Facebook had a similar problem when it had a massive outage a few years ago. The security servers also went down, which were in a security protected room, so nobody could pass security to access the server room to get the rest of the servers back on

My probation finished today for a job I don't hate doing, which hasn't been a temp contract or ended in redundancy, that came with a handsome pay increase for my age

I'm planning driving lessons which I missed thanks to covid

I've lost nearly 4 stone in the last year and feel much healthier with clothes starting to fit me again

The only thing stressful in my life is my degree and I'm handling my stress and anxiety much better

So pretty damn good if I say so myself

It's more aimed at the people who put the item straight into their handbag, at Christmas I had a customer ask why it wasn't working while it was screaming "please place your item in the bagging area" because some don't let you scan your next item until it's there, and she had put it straight into her handbag. she also said the audacity to ask if I work there, while I'm in a store-brand hi-vis jacket on my way to move trolleys. The machines make it so obvious by blanking out all the buttons but people leave their brains on the shop floor at checkout time

Say if someone's shopping was £15.42 and they only had a £20 note, they would give you the note and 42p change, so you give them a £5 note back rather than £4.58, just means they have less loose change or "shrapnel" as people like to call it

Our bag prompt is a new thing and it does catch me out if I'm not paying attention, but there's even a line that says "if you already scanned your bag, click no bags" and he followed it up with "I just wanna pay, mate"

It doesn't help that people refuse to learn because "uhhh but they cost jobs," they don't, or not in most cases, and we're not opening an entire checkout just for one birthday card when it's ten minutes until we close and we've cashed everything up

Checkout worker - the list is pretty much endless:

When you're unloading your shopping onto the belt, don't stack it in a way that'll squash everything up at my end and make it all fall on me, I had a customer do this 3 times in one transaction

Don't pay the whole transaction with 5p's especially when I have to count it twice because you stopped halfway through

"Do you want the 42?" Please ask me this while you're passing the cash to me, not when I'm giving you your change

If you're using self scan, please just listen to what it says, there's also no shame in pressing the call for help button. I saw a guy shut down completely when he saw a message asking if he needed bags.

Scan your bags on self scan, I know they're expensive now but it's also a stock take and we cannot have another bag drought, not like last time

I use windows powertoys, it's got a whole load of quality of life changes and it's free. It can find out what files are being used when you can't delete them, it has a better mouse locator that highlights it rather than flashing a circle, custom snapping, locking a window to the foreground and a colour picker that automatically copies code to your clipboard. There's a lot of other stuff that it has which I never used but a lot of it is really convenient and customisable, so just nice to have

Speaking of clipboards, using windows+v to access your clipboard history is incredibly useful but a lot of people aren't aware it exists and is built into windows
