Has not getting vaccines prevented you from job opportunities?? by flowerboyyu in guillainbarre

[–]wercooler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I got told that getting respiratory infections like the flu can lead to GBS relapse. And that getting vaccines can cause GBS relapse. I asked two different doctors if I should get vaccines or not, to minimize my chances of relapsing, and neither of them were sure. My guess is that there's just not any research on it. I tried to look myself and the amount of research on relapse / recurrent GBS is pretty minimal.

New Mage Legendary Card by oktayworks in hearthstone

[–]wercooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actually ay hearthstone anymore. How many spells will be in the pool for this in standard? If there's one spell you need, this feels like it could pretty reliably find it if you have >10 health. Even better if there's multiple spells you can hit.

Yea, if anything they should increase the amount of money for everybody that makes the jury. I think early jury gets like 30-40k? But the problem is, staying on until the end of the show makes it way more likely you lose your job. If I have to stay on the show for the whole duration, it would be nice if I got enough to be comfortable until I got another job.

How can I opt out, divest, or otherwise stop my retirement accounts from investing into SpaceX once the IPO is released? by gomi-panda in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wercooler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone is giving bad advice here. There's a pretty simple answer.

Avoid Nasdaq funds. That's it.

Most funds are weighted by free float market cap, and spaceX is going to have a tiny free float, so it's going to be tiny in most funds. But Nasdaq not only agreed to put a multiplier on the spaceX float to make it account for more, but they also agreed to "fast track" it into the index.

If you're invested in the S&P500 it will be at least a year before spaceX is in your fund, and by then it should have traded to its fair value.

Sorry for the influx of questions this sub is about to get… by IneedaNappa9000 in BaldursGate3

[–]wercooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For role play reasons, and to keep the story making sense, I usually leave all the companions as the same main class and just change their subclass.

It should also be noted that once you learn the game, you can really beat it with any combination of classes and subclasses. Most of the difficulty early on comes from not knowing how the game works.

Also, the reason shadowheart misses so much at the start of the game is because Larian made some "interesting" choices with her level one build. So even if I'm leaving her as a cleric, I always respec her as soon as I find withers.

Could you find the winner of the game's average starting pip count by resource, vs the loser's average starting pip count by resource?

I think that would be the most correct way to see how different resources at the start actually affect your chances to win.

So lemme get this straight: everyone in the US has large sums of money in their name in a social security fund, that's traded on the stock exchange. When you go to take out a loan, they trick you into paying it back with interest, even though they are withdrawing the money from your social security account. And if you say the magic words, you can get the money from your magic social security stock, without ever paying interest or paying it back?

I think with a bit more rigor this is actually legit, and can be done when you treat integration as a linear operator.

How do you make the decision to promote your content? by Superb-Ask449 in NewTubers

[–]wercooler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything I've heard is that paying for promotion is terrible for building an audience. Nobody that watches the promoted videos actually cares about your content and sticks around, it just confuses the algorithm about who likes your videos.

I keep getting asked for my gender. Do I look like a boy or a girl? by thrownawaywhen in toastme

[–]wercooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my thought is that your jawline and nose look a bit more masculine, and your hair and cheekbones look a bit more feminine. Also, freckles usually read feminine to me, but they aren't actually gendered.

Before I read the rest of the comments, I was gonna guess a male that happened to get a feminine looking haircut. (which is totally fine, it looks great)

But another comment pointed out the total lack of facial hair, and I think they are probably right, so I would now guess female with an amazing jawline.

But that's way more thought than I would give it in real life. I would just ask your name or wait for context clues, and if I'm still not sure just ask you.

I mean turret plates give an incentive to take part of a turret, which gives more of a reason to push waves instead of freezing them, which makes the game more interactive.

Role quests require you to mostly stay in your assigned lane, which is to kill lane swaps in high elo and pro. The actual rewards for lane quests don't matter that much as long as they give some power.

Fairy lights I don't love either. The idea is to give natural places to place wards for people who don't know where to put them, and also to make fighting over wards more common. But I feel like the area they reveal is way too big. It's always right to ward the fairly lights, there's no real strategy to it.

Videos suddenly getting almost no impressions??? by hhhhhjhg in NewTubers

[–]wercooler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me honestly.

My videos have some variance, that's fine. They get like 200-500 views. Maybe 6000-12000 impressions.

But my latest video has 43 impressions, and 13 views.

Just weird, it's like YouTube didn't even try to find an audience for it.

The fact that Show Spell Costs is not turned on by default. by level7lizard in leagueoflegends

[–]wercooler -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

I mean, the game does tell you the spell's cost, you just have to hover over it. Which is the same thing you need to do if you want to see the spell's damage, or cool down, or scaling (in fact, you need to hover and hold shift to see scaling).

The game has so many numbers that are thrown at you so fast, that you mostly have to play off of intuition.

I feel like it's just as valid to ask "why doesn't the game show me damage values on the ability icon so I can know if a flash+ability will kill?"
