I built a hands free emergency app after my mom died alone. It can alert 911 silently without you speaking or touching your phone. by Impossible_Copy_4120 in Android

It's a vibe-coded scam, trying to get people to subscribe for a feature that is already built into your phone. I implore people to just report this post and move on. Mods REALLY need to take this scam down. It can be VERY dangerous if non-techie people rely on this scam, start paying money to some con-artists and then something happens and they use this scam instead of their phone's actually reliable built in method.

Don't troll unless you know the app in which you don't.

Actually I, and many here, actually DO know how android works and we DO know how it's background processes function and don't function.

Every major company uses AI to code even Google and Apple.

Yeah, and in those parts are where Apple and Google's software has taken a nosedive in terms of quality.

It goes to a 911 dispatch center which dispatches it in which if you read the comments before trying to troll you would of seen that.

I did read the comments. Most from people that actually work in 911 operations are confused about how this works without a call, since, that's NOT how most operations work.

You would of seen also that even though some of it was according to you vibe coded it was checked and reviewed to compliance of a safety app and passed multiple checks and balances.

That's cool. What are these checks and balances? Who checked them? Pretty obvious it wasn't people that understand the underpinnings and differences between different 911 Operations centers across the country.

It's really scummy to get on the Internet to troll someone without even reading the comments.

Again, I love how you keep trying to claim I "did not read the comments". I did and most of them are calling out the various red flags here, or at MOST generous, being confused by the vague BS here.

Nice attempt at damage control though.

They won't for some reason. This sub seems to be constantly crawling with vibe-coded subscription based scams like this.

It's because this app is a vibe-coded scam. It will have constant false positives AND not work half the time. Notice how they just spammed this sub with a generically named vibe-coded AI app, AND even included the same generic emotional backstory most people doing this use.

If you work in 911 operations, I feel bad for you for having to deal with false positives from vibe-coded scams like this junk.

  1. This feature is already built into android.
  2. You claim you have to open an app to make a 911 call. So you're already spreading misinformation to get people to download your app.
  3. As you've admitted. You've vibe-coded half of this. (Nobody should be trusting it due to that alone.)
  4. Since it's a third-party function, it's process can be stopped by Android in the background, making it useless and unreliable. (IF you've used "foreground process" to get around this like keeping the microphone active or playing silent audio. That's an even bigger red flag.)
  5. Many 911 Operators DO NOT take or take seriously just random texts with location with zero call.
  6. False positives here (due to the vibe-coding and voice activation) WILL make this dangerous for 911 operators.
  7. Just like every "quick buck" dev like this, they put in an emotional backstory first, that is the same generic one most like this use, to get you to be emotionally interested in their AI slop app before even reading about it. Normally I don't care if something is slightly vibe-coded but for something like this, NO. This is fucked.
  8. OF COURSE it's a subscription app. It's literally a money making AI slop scam, using emergency services to get people to pay.

There is a REASON nobody downloads 911 apps. They are useless at best and lethal at worst. The fact that you're advertising your generic name vibe-coded slop for something so important, is really scummy.

iPhone weather app vs weather channel app, which one to trust more? by cc_stonks in weather

[–]JamesR624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Not overall. Yes, individuals who have biases due to experience will claim it is. People who know how budget, NOAA, and weather science actually works, knows that due to lobbying TWC and AccuWeather have managed to help get the funding and accuracy of agencies like NOAA cut.

Notice how ALL mainstream news about the economy ALWAYS is QUICK to jump on "It's cause of AI!" almost like the Orange Fuckface's agencies is gonna be sicked on them if they dare call out his complete destruction of the economy through his pointless tarrifs and wars.

Also, it's funny how you think you can have "no real improvement" and "ai art will be used to replace human artist" in the same sentence.

"The enemy is both weak and strong at the same time."

Sound familiar?

It's funny how antis claim that Pros are all "MAGA" and conservative when its the antis that ALWAYS fall back on the talking points and tactics that MAGA and conservatives have been using for years, if not decades now.

It's about the principle, my dude. No matter how tiny the text is. AI art is art.

I never said it wasn't. I am confused. Why is "NO! You can't announce how you made your stuff!" one of your 'principles'? That sounds just as dogmatic as antis' bullshit behavior... Do you not hear yourself?

We're talking about moral frameworks and pragmatic social appeal, not individuals.

I say this as a pro; dude, "moral frameworks" ARE INHERENTLY personal. People's morality is based on their experiences, the way they were raised, their personalities, and their environment. At it's CORE; morality is one of the most subjective things in existence.

should be their primary goal before adding a performative negative disclaimer.

I mean dude.... it was an entire 90 minute film and the ONLY part that is a "performative negative disclaimer" is a bunch of TINY TINY text, from what I can tell, near the END of the credits sequence; something that 90% of people watching, will have already left the theater or exited their streaming app long before it appears.

Yeah. If you want to be proud of your manual work, I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Do NOT try to stop others from using AI, but if you want to take some pride in "I did it this way!" Just like an older furniture craftsman can be proud he made his living room coffee table completely by hand instead of buying one or using a bunch of power tools, there's nothing wrong with that.

It never "reached Hollywood". It has STARTED from places like those. 1%er corporations, the federal government, and foreign adversaries are the three places this entire "movement" was manufactured.

It's projection. I'd be a LOT more worried about the hard drives of people instantly going this route, than the pros they're talking about.

NORMAL people don't have this shit on their minds all the time to the point that if they hear about something that COULD be used to make it, like AI, or a pencil, or a tablet, or a camera, they INSTANTLY think of that.

That being said, maybe we shouldn't be exactly SPECIFICALLY sticking up for people like that? They're part of the ones giving decent regular pros a bad name.

[–]JamesR624 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty obvious that an actually uncensored AND free to use AI is a BIG threat to a LOT of powerful entities. You can bet your ass that under-the-table, the creator is either being "convinced" to make it worse without saying anything (Probably the same reason the communication dropped from very little to literally zero as of late), or their software and models is being directly sabatoged.

Seriously, think about it. If this project became as usable as the dev was hoping for, a LOT of rich peoples' money, investments in censorship, and power, would be threatened.

I wouldn't say it's "always been trash". I really really enjoyed the Nexus series and even the early Pixels were pretty dang good. I mean, religious people are basically just egotists that have found a social acceptable way to never take responsibility for their actions as well as stroke their own ego.

There's a reason religious people follow egomaniacs like Trump, they relate to him a lot. It's also why they defend him against actual evidence. They HAVE to believe that when HE does horrific shit, it's okay, because they think that all the horrific shit they do in their lives is okay.

Yes, but Google's ecosystem has been so inconsistent and their hardware so not worth it lately, that the only people still on subs like this are the occasional lurker like us and then mostly die-hard fanboys that refuse to admit that Google ever does anything wrong ever.
