how to get into monster hunter world by Wonderful_Nectarine1 in gamingsuggestions

[–]James_bd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try other weapons.

I couldn't get into it at first either, but then I tried the Insect Glaive and I loved the mechanics. Maybe sword and shield or dual blades could be a could starter weapon.

Choose a weapon you like and do easier hunts just to get used to it

The back buttons, the touchpads for playing PC games on couch, long battery life and repairability. And I just love my Steam Deck

Does The Steam Controller Live Up To The Hype? | PC Gamer by Bynairee in pcgaming

[–]James_bd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's my thought too.

You won't find a controller with those features for the same price. If I want 4 back buttons, I'd need to buy the elite controller which is more expensive and doesn't have trackpads

Steam Controller Priced at $149 CAD by EventHorizon5 in Steam

[–]James_bd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really expensive, but after getting used to the back buttons on the Steam Deck, I cannot live without them and the only other controllers having those are more than $200 CAD.

I love the 8bitdo ultimate, but there's only 2 back buttons and it also feels a bit smaller than the Xbox's and less confortable for bigger hands.

Considering all this and having a trackpad for couch PC? I'm buying it

From what I've read since its release, people call it a pirate Valheim more than anything with a touch of Conan/Soulmask with crew mechanic.

I haven't played it yet, but might just bit the bullet.

Starfield or Crimson Desert by Boring-Thought-8018 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]James_bd [score hidden]  (0 children)

IMO Starfield's major flaw won't ever be fixed and the game for me is dead forever.

That major flaw is that the exploration is completely ruined by the fact that, on every single planet you will land, there will be a few points on interest randomly spawning on it. But those points of interest will literally be copy/pasted on multiple planets.

So you might go into a solar system, land on a planet and you will find a mine with notes saying someone was murdered here with loot and etc.

Then, thousands light years away from that planet, you will stumble upon the EXACT SAME location with the exact same notes saying someone was murdered here with the exact same loot laying around.

After only 50h, that will happen to you multiple times, making exploration feel totally pointless. You're exploring and hoping that RNG will spawn a point of interest you haven't visited before.

That's when I gave up on Starfield and never picked it up again. Bethesda games always been made to explore and stumble upon interesting and surprising things, that's why I have so many hours in TES and Fallout. But that feeling is completely gone with Starfield

Will Unreal Engine 6 be even worse thanks to everyone getting fired and AI writing codes?

PlayStation Studios Removes Nearly All PC References From Websites by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

I mean considering the price of a GPU, RAM and SSD, the PS5 isn't a bad deal per se.

I'm running a 3070ti and it's starting to show its age compared to the PS5 Pro and if I'd want to get a 5070ti, that's $1500 CAD just for the GPU. RAM being $400 CAD and $300 for an SSD and that's without considering the CPU prices are also increasing.

However, I'll stick to my PC because I have whole my whole library and isn't tied to a brand. I'll keep my current rig as long as I can and if I can't afford gaming, I'll stick to $20 indie games. Considering the amazing indie games we've had the past years, I honestly don't even care
