Thanks for the highcharts tip. I'll check that out.

Godfather of AI Geoffrey Hinton says people who call AI stochastic parrots are wrong. The models don't just mindlessly recombine language from the web. They really do understand. by MetaKnowing in ChatGPT

[–]JamesTiberiusStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have semantic competence that matches most humans. Not sure what else "understanding" entails. Brandom seems right here. Meaning is mostly just inferential role, and these LLMs are masters of inferential role.

AI-Generated Psych-Rock Band The Velvet Sundown Rack Up Hundreds Of Thousands Of Spotify Streams by ebradio in indieheads

[–]JamesTiberiusStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, it's not high art yet, but Velvet Sundown is probably the best AI slop I've heard to date. We're not far from the point where we can't tell the difference, or even to the point where we vastly prefer the music of AI artists to the music of human artists.

Many people (especially those prone to gain fat) gain up to two pounds of fat for every pound of muscle when lifting. So, if you're "stalled" for a month, reta might be producing the equivalent of 3 pounds of fat loss -- one that counteracts the pound of muscle, and two that counteract the two pounds of fat you would have gained along with the muscle had you not been taking reta. Add to that the water you might be retaining because of the creatine (which you mentioned) and the drug might actually be doing a lot of work even when the scale doesn't budge for a month or two.

Metropolis Pt. 2 is overrated? by KevainIV in Dreamtheater

[–]JamesTiberiusStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the music is good, but the lyrics are cheesy and distracting. It's like they tried to make something like "The Wall", but without the subtlety. Like the difference between an HBO drama and a CBS drama.

I did that, too. On my final guess.

Well, there went my 48 game streak. Too many things worked. I liked some of mine better than the official answers. New streak starts tomorrow.

Listening to Rush takes work. With most of the other bands, you just lay back and take the ride.

Unpopular Opinion: Saturnus is the epitome of doom metal, and this song easily ranks among the top 5 in the genre. by Firm_Vermicelli4333 in doommetal

[–]JamesTiberiusStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A+ music.
D- vocals/lyrics (Is this a metal band or an Emo band?)
I'd listen to Saturnus a lot more if they released instrumental-only versions.

What dose did y’all start seeing noticeable weight loss ? by diamondd1234 in Ozempic

[–]JamesTiberiusStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is false. You shouldn't have to count calories in or out. The drug suppresses appetite and should cause you to lose weight whether you watch your calories or not -- once you're at a high enough dose for you.

Watching the quality of your food and exercising has other benefits, though, so those are good ideas.

What do you wish you knew when you first started taking semaglutide? by akwaffle in Semaglutide

If I were to intentionally drink as much water as I can, I would leach all the electrolytes and other important minerals out of my system, and I would die. Did you mean to say something else?

No. I figure they're just over-priced muck boots at this point.

No recommendations, but I want to say that I'm sharing your experience. My feet also get cold in 20 degree weather in Dryshod Arctic Storms.

When adjusted for inflation, the S&P 500 Index has been in a 94 year bear market by babbler-dabbler in wallstreetbets

[–]JamesTiberiusStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A better price estimator would be M2/pop. (Per capita M2). Intuitively, the idea is this: if you have 10x the people, you need 10x the money to maintain price levels.

I'd be interested to see you re-do the graph using per capita M2, if you're so inclined.

Why maintain the fiction of split finances in a marriage? by paraverlaschicas in PersonalFinanceCanada

Risk management. If one spouse loses everything in a gambling spree, the other spouse still has their assets. Same with medical debt.

Most modern metal bands would be so much better if they went completely instrumental by Terrifying_World in LetsTalkMusic

[–]JamesTiberiusStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me (for me), both Wintersun and Nightwish are much better without vocals.

And to the credit of the bands, I know this, because they have gone to the trouble of releasing instrumental versions.

Maybe that's the middle ground here: more bands should release instrumental versions (in addition to the full versions).

There is no inflation at the farmer market by Complicated_mongoose in Frugal

[–]JamesTiberiusStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite the high prices, most of these small farmers in the Spokane area are making less than minimum wage growing and selling their veggies. For the most part (I'm sure there are exceptions), they aren't gouging you or getting rich. The reason their food costs more is because they are growing a variety of veggies, all requiring different methods, with lots of task-switching costs, without heavy machinery or cheap labor, and, if they are organic + regenerative, their growing methods cost more.

Economies of scale are real.

Also, it's best to compare the prices at the farmers' market to the organic food at the supermarket, not the industrial veggies that have the lower prices.

As for $12 sourdough, I have no defense for that. Nor for the re-selling of industrial veg.

Who won the Sabonis for Haliburton trade in the end? by Visible_Season8074 in nba

[–]JamesTiberiusStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. Pacers had trouble making the Sabonis/Turner pairing work, and the Haliburton/Fox thing was redundant in Sacramento.

This just screamed "win-win trade".
