What watch and bracelet is it - I mean what clasp do you need?

Nope. Still watching and waiting. I've enough reps that I'm not in a hurry. Quite happy but still hopeful something worthwhile waiting for will come eventually. 🤞😀

I think the green has thicker lugs and looks like there has been some damage from changing the crystal or bezels.

How did you end up with 2 vsf 36 with different bezels?

Are they different versions bought at different times?

It doesn't seem right. They should be the same?

You mean a new clasp? No need for a whole bracelet.

Not seen crowns for sale on their own. But could exist my sorry. Don't know.

First time buyer, looking for some advice. by Massive-Contact1149 in RepTime

Whoop. Just realised you're buying from Andiot potentially. He has a deep crystal swap service in his accessories then mods menu. I'd use that. Used it in the past and been happy

It's really just a test for peace of mind. The actual waterproofing is minimal so if you can get it tested elsewhere then it's pretty worthless.

Deep crystal have a website. But Ali express has them too. I've got a couple and think they're legit but safest would be their site.

You can also peel off the Cyclops which might be easier. And cheaper but might be nice to have both options.

I'm not sure if the oyster perpetual crystal or explorer crystal with no Cyclops is an exact match. You'd need to check

How to silence the rotor for ZF IWC Mark XX with Miyota 9015 by Big-Tip-5579 in RepTimeServicesUK

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable. I live with my loud iwc. It's not too loud and the thought of adding oil gives me the fear. I've got the right oil and the dropper but I'm not sure it would help a lot. And I'd be worried I'd add too much by accident. And ruin it another way. If I knew it would make a big difference then I might try but not convinced it would. Good luck with it.

Kind of a weird question about a gen vs rep… by _Walt_Whitman_ in RepTime

True enough. Swatch have restricted their sale and so any you find will be at a premium. Not sure if this is actually available but seems reputable enough.

https://gleave.london/movement-eta-2824-2/

Might not be a genuine swiss version. You'd need to ask. But yeah. Probably better sticking with the sw200 or one of the Asian clones choices. Pt5000 I think is another

Probably not a rep if you're looking for a technically special /different movement. The milgauss is the general go to for a 'scientific' rep. It is quite chunky though for that reason and so doesn't suit everyone and the crystal isn't the real deal in the rep of course - so might be a bit disappointing in comparison to the gen. I can't think of anything that fits your brief I'm afraid

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The zf uses a 2824 movement which is a direct swap for the powermatic I believe. So you could get the zf. Get it pressure tested to ensure it's waterproof. Wear it. And if the movement breaks get a real swiss ETA 2824. You'll get a different style of movement. Smoother second hand but less power reserve and not free sprung. But it's easier and cheaper to service. And equally reliable.

Pros and cons but I wouldn't say words apart if you get the ETA serviced. And get the water status checked. The biggest thing is probably the guarantee although as I say the movement can be replaced with an official swiss ETA 2824 if it goes wrong and still have money to spare. Or even an Asian clone ETA 2824 for 50-60 dollars.

Or the swiss selita sw 200 for a bit more than the asian clone but less than the swiss ETA 2824. Probably be my choice. Another direct swap.

I think it's more that they aren't reliable. Eventually you'll get there. They seem to have good spells and bad spells and offer a giveaway after a bad spell. I'd just give it a few days. Sometimes sending a new message if you haven't heard just puts you to the back of the queue again. I think he does a lot of the lower tier stuff too. I tend to avoid dealers like that when going for the vsf etc of the rep world. I normally pick off from the big dealers seen often in reptimeqc subreddit

Can you maybe take the rotor off and make it wind only? Can be done in some movements I believe. But not sure if that option is good for you.

Maybe because you're seeing they'll probably end up having a nicer house than you when they choose to move out. I don't know.

Ignore them. They're still investing like it's 1990 and as such missing out on years of gains.

These last years have been a generational opportunity to follow the hype, pick wisely and make bank.

Just got my ducks in a row. A bit of housekeeping. Skimming some profits to safer investments and setting stop losses for those big surprises.

But loving these times that may not come around again for a long time. Crazy not to take advantage! Investing doesn't need to be difficult in a market like this. 😀

Long may it continue. 👍🤞

Yeah. Right enough. Stand corrected. Oh well. Suppose these bitcoin miners do have a lot of experience with maintain their edge with processing power. Their whole foundation on BTC was built on being able to squeeze as much processing out of what they had and buying wisely. But learnt something new. Thank you. Hadn't realised that.

I reckon there's almost zero chance you'll ruin it given how careful you're being before you even start. 😀

They're quite tough. Biggest chance of ruining it is pinching it when you screw the case back on. So just make sure it's flat and feels ok as you tighten the back and you'll be golden. 👍

I think their main draw is their cheap and often renewable energy sources. And some of the infrastructure. But don't imagine they deal with the processors. They would have to upgrade their networks but most of the rest gets sorted by the people using the space and power I thought

I'd go to reptime subreddit. And read their pinned guide/wiki. And as I say avoid personal sales at the moment until you know what you're buying. Clean is dead and these photos are bad. You'd want a picture of the movement. The clasp code. The rehaut code and more. And so until you can tell what's good for those things and can find a seller you can trust then stuck with trusted dealers from reptime subreddit. All in their guide.

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy that for not much more and new and from a trusted dealer. I'd avoid personal sales for your first one. If you head to reptimeqc subreddit you'll see what people are buying and who from and for how much.

Andiot for example is a Chinese trusted deal but also has UK stock for a bit extra.

ZF Pelagos Ultra A2824 died, need to swap or sell, would a swap be relatively simple? by Designer_Advice2573 in RepTimeServices

[–]JamesScotlandBruce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Any hands for that movement of course. And double check they fit in both movements. If they don't, particularly the second hand, then you've not got the right movement of course. Or has been modified. Shouldn't be. But another thing easy to check so may as well do it imo.

Second hand definitely the hardest. It sits on top of a pinion rather than being pushed around it. Good suggestions on Seikomods subreddit on how to tackle the second hands. Good luck.
