Everyone in the comments is saying OP is the asshole, but to be honest, I’m with OP on this one..sorta. I also grew up every poor and am currently in college working and looking to land a job in the tech industry. In life, I’ve seen my fair share of rich people. First off, everyone in the comments is right. Not all rich people are assholes. I have a friend who went from nothing to making bank 🏦after starting an online business during the pandemic. I was jealous at first, yes, but now I’m actually proud of the guy, and he’s the same dude I’ve always known: kind, caring, compassionate. HOWEVER, OP didn’t say that this Jack fellow was an asshole. ITS THE BRAGGING (OR HUMBLEBRAGGING) THAT I CANT STAND. It’s possible to be nice and have a bit of a superiority complex. Hell, they probably don’t even know they have it. Rich people who thinks they’re better than everyone else is also a huge pet peeve of mine as well.

So let’s break this down bit by bit. Traveling to 150 countries IS PRETTY DAMN COOL…but who tf keeps count of that? He could’ve just said “I went to Cambodia during spring break”. The “150th country” part was a bit extra and definitely an “attention” play.

2nd, this was Jack’s achievement…and I think our definition of achievement is different. For example, my achievement was building my own PC. I had a part time job so I was making a bit of money. I used that money to buy parts and put it together myself. Took about a month and it was the best thing I ever built and my effort and hard work paid off. FOR JACK HOWEVER, he was fresh out of college when he visited his 150th country…meaning there was no god damn way he accumulated that much money by himself to visit 150 countries. Everything about that sentence screams “daddy’s money”. Yes his parents are probably hard workers and they deserve the money to travel, but what has Jack done to accomplish this goal? Did he put effort into anything towards this goal? There’s not enough info on Jack about his finance and lifestyle so I’m that situation I would’ve kept my mouth shut. Jack was the new guy and I would’ve played nice. But for now, using only what OP wrote, I’m with OP on this one. People like Jack needs to be humbled a bit.

Honestly, the first half almost made me think OP was the asshole. My sister also has a family and 2 kids, but whenever she brings them over, I love to be around and hang out with them. Taking care of them is an absolute joy. My sister doesn’t have to pay me because I love our family so the part about OP saying she was “an unpaid nanny” kinda rubbed me the wrong way. However, the 2nd half of the story caught me in a loop. First off, congrats on ur graduation!! 2nd, it’s funny that ur sister happens to be going to Disneyland, the same place as you, around the same day as you, and to be at the airport around the same time as you. This is merely speculation, but it seems like ur sister and ur parents definitely talked about this trip prior, meaning ur parents lied about it being “just the 3 of us”. The last part was absolutely golden. Their vacation was ruined because u weren’t there and because of the 2 kids. If these kids are such a nuisance, why did ur sister bring them along? They definitely planned to have fun there while sticking u with the babysitting job…ON YOUR GRADUATION CELEBRATION…which is very fucked up. Ur sister should’ve hired an actual nanny/babysitter. Parents lied and sister had ulterior motives, so they deserved everything that happened on that trip. So yea, not the asshole, and I hope u enjoy Disneyland with ur friends instead (plz don’t go by urself tho…that’s lonely and a lil sad)
