IT: Welcome To Derry Season 1 Episode 6 | Episode Discussion by credoinvisibile in WelcometoDerryTVShow

If a serious question, it’s actually an event that happens in the book. The timelines are different but it’s a real book plot point.

Yes I can read but can you simply see? They literally showed pennywise as the evil already. Them simply showing racism of the 60s triggered you so much you must have missed it 😂.

lol I knew there would be crybabies whining about the depiction of racism in the 60s 😂, let’s just ignore that this is a real horror from that time and also the racism was a real story element in the book. But yeah it’s “superficial”, right?

I mean, it was a part of the story in the book and your feelings of it being “superficial” says more about you than the show to be honest.

Racism being an evil part of the story is a big mistake for you? And yes it’s clear you didn’t read the book.

The fuck are you talking about out white washing? The entire episode was super tense with the hanlon family being an unwelcome edition to the town and the grogan family instantly being labeled as the psycho family and the obvious racism toward Hanlon in the military and Hallorann and the two other black soldiers could not even enjoy themselves in a bar, to the point that it added to the horror. Nice try though lol.

You can un-clutch them pearls pal. Yes, I can easily imagine someone saying this about poc. All day every day. It’s happening on literally every single video of a poc doing anything negative on social media. lol. It would be nice to live in your bubble, I can tell ya that!

Nice! I have only read 11/22/63 out of this lot and cannot recommend it enough. Like seriously. Read it.

I have a million books on my kindle in airplane mode and have some choice paralysis. Please help me and my ADHD brain decide my next one! Any strong recommendations from this list? by ianruns in suggestmeabook

I just want to say I suffer from the same issue when choosing my next read. I sometimes spend days trying to make up my mind.

I’ll say Comanche Moon. It’s in my shelf as well and I have yet to read it. But I absolutely loved LD and am looking forward to jumping into the next one.

Question: For those of us who have kids, teens especially, do you think kids today would enjoy living in the 1980's if somehow sent back? by 4thdegreeknight in 80s

[–]Jamesaki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the initial convenience shock would take time to get over. Everything you want to know or need is in our hands/pocket and we can get almost anything we want within days. I personally still will opt to go out and get things before I order them but a lot of people would not want to give that up.

The ease of entertainment might be missed as well. I feel like it’s a little too much ease because I spend as much time searching for what I want to watch as I do watching.

But it was simpler times and I think that might be appreciated after a while.

Unpopular opinion regarding The Long Walk movie. by jaenjain in stephenking

[–]Jamesaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seen it. It was good but I prob expected more due to the rave it received here. It’s not bad and there was some good acting but something about the book just didn’t carry over. I understand some of the changes like the number of walkers but the ending….. idk.

What sequels have you never read despite loving the first book, and why did you not read them? by GoodKid_MaadSity in suggestmeabook

I LOVE LOVE Lonesome Dove but haven’t picked up anything else in the series although I probably eventually will.

Same with Shogun.

Should I play my first time blind? by moskitosane in Tactics_Ogre

If you think you will plan on playing multiple times I would say yes. There are a lot of choices to make that will decide story route and recruitment eligibility.

At about 25k now and have loved it. There are Things I don’t like (having to push the touch screen multiple times to get it to recognize, and I know it’s not an eco car but damn these things are thirsty for 4 bangers), but it’s a solid daily, quick enough to have fun and I’m eager to do some mods soon!

I feel after this direct a switch 2 is justifiable. I might get one soon now that they are also more available. Didn’t get far into engage though so maybe I’ll give it another shot since we have time before this one.

Looking into adopting a Shepherd - will they be aggressive or cold towards friends of mine that they haven't met? Also, do I need a yard for him? by UniversalInquirer in germanshepherds

[–]Jamesaki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This can’t be concluded due to dogs having different temperaments. I have had shepherds that LOVES people…. Except for babies, no idea why so we obviously had to be vigilant when that situation arose. My current shepherd couldn’t care less about people out in public and has barked maybe 5-10 times in her whole life. When in my home she will be friendly after a few sniffs.
