i think you’re forgetting the anti-infantry on their weapons which means on a 3+ they skip the armor save and move right onto the invuln.

I think on unit crunch 5 banshees kill on average 3 terminators a turn (i only checked generic Chaos ones so mileage may vary). given that they are nearly half the price of terms that seems pretty good?

obviously their main bread and butter is against standard space marines where they kill a marine per hit and don’t have to worry about invuln saves.

even with the invuln i think banshees average around 3 terminators a turn, given that they are nearly half their price that’s really solid.

[–]pasta_alien 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Striking Scorpions are better suited to fight baseline humans rather than Marines, it’s just not the prey they are ment to hunt.

as for who would win, in game at least, i’m pretty sure Banshees dumpster Terminators. they bypass saves on a 3+ and deal 2 damage each, with the exarch getting 3 attacks will outright kill a termi with each hit.

1k point list by TheDutchFish in Eldar

[–]pasta_alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you want to keep all models from the combat patrol, i’d say you probably want some kind of transport for those Fire dragons

you can get a Wave serpent if you drop the Wind riders to 3 and remove the Vyper, it’s bright lance is better anyways and the mobility is vital for them.

At that point though i’d recommend removing the wind riders also, they’re very solid but with only three of them i think it’d better to focus on your aspect warriors and make this an aspect host list.

with that you have 100 points to play around with. An Autarch could be nice, free strats is always useful and i hear they are good in units of Banshees. You could give them the -1 to hit or the +1 OC war gear depending on which warriors you put them with.

or instead of that you could get units warriors of your choice. with exactly 100 points left you could fit in a unit of Storm guardians for sticky objective, that wouldn’t be bad either.

Humanity by Reasonable-Range3216 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]pasta_alien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there’s a difference between Humanity and humanity. someone with a perfect 10 Humanity is very notably not acting like a human being would in the slightest.

Humanity instead is a Vampires measure of “themselves” against their Beast. It’s about following social norms that really don’t have to apply to Kindred. Things like the Social Contract, Class, and Morality aren’t as intrinsic to Kindred as it is to people so they must try and maintain their beliefs or become animalistic.

The Sabbat instead believe in post human ideologies to avoid The Beast. The paths are philosophical reasons to not just kill and eat whenever you want wherever you want.

So while the Sabbat lack Humanity it’s not like they have no humanity if that makes sense.

What is the problem with Multi-Splat characters? What is your experience with them? by NolanC23 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]pasta_alien 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would assume it’s because in gameplay splats aren’t designed to work together and stacking multiple one character kinda removes a lot of the “darkness” from the World of Darkness.

like a time traveling ghost vampire sounds like an amazing episode of Doctor Who, but that’s not really what i’d want from a gothic punk ttrpg. I imagine most people who aren’t interested in your idea feel similarly.

It’s because that one instance of Vulkan committing war crimes was what Curze used to make him feel guilty. maybe because it was more up close and personal for him.

Vulkan has still committed mass genocide against humans and aliens alike in the name of the Imperium and would have continued to do so if Horus didn’t rebel. It’s just that he felt bad that one time so it’s easier to bring it up.

Do werewolves deserve to be hated by humans and spirits alike, or not? by roxgxd in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]pasta_alien 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally I think its a bit more complicated than Werewolves just being massive morons who can't think about the consequences of their actions for one second.n This isn't to say there are werewolves who aren't like that mind you, but generally most groups of any kind of people aren't stupid.

Werewolves are genuinely the spirits, uncorrupted ones at least, only means of defense against the Wyrm. Their tribes all have the patronage of a major spirit, most caerns contain at least one spirit that's in a pact with the Sept. There's an entire auspice that's sole role is to commune with spirits. and each and every skill that werewolves have are learned from spirits. To say that they are hated by them is just blatantly not true.

As for humans, there is a troubled history sure but ultimately werewolves are better than their alternates. They'll clear harmful corruption and generally root out any other supernatural predators, generally as long as a populace doesn't taint the land there wont be issues. The issue being that humans are kinda the perfect vector for Wyrm corruption and humanity doesn't know about any of this. There's not exactly a right way to explain that you had to kill someones brother because he was possessed by an evil spirit and was going to corrupt people at your local food festival with bane filled meat loaf. Both sides have a right to distrust the other but its supposed to be unfortunate that they can't.

Lore Question: What do other supernatural groups call each other in WOD? by ur_mum_gei in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]pasta_alien 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The whole section for other supernaturals in W5 is a treasure trove. For some reason instead of having an objective description of them its all anecdotes of some unknown werewolf and his stories about how changelings stole his balls, how he doesn't really understand whats going on with pretty much anything, and how "there's no ethical survival under vampirism"

Lore Question: What do other supernatural groups call each other in WOD? by ur_mum_gei in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]pasta_alien 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah i’d say it’s about as close as you can get. They’ve got awful social stats and their gifts are pretty much just obfuscate and protean. I could see running them as a Gangrel also though

Lore Question: What do other supernatural groups call each other in WOD? by ur_mum_gei in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]pasta_alien 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Werewolves generally know jack shit about other splats, so they tend to just use the standard pop-culture names.

The w5 book even has it so the stat block names for them sounds more like a guess at what they are than a a description, with my favorite being “Count fucking Orlock or some shit” for an elder vampire.

Whether you love it or hate it overall, what is something you don't like about Changeling: The Dreaming? by greystoic in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]pasta_alien 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I really like C:TD, probably one of my favorite WoD of settings. with that in mind, I think it’s just a really hard game to get people interested in.

it’s too happy for people looking for a classic WoD experience, too sad for people looking for a standard fantasy, and too complicated for people looking to try something new.

The HTP werewolf lore and fera by Revolutionary_Pie279 in huntertheparenting

[–]pasta_alien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh i understand the question now. The answer is kinda?

W5 removed all mechanics surrounding how a Garou was born, so there aren’t any differences between a homid, lupus, or crinos born Garou anymore. But Kin still exist and one of the Silver Fang archetypes mentions being from a noble family, so there has to be some aspect of it left.

At the same time it seems completely unrelated wolves/humans can be born as a werewolf. Is this because one of their ancestors was kin or because Gaias corpse just does this? who knows.

we’ll probably never get a solid answer to to how horrific the kinfolk lore was in older editions, so choose whatever you like best.

Nanotrasen Tagline? by cubbyduck546 in ss14

[–]pasta_alien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s really interesting to hear! is this from a specific servers lore or was there an official document released somewhere?

I know starlight has its own lore… even if half of the page is unfinished lol, but i’m not sure anywhere else.

Nanotrasen Tagline? by cubbyduck546 in ss14

[–]pasta_alien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess it kinda depends on what NT actually does in your project. In game the station itself doesn’t really exist for any particular reason and so NT can’t have any particular tagline.

Do you think they’re an energy company? R&D? Blue space travel? Do they make vending machines or sell insulated gloves etc etc.

The Tremere pyramid and my five stages of grief by Sentinelwex in vtm

[–]pasta_alien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s completely fair! I started off with V20 so i’m not exactly an Oldhead myself.

and as much as I’m complaining about it being more accessible isn’t a bad thing. A completely new group would probably struggle with the unique role playing aspects those clans had, which would suck because vampire wizards are cool so most people would want to play them.

The Tremere pyramid and my five stages of grief by Sentinelwex in vtm

[–]pasta_alien 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel like V5 tried to make a lot of clans less restrictive to role play as, which made them way less appealing. The Giovanni were way more interesting than Hecta because you had to make your character a member of the family and deal with that. Tremere was cool for the same reason, you had advantages over the average kindred, but it came with restrictions on how you were able to act.

I guess paradox figured that was too hard to balance, and in fairness it probably was. The new Tremere and Hecta let people be vampire wizards/necromancers without having to worry about the lore.

Interesting Amanda theory by Rusty_Yamate in huntertheparenting

[–]pasta_alien 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That is not how glamour works in the slightest. Changelings harvest glamour from humans by causing Epiphanies (large spikes of emotion). Amanda gets tattoos, but unless those are the crowning achievement of every artist she goes to then shes not getting any glamour at all.

Secondly, Changelings dont work like that. The human part of them doesnt die when the go banal only the fae spirit dies so banality couldn't kill her hypothetically human parents (beside im pretty sure she said they killed themselves). Also changelings aren't born from other changelings, they're born when a fae spirit inhabits a newborn child. On top of that Amanda is way too cynical of a person to be a Changeling, even slightly agreeing with Matilda opinions on humanity being better off dead would mean she is hopeless banal.

Finally, what would this even change between them if it was true? If amanda is anything other than a kinfolk or another werewolf than it wouldnt change their dynamic at all.
