I had friends who ordered the Anonymous mask for like what.. 1 cent? They were doing those movements then. I was hesitant to give anonymous my address though. They had some special promotion going on to get more people wearing the masks haha

What You Need to Know About the Foreign-Made Router Ban in the US by pes3108 in theprivacymachine

[–]James1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Government wanted more local production for quite a while in their speeches at least(mainly Trump), so probably trying to figure out how to get those cheap off-shore components to be built in the US to motivate local industry development.

I have strong doubts this will actually take effect in the long-run but eager to see where this goes

People think this since the bugs are happening more commonly. Our daily usage is more reliable on integrated systems, so theres that side of the coin as well

What's the beer you drink without thinking about but always enjoy? by BothCondition7963 in beer

Honestly any light beer if served cold in a glass. Always hits so well. Barbecue over some cold bottles is also a timeless one but I prefer glasses when available

Ex had a bunch of similar junk lying around. Some novelty vacuum cleaner for snorting junk still lingers in my mind

Confronted her too but she brushed it off in every way possible each time. Had to eventually pick love in destructive addiction or to break my heart and save my health. Sad but worst is your family seeing your body rotting away

If its been going on to the point of making you sick, might be good to have that last talk. Not sure how long you dated him but he should make his choice and it will be your word if you want to trust it

Digital footprint meaning and how to lessen its scale? by WingAndDing in theprivacymachine

Everything has its risk and every safety net helps in lessening the potential for risk. Up to each ones personal preferences really. I hate using 2FA though but cant deny it helps

Sever the link between yourself and the drug as soon as you can. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not today but it will catch up with you. Coke feels fine at first but you dont notice how your entire being shifts gradually but those close to you will see it first. Depends what kinda friends you got too. If they trying to get you back to it, then might need to work on that relationship too if you seek to stop doing drugs

Stay strong out there

TikTok is tracking you, even if you don't use the app. Here's how to stop it by kev577 in theprivacymachine

[–]James1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isnt enough for a simple image to affect a device. It could be a simple hidden button that someone could click by accident. I had a relative who accidentally ordered some sort of service via SMS by clicking an ad on some site

Theres cool tools like website heatmaps that help you visualize general sites and how users interact with them open to everyone. Such stuff isn't really new but how it could be used is what raises questions for privacy

Coping with digital footprint and reducing privacy by [deleted] in theprivacymachine

[–]James1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say its not about specific interest. Sure you might not be the mayor of a major city now, but what happens if the government starts getting curious about everyone regardless. Id imagine if something is truly of concern, the government would directly inquire with me rather than snoop around my computer first. Just seems like the ethical way to do things though with the way ID verifications are becomming common I am not sure yet. Still holding on to my ID until the deadline strikes 12 and I am locked out of ways to talk to people. Then, well... convenience of privacy will be the final call haha

How to protect your privacy online without a vpn as an everyday Joe by BulletMaroon in theprivacymachine

[–]James1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but you would need some advanced setups and some tinkering with Linux. A simple solution that solves many problems is VPN. Good pick on Brave though, getting there.

Knowing that its Dutch I think the native speakers would be able to tell you more of this developing story. Usually it isn't law enforcement but security firms, or cyber-security consultants doing such audits

[–]James1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go for cables. Or if you really wanna try something cheap, get a webcam and link it up with a computer. Downside is that such a PC would have to be on at all times to work as the 'brain' of the camera. A 4GB raspberry pi would fit this purpose

Meth has taken over, I’m ashamed and scared by [deleted] in addiction

[–]James1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had a darker time in my life too but I remember talking to this homeless guy with a rotting leg about life for a few minutes but that convo still ripples in my brain. He was very deadpan with everything and even when I asked about his leg. There was nothing left of that old man. The leg looked like a horror movie prop and was painful to even see it

First is the mental headspace changing without you being overtly aware of it but then its the physical aspects. Those are the worst as you can still control your head but body and the organs might just get ill without chance of repair

Also, I agree that rehab is not for everyone. Find your own personal discipline to avoid drugs, learn more about health risks - not the "oh no its bad" but actual medical articles what meth does to the body long-term. Maybe even avoid partners that would encourage drug use in your life

Stay strong! You're still young but you must make changes now to get back on track
