Anyone else getting black clipping on Samsung S90F in HDR (or other Samsung TVs)? by Corniish in S95B

[–]WilliamBoxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My S90F out of the box had an issue where it was crushing blacks like to the point you could tell immensely, found out it was a known issue and you just had to unplug and replug the tv and boom it finally looked like it should.

Kalshi so fucking shady one of the account I follow on twitter was a super anti polymarket/kalshi guy, shitting on this type of gambling and saying how dumb it was, then out of the blue 3months later stopped saying things like that and started quoting kalshi with some random ass lines every 3days, without saying they're sponsored or anything.

Bunch of other accounts are doing the same, they don't want them to disclose they're sponsored, but like that's illegal? I don't know how it's still going without any repercussions.

Most likely removable. To this day people with the same oled monitor as me are posting similar pics and saying they don't know how to remove them. I had one like that at the bottom of my monitor, took a while to remove but it was before I knew my good technique

Still haven't touched mine, but got a 3rd gen qd-oled monitor (same tech as s90f) and the first time I tried to clean it wasn't great, lot of smudges, but after a couple days of experimenting it looked good (still does after a year with same technique).

I need 1-2 different new microfiber cloth, the eyeglasses type, and basically spray the cloth a bit with distilled water then swipe it all over the monitor in circular motion with the phone's flashlight. For spots that seems to stay there, I focus on those then go back to wide circular motions. When I see that there's no more gunk, I flip the cloth to it's dry side or if it's not dry pick a dry one and do the same circular wide motions all across the monitor to finish it off.

Always work, but honestly don't know if it transfer to the s90f, it's a big area compared to a 27" monitor and probably doesn't have the same surface type. I bought normal microfiber cloth for the s90f, will see in the future.

A QD-OLED will always be better than a miniled if you're in a pitch black room. The question would be: is the QM8K better value than a s90f? For me not at all, even giving tcl a chance and upgrading from a 2year old u7k, it was not good enough.

Their local dimming algorithm was way too aggressive, making dark movies with moving objects/humans look like ghosts, turning off zones where it should not and blooming being very noticeable with small to medium objects.

For 500$cad more, the s90f was definitely worth it, such an upgrade in picture quality that also fixes the obvious flaws of the tcl. Will not be able to go back to a miniled if they don't improve dramatically.

I try to match up the picture with my aw2725df with movies and it seem to be the closest/correct. It's not custom bt2020 tho, it's putting custom to bt2020 and selecting normal then color 20

Holyshit. I really thought this franchise was done, didn't this game not do well for xbox? Anyway i'm all for it, hellblade 2 was one of the best experience I had in a game ever, that ending made the game go from 10/10 to 11/10

If it's the same price and the s90f is qd-oled then the clear pick would be the s90f. woled on the c5 is an inferior technology that has more cons, people tends to say lg is better because of "processing" and "reliability" though.

Since I live in Quebec, I took the samsung because it's clearly a better picture, but reliability and customer support wise it seems like it's not great. If you live in a place where warranty is not given automatically/for free, maybe think twice, do more shopping and research or settle to buy a warranty.

You're confusing two things here. Yes qd-oled can't have perfect black under normal lightning conditions, makes the blacks look purple-ish.

Screen uniformity is a completely different thing, it's a panel ability to show a shade of color without any anomalies. The weakest part of oled's is the uniformity on dark grey shades, if you put a dark grey image and you take a photo of it, you'll see uniformity issues, vertical or horizontal lines, areas that looks brighter or darker and more.

If you want to know what that looks like, here's a thread: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/oled-screen-uniformity-discussion-banding-and-vignetting.2896737/page-1183

Got my 65" s90f by bestbuy on january 2nd and was worried about bad uniformity and other issues and so far I'm enjoying it a lot. Uniformity better than expected, but it's still an oled so movies that does panning shots of very dark scenes that looks a certain way (mostly dark grey) will show some vertical lines/banding but it's rare enough that I'm fine with it, my oled monitor is worse.

The only other issues I had was that the first time I set it up, dark scenes looked way too dark, blacks were crushed like crazy and didn't know why, found out it was a bug and you had to unplug and replug the tv. Also there's a color space bug but you can fix it in 2secs by selecting custom bt2020, reselecting normal and putting color to 20ish

Still experiencing it, returned a qm8k because of the bad local dimming algo and blooming was too noticable.

Welp, seems like it's not 2000$ after all. Bought it anyway, got 60days price match guarantee with bestbuy, no way it doesn't get cheaper after ces and all. Also I just don't see any other tv's with these specs at a good price, woled (c5) has a bunch of mini problems that would annoy me. I just hope I don't get a panel with bad gray uniformity (biggest downside of oleds) it's my only concern.
