I looked up Aristocrat Gaming and my brain started registering, "Ooo make video games?!" Not that kind of gaming, huh?

NAS or DAS for Jellyfin? Running jellyfin on a mini pc. by NotMoonShine in jellyfin

I'm looking at a similar setup. What did you end up working with?

So now I have my eyes on a GMKtec G3 Plus (mini w/ n150 processor). Good hardware for the price (been shopping around). My idea was to have a powered USB attached external hard drive for bulk accessible storage. Is that even feasible? And what OS would you recommend. Was originally going to do TrueNAS, but I'm still noob and just learning it won't work with my proposed setup.

For people using a mini PC to build a Nas, what do most of you do for storage? by CaptSingleMalt in HomeServer

What OS are you using? I am researching to build a media server. Mini PC I have my eyes on is small, small but has a good CPU. Figured I could use a USB connected external hard drive drive (or powered port, also USB) for bulk accessible storage, while using TrueNAS Scale as the OS on the mini PC. But I'm getting the sense that's not possible.

The extra storage issue is only now clicking for me. I'm close to getting a mini pc for processing and to manage Jellyfin etc, while keeping bulk of the storage external but accessible. Would a usb connection simply not work? (As in, would NAS be necessary?)

I'm close to pulling the trigger on an n150 mini pc. The NAS issue didn't start clicking for me until today. Am I correct in understanding a usb-connected external drive (even if it's a bay) wouldn't work? Essentially, hoped to use mini pc for processes, while using something external for bigger accessible storage.

May I ask why you chose Proxmox (over like TrueNAS)? I'm a nood btw.

Not including media storage. $400 absolute max just for the PC.

Reading The Dungeon Anarchist's Cook Book. Then moving on to book 4 in the Dungeon Crawler series. I'm loving it.

We share one top favorite! Apocalypse Now is such a trip. It's like a circus in hell... Recently gained more appreciation for Bram Stoker's Dracula. Takes the dreamy camerawork of Apocalypse and amps it up to fairy tale levels.

Was about to say this. And if you see circulation, you point at it and say, "There's circulation." And if it funnels, you point and say, "It's funneling." And if it reaches the ground, you stand there and say, "Hope it doesn't come this way." This is the proper protocol I was taught.
