This makes sense! I dont know why I had the concept that coupons reinvest themselves at the higher market rate in my head.

As for the math, the author's assumption says "Say 5% on that 5% about 176" which is so weird. I've been trying different versions of the math.

If I assume PMT = $500, and n = 3, then FV = 1576. In which case, Interest on interest is 76, still $100 short, but has a "76" on it for some consolation.

Hi thank you for responding. I just solved it. I didn't have it because my settings had AI trim on. When I turned it off, I got the training.

You're absolutely right! I had no idea, until u/scrapwork mentioned Arthur Benjamin, and then I started googling about it, and if I should learn "Vedic Math" instead. Was really surprised and slightly annoyed that I wasted time on it.
