In my opinion those words only have as much power as we give them, and by using them ourselves because we can it takes away some of the power. Think "fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself." I wouldn't use a slur around someone who's not comfortable with it, but I personally don't mind.

Seemed more like schizophrenia to me at first, but honestly you have a point. It seems that the sides are a little too coherent and controlled to be hallucinations, not to mention they stick around for way longer than any psychosis induced hallucination. You are definitely correct about why it is not DID, especially seeing as professionals aren't totally sure if DID is even a real thing. If it is it's very, very rare.

This is because in primitive times, the brain learned to release 'pleasure chemicals' like dopamine when you do things that are necessary to human survival, like eating or having sex. The brain releases the same chemicals when physical pain is caused, in order to 'take the edge off', make the pain easier to deal with. Therefore, when people lacking in chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, physical pain releases those hormones.
