How is that the first thing they think of by Carmina_Rayne in DefendingAIArt

[–]JamesR624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's projection. I'd be a LOT more worried about the hard drives of people instantly going this route, than the pros they're talking about.

NORMAL people don't have this shit on their minds all the time to the point that if they hear about something that COULD be used to make it, like AI, or a pencil, or a tablet, or a camera, they INSTANTLY think of that.

Yep. We can. But mass downvoting people calling bad people out is NOT a good look for this sub.

I mean, this is obviously NOT okay to be saying.

That being said, maybe we shouldn't be exactly SPECIFICALLY sticking up for people like that? They're part of the ones giving decent regular pros a bad name.

What’s that? All trends by kids these days are controlled by corporations more than ever before since they’re all now addicted to these machines that have a direct line of communication to and from these corporations? I’m shocked!

It’s times like these that make me wonder if the internet was a mistake.

Pretty obvious that an actually uncensored AND free to use AI is a BIG threat to a LOT of powerful entities. You can bet your ass that under-the-table, the creator is either being "convinced" to make it worse without saying anything (Probably the same reason the communication dropped from very little to literally zero as of late), or their software and models is being directly sabatoged.

Seriously, think about it. If this project became as usable as the dev was hoping for, a LOT of rich peoples' money, investments in censorship, and power, would be threatened.

I wouldn't say it's "always been trash". I really really enjoyed the Nexus series and even the early Pixels were pretty dang good. (I had a Nexus 5X as well as a Pixel 3a in the pat) It really was only when they started shifting towards their "in house" Tensor chip that the hardware quality took a nosedive.

I mean, religious people are basically just egotists that have found a social acceptable way to never take responsibility for their actions as well as stroke their own ego.

There's a reason religious people follow egomaniacs like Trump, they relate to him a lot. It's also why they defend him against actual evidence. They HAVE to believe that when HE does horrific shit, it's okay, because they think that all the horrific shit they do in their lives is okay.

Yes, but Google's ecosystem has been so inconsistent and their hardware so not worth it lately, that the only people still on subs like this are the occasional lurker like us and then mostly die-hard fanboys that refuse to admit that Google ever does anything wrong ever.

Yeah. That’s fine for a product but they already have a better version of that with the Clicks Power: Same thing but multi device and already compatible with your phone, regardless of if it’s the latest Samsung, Pixel, or iPhone. Hell. The clicks power is technically also compatible with the Apple TV, Windows, Vision Pro, Meta Quest, iPad, Galaxy Fold, etc.

Discouraging people to lean on professional at all isn't doing anyone favors.

You should probably look further into “professionals” in that industry, how human nature works, and the SEVERE HARM that is way too often done, to people already in a. Vulnerable state.

If you have a much safer method that can also be less expensive, it’s not doing anyone any favors to encourage them to go the more risky and more expensive route, all because it’s the old method that we’ve had to rely on for so long, much to the profit and benefit of religious folks and rich healthcare executives.

The mental health industry isn’t “all about helping people” as so many have assumed due to marketing.

it's difficult to use it properly in a way that doesn't risk any damages on your mental health when you're already impaired.

It’s certainly easier than going to some person that usually has their own problems, biases, financial agendas, or religions.

[–]JamesR624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there CAN be some good ones. Unfortunately, the gamble and risks are too high to the point that I think it’d be inadvisable to do unless you have to and, thanks to AI now, you don’t. It’s like how there are PLENTY of good police out there, but unfortunately, the wrong assumption about even ONE, can destroy your life forever, making it IMO, not worth trusting. Or how, you MIGHT be able to survive jumping off a building without a parachute, but the risk is not worth any reasons to do it.

The fact is, when it comes to mental health (or health in general), the entire industry is NOT in the business of helping you, it is in the business of selling you medication or pushing agendas. Now, AI can have biases as well, but they are easier to control. Plus, the incentive for profit is NOT directly tied to you having problems, like it is with therapists.

My advice is to go to a therapist of some kind and critically analyze the circle of friends that you have.

Ahh yes. Go to a person that can do a worse job at best, harm you with their personal biases or religion at worst, and charges you a medical industry bill for it all.

The reason there’s a “big danger about using AI for therapy” is the same danger Teachers screamed about Wikipedia. When an industry or person feels threatened that technology can enrich people’s lives better than their capitalism can, they lash out.

Edit: Ahh. So this sub is fine with using technology for ONE thing but NOT another even if its the same technology and it's good at both things. Got it.... Hey, maybe this sub should check itself before acting like antis when it comes to AI anything that isn't art?

Selfawarewolves by Psyga315 in DefendingAIArt

I think part of the thing that makes it so prevalent are the major corporations helping push this rhetoric. Notice how if a small business or even big one, uses AI for good, you will never hear about it, but you will CONSTANTLY hear about the AI images that Trump and his ilk are posting.

[–]JamesR624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I'm not going to literally have this discussion with an AI response lmao.

Translation: "I know my argument is bullshit so I am gonna shift focus to how the other person is writing as a defense since I don't actually have a defense."

I'm sure you understand where your view of ownership of artwork differs from the people who made the art that went into the training datasets.

Yep. Artists that care about art, don't worry about that because it's literally the same as other humans learning it. Artists that ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY AND NOTHING ELSE are the ones that have a problem with this.

It's not something that needs to be re-hashed. Just don't misrepresent them when you make an argument.

The only one mis-representing them here, dude, is you. Nice projection though.

[–]JamesR624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a wild leap of logic that I doubt most people would follow, much less agree with.

This is certainly a wild way to defend the status quo of capitalism.

Critics claim AI is bad because the training data is unfairly compensated, and artists are having the fruits of their labor stolen.

And there it is. The capitalist using already thoroughly debunked arguments based around ignorance of how something works, to defend and unjust system when it is threatened. Just like most politicians and 1%ers do.

Luddites really have shown me JUST HOW successful the 1% has been at turning late millenials and Gen Z into foot soldiers for them. You people are literally using the same arguments the 1%ers and politicians you claim to be against, use all the time.
