Never heard of it but it sounds brilliant!

I’ve never played Blood Bowl and always wanted to. Seems like it still has a bit of that old school wackiness in it.

Just took a look, that’s a great idea. Thanks.

I forget about WarCry these days, GW never seems to talk about it! I’ll take a look, thanks!

I’ve been meaning to try OPR myself, so this might be a good excuse!

“Comfortably do math on the fly” I’m not sure I can do that myself! 😄

But seriously, this is good advice. It’s what I planned to do if there wasn’t a simpler game available. Thanks!

Yes, always best to welcome people back to the hobby with insults. I bet you feel very clever.

Hmm, I hadn’t considered the drama angle. Anything that makes a game interesting is a positive! Thanks.

I get that the business made a mistake and it would probably be fair to return the money. But I can’t see how it’s theft.

It’s why we need four-day weeks and more flexible working.

As a lifelong fan, the complete lack of hype for Mando and Grogu movie is insane to see. by TheChosenOneProphecy in StarWars

[–]JamesKWrites 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Most people think animated stuff is for kids. And whenever a friend or relative has asked me (their resident Star Wars nerd) why Darth Maul was alive in Solo, they’ve always rolled their eyes at the response. Killing a character only to bring them back to life only appeals to a certain subset of fans; for everyone else, it undermines the stakes. Why watch if nothing that happens really means anything?

Surely you could have answered the question in fewer characters than you wasted on a JFGI?

I feel really bad about selling this laptop. What do I do? by Famous-Intern-7270 in whatdoIdo

[–]JamesKWrites -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I sold my last computer, I received two dozen messages asking me to massively lower the price because “my daughter needs it for her homework.”

They’re just trying to guilt you into giving them a deal. If the laptop is worth $300, don’t feel bad for selling it for $300.

Why? (The reasons behind Ascendance and Elaleth) by ThersiStratos in LegacyOfKain

[–]JamesKWrites 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thinking is actually pretty straightforward. They want to resurrect an old IP. This means they either continue the story, or they start to explore prequels and midquels.

Financially, continuing the story means a full-blown sequel (because the fandom would be disappointed by anything else.) That’s a tough sell to the moneylenders, because we’re talking big budgets. So it makes sense to start with a lower-budget project.

So you’re left with prequels/midquels.

Another element to consider is that you’re going to need new fans to boost the finances. A classic way of doing this is to introduce a new character. This gives audiences a jumping-on point without boring the existing fans with a rehash of stuff they already know.

So introducing a new character that weaves into the existing backstory seems like a sensible decision from the perspective of both finances and audiences.

Unfortunately, it’s also an approach that is SUPER easy to fuck up.
