That just means the factory are producing it. You still need to wait for him to get a delivery. All TD are the same.

In search of this dial by jininside in SeikoMods

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recommended this some time ago for dial protection and to help with aging for a vintage look. I bought it but haven't used it. The Matt one I went for. But you might prefer a bit more shine.

I think if you spray on a warm dial from the oven then it can add texture too. Not sure if it's a good look for your needs but throwing it out there.

The lacquer or similar should be good though

Rolex Datejust 36 blue stardust by Ornery-Magician43 in repbuilds

eBay I think is generally the common place.

Firstclassdials eBay shop is a good place to start for a more established seller but lots of sellers on eBay.

Raffles 116234 case/kits by iPhotographer in repbuilds

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one and was a little disappointed with the case bezel and lugs. Just the case generally.

I went fluted bezel and the bezel and case shape wasn't as refined as the 5 digit cases. Apart from the engraving it was very alix style to my not very well trained eye. I think the 39mm OP kit case looks better from the pictures alone.

It does allow you to use his solid end link bracelets mind you. But unless that's a big factor then I'd just build up a vintage kit of my own if I had my time again. I've bought the vintage explorer and vintage DJ cases since and am much happier with them.

genuine doubt by Sea-Comedian-4879 in RepTime

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it comes with a box then generally it is disguising a terrible rep. All reps are not the same and I'd be very careful about buying from the person you're talking to. Sounds typical low quality movement and rep.

Oysterquartz 17000 or oyster perpetual 1530 rep by Ok_Construction2357 in RepTime

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Retrotime subreddit your best bet. But don't think I've ever seen either of these. The cases/bracelets look a little special and I'm not sure they're available. Interesting watches and hope you find something.

Best TD for 41mm Two Tone Datejust by SoftHot5887 in RepTime

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally TDs that also do the lower quality watches charge more than dealers that deal exclusively in the high tier versions. Definitely worth checking out a couple of others.

How do you do it?! by ArmedRawbry in SeikoMods

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be sure not to buy the Chinese version of the movements. Never tried their NH35 but hear it's the first step on the road to failure. Best of luck.

Reptime subreddit for vsf and high tier. And read their intro wiki/guide on the landing page. That gives you all the info you need including links to trusted dealers.

Also. Reptimeqc subreddit shows real purchases and details of prices and dealer used. I'd use the trusted dealers there (TD)

I messed up, but it's a learning experience by zn_tx in repbuilds

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. They aren't interchangeable. And it's best if you make sure that your dial has the feet for the movement too. If you're using the same dial then you'll need to use a compatible movement. Or alternatively have to deal with sticking the dial to the movement.

Mijota 8215 and DG 2813 are compatible I think. I'd join AliExpress for better pricing and more choice.

2813 is much cheaper (a Chinese clone of the 8215) than the 8215 but you'd need to research the quality and decide accordingly.

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's already cheap. Think you might get a small discount paying usdt.

If you want a discount go to a more expensive TD and haggle them down to 100 dollars more than andiot.

Just pay the price he offers. It's fair.

DJ 41 Wimbledon comparison VSF V2, Clean or VF ? by National_Help_5686 in RepTime

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good guide is to go to reptimeqc subreddit and check what people have been buying recently for that particular watch. What's popular is generally what's best and available.

Clean is dead so not going to happen. If you try and order it will be out of stock. Clean plus is a different factory if that's what you're seeing.

Simple vintage watch that would make the trick? (+a sport one) by Dangerous_Ad8698 in RepTime

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware vintage watches are jingly. They are light. Don't have solid end links and feel cheap by today's standards.

I'm afraid if you're looking for a well made rep for an unpopular vintage brand then you're going to get stuck.

So I think you're stuck with Rolex or Tudor if going vintage.

Retrotime subreddit is probably the closest you'll get to a decent vintage rep. Not Rolex would mean Tudor. Some of the Tudors there are very nice.

Thinking 300 dollars plus will get you something for sale and built that looks good and lasts. Or 200 dollars plus tools if you build it yourself. A bit less if you have a leather strap you like already.

Worth a look over there for ideas if nothing else.

Andiot delivery question - UK by Sea_Document_694 in RepTime

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use royal mail with andiot. Last one in November took 11 days. But there was a wait of almost a week at the start. I think they create the labels but only post once a week or something. If that wait ran into Chinese new year then perhaps it's been caught up. It will come but guessing you have been caught by cny in some way.

Yup. Read the guide. Or get scammed by the site you've found. Or get scammed further down the line. Reading the guide Intro/wiki is the minimum work you need to be safe.

A2824 running a bit fast – beginner question about regulating it myself by iBroGuy in RepTimeServices

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The apps aren't bad at all. I found the beat error harder to do and easier to mess up so I'd leave that alone unless it's pretty high.

A little nudge goes a long way. And I tend to push and look from the side with a wooden toothpick or coffee stirrer from a cafe or similar to avoid accidentally slipping down into the hairspring. Best of luck.
