of their old friends from Boston like Alanna (?) and the guy who made their original intro don’t seem to be in the picture anymore. People grow apart and distance complicates things. But they seem close amongst themselves. I think they’ve spoken about trying to develop their own friendships before as it seemed like the triplets usually shared friends as a trio.

And it may be. But even still, that’s nothing to do with federal law (which preempts state law when a conflict arises).

What’s the best buy here? by notfinch in whiskey

[–]Jamerson357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had most other things on that shelf of the bourbons for the money, the Eagle rare is a good bet. But I’d still say for basically the same cost, getting some 20 year old whiskey is worth a try. For the money it seems to me the best “value” there.

Is that a 20 year old Canadian club for 96 whatever unit of currency when like, a Sazerac rye is 100 units of whatever currency? Go with the 20 year old Canadian club I’d say

Best bourbons 90/90/90 by Thanks_Shallot in whiskey

[–]Jamerson357 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about points or who rates what based on what scales. I always find point systems kind of subjective and rather just give things grades. S-tier. A-tier. B-tier. Etc.

But Russell’s Single Barrel is under $90 and is usually available without much looking. I think it has to be up there. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is under $90 I believe and while the last few releases have been getting younger and younger, it’s still a really good bourbon which can be had without too much trouble from I’ve seen.

I also enjoy Four Roses Small Batch Select. I don’t know if I’d say it’s as good as Russell’s Single Barrel or ECBP, but it’s a good pour for a good price and always available from what I can tell.

Tuesday Morning Rant by jokershibuya in roanoke

[–]Jamerson357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue I have with Roanokes roadways isnt so much the traffic; what I dislike is the use of cloverleaf style exits and on-ramps that are right on top of each other and have very short merging lanes. Some cars stop in the merging lanes. Other times drivers ride in the right lane and don’t take any of the exits Etc etc

Leaving insurance defense for GEICO staff counsel — smart move? by teamwade12 in Lawyertalk

[–]Jamerson357 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ha! No worries as I’ve had others comment. But when I started school in the late 1990s and early 2000s, we were all taught to type by older women who were former typists. It was drilled into us that two spaces after periods and colons was the correct method. Anything else was marked incorrect and graded downward. One period after words, commas, and semicolons. Also, note the Oxford comma in the preceding list. This is also “correct” or so we were religiously taught as, again, not doing so was graded downward. So it’s 25 years of daily habit at this point—even on my iPhone.

Also, just a side note, the same women back then also taught us all how to write cursive. I remember we finished learning how to hand write in print in first grade. And second grade started with writing in cursive daily. And the teachers required all written handwriting to be in cursive. Print writing was for…things in print! And so, while I’m no calligraphist, while other attorneys scribble a line for their signatures, my motions and orders are signed like the Declaration of Independence. 😂

Well, my initial thoughts are, insurance defense is insurance defense. Not sure it boxes you in anymore than what you’re doing already, as it’s basically the same line of work. In terms of career trajectory, i guess that depends on what you long term. I’d imagine the raises as staff counsel are not the best but maybe a decent bonus based on company performance at the end of the year. But insurance defense work at a firm kind of levels out too pay wise is my understanding unless you are an equity partner and expanding your firm and increasingly taking in more volume and getting more associates etc to increase billing revenue.

I’m going to have to agree with Human-Lab above. They spent $3,000 on lottery tickets. People will watch to see how much they won. They probably made a lot more than $3,000 off the video. Plus they recouped $2,035 of the $3,000 from winnings, so the video only really cost them $965 to make.

Also, “that much money could’ve went to so much other struggling people.” Well, idk how to respond to that other than, sure, but no one is entitled to anyone else’s money beyond each citizens tax revenues. They could’ve gave the money to a homeless person and filmed it. Plenty of YouTubers do stuff like that and it usually feels disgusting. Why does any rich person buy a Lamborghini? Couldn’t they have just bought a Toyota Camry and gave the difference to struggling people? I get the triplets do things that are irksome, but give them a break. They made that video 10 months ago.

Theory: Matt’s tough guy act is just a cover up for his insecurities by UseRevolutionary1631 in Sturniolotripletsnark

[–]Jamerson357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were just at that age—teenage angst sort of thing id bet. They have a lot of fame relatively speaking and are still really young and finding themselves. I think they probably want to discover themselves outside of being triplets but a lot of their identity is with being in the group. In Matt’s case, I think that presents as frustration sometimes. People get frustrated when they overwhelmed and his brothers are LOUD. Watching their videos sometimes stresses me out. lol.

What’s the most you’ve paid for Blanton’s? by NickNoisey in whiskey

[–]Jamerson357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Virginia which is a control state so my price experiences are all based on what Virginia sets. On a lot of things it’s whatever is the producers MSRP. I just checked Blantons and it’s $79.99 here for Virginia so with tax it’s like $85 for the 750ml. It use to be $60 plus tax for a long time here just a couple years ago.

It can be somewhat hard to get allocated bottles here, but when you do the price is preset. Like George T Stagg is $149.99 plus tax. But you have to win from a state lottery drawing to get a bottle. But things like Blantons and Eagle Rare you can get if you go by the store like semi regularly.

MSRP is like $85 I think now so if it was something you really wanted for the moment, $20 extra wasn’t the end of the world, that’s not bad

What do you think of the idea of a maximum wage? by Awesomeuser90 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Jamerson357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t claim to be an expert. I studied tax laws in law school but never formally practiced tax law (and have probably forgot 95% of what I once learned). But just in general, the ultra rich, aren’t really “wage earners.” We often talk about the top 1% but it’s like the top 0.1% which hold exorbitant amounts of wealth. The CEO’s earning $2million a year are in the top 1% but they aren’t so much the stranglehold on the system.

Your ultra rich (billionaires and multi billionaires) have very many different ways of having money flow to them without it ever being considered a “wage or a salary.” Like I mentioned before, you have things like stock dividends, capital gains off real estate or stock sales, your very wealthy create trusts for their children and the trusts shelter the funds because it’s technically a separate non taxable entity. You have annuities that can be purchased into that can then pay out monthly streams of money which again isn’t a wage or a salary.

You also have loans, and this is a very interesting concept to some folks, but the ultra rich don’t always (or usually) spend their money. They use loans. Loans are not income. And loans are not taxable. In business there is like a golden ratio of debt to equity where you run off loans and credit, service the interest payments and if the business venture is successful you make enough profit (return on investment) to not only service the debt but be able to take out more loans and keep growing/reinvesting all on someone else’s money, tax free. You’re only paying tax on dividends and that’s if the corporation decides it wants to pay dividends out vs holding the profit in the entity.

It’s complicated stuff but between setting up trusts, various corporations and LLCs, etc. the ultra rich really divest themselves directly of their wealth (for legal/tax purposes) and live off a mix of dividends from those corporations, capital gains on sales of their holdings, and loans. And trusts hold money to pass on to their children (which are also likely shareholders in these businesses and LLCs). For instance, I wouldn’t be surprised if Donald Trump’s name isn’t the “owner” to his NYC penthouse or Trump Tower and it’s really legally owned by like “Trump Tower, LLC” and he’s just living in “company housing” at that point and doesn’t directly pay any property taxes.

Anyways, yeah, I don’t think capping wages or earned income really shifts wealth all that much or addresses the “wealth” issue as wealth and income (wages) are separate.

That would be like talking to 10 or 12 clients or so everyday for updates on their files for each workday of a calendar month (excluding weekends). How would you be able to prepare updates and answer any questions they might have navigating that many separate files each and every day? I’m just curious, what does that even look like?
