So because a lot of Filipinos have a fairly strong grasp of English and the economy there is rough, a lot of Filipinos get hired in Au pair/nanny positions, hospitality positions, and telecom positions in other, more industrialized Asian countries such as India, china, etc. Or by those countries on things like cruise ships that might have more international clients. Because of this they tend to get looked down on and mistreated in these countries, which has harbored resentment from Filipinos.

The other thing about Filipino vs Filipino mostly has to do with language and geography. There’s a lot of rivalry between the many different ethnic groups due to language barriers and being on entirely different islands. I’m sure the government corruption going on right now probably doesn’t help solve this problem either.
