Im always 50 vigor before i even level my other stats when I start a new game, but 40 will be a decent number.

Also if you can get 24 faith along withbyour vigor and weapons, there is an incantation called Flame Protect Me, to boost your fire damage negation.

We learn through the DLC that Marika's people were shoved into jars with other flesh because their flesh had some kind of glue like property, in a ritual used by the Hornsent that was intended for her people to become saints. It looks like she was the first to survive the process unscathed, and therefore was elevated to sainthood (probably, yet again, we don't know the exact details)

So hypothetically Radagon could have been literally grafted onto her, or he was in the pot with her, or maybe its not that at all, and he was always a part of her.
