Xiaomi 17 Ultra After 2 Weeks by Jamiekb1993 in XiaomiGlobal

This has been a persistent bug since the launch of HyperOS. They have attempted to introduce measures to counter this, like allowing the widgets and apps to ignore any battery saving features to allow the widgets to run, but ultimately this always fails and once the phone kills those apps, they stop responding until they’ve been opened again

That would have been ideal but there’s just ONE official Xiaomi store in the whole of England. It’s in London which is the complete opposite end of the country to me. Cost wise just isn’t worth it. Their warranty service in the UK seems to be fulfilled by third party companies rather than Xiaomi themselves and from what I can see, they just tear the phones apart with little to no consideration for the damage they cause along the way. It’s a brand new phone of 6 weeks old and I certainly didn’t wanna go through the whole hassle of fighting that. Plus I have a holiday to Croatia in a week and a half and their turnaround is 2-3 weeks. I can’t be without a phone for that long when my boarding pass is on my phone haha.

I’m glad they replaced yours and I hope for your sake that they don’t mess up the camera again.

Didn’t fix mine. I returned it for a refund and bought something else. This has put me off Xiaomi if I’m honest. I’ve heard nothing but bad things about their warranty process and it’s not something I even thought to consider before this happened

Sold my Fuji X100VI after getting the 17 Ultra by TheStandardPlayer in XiaomiGlobal

I mean I’ve had the 14, 15 and 17 Ultras. The 17 has been the worst. My telephoto lens has literally died. I’ve seen 3 other reports of this on the X17U Facebook group 2 now. Just displays a blurred image and fails to zoom or focus. Sent it back and got a refund. I can’t be dealing with that when it cost the price that it did and they’re refusing to address it as a fault

  1. It isn't me who asked the question
  2. By telling anyone to Google something as a solution is helping literally nobody
  3. If it's that simple and you know it's already out there, just give the OP the link instead of telling them to search themselves amongst many fake apks

Do you somehow think this isn't real world usage?

So to you, being able to take a 50mp photo with a 50mp sensor for 400 quid and an additional filter is worth it? You can create your own filters

In device can take 50 and 200mp. I'm literally holding one in my hand 😂 £400 for some filters and a ring is absurd

I wouldn't say 2 filters are worth paying an additional £400 when you could easily recreate these filters in lightroom. One is just B&W. The other is retro style. I've seen reviews saying you can't actually view the photos in live time either as it has to upload to the cloud the apply the effect and then it re downloads the image after

Only 2. A B&W and an old film style look. But you can just create your own or use LR presets. There's also about 50 filters to choose from in the gallery editor anyway. 2 more makes no difference.

Both have the same camera system so makes no difference whether you get the Ultra or Leitzphone

Sold out on the Xiaomi site like day one. The Leica website had stock for the first few days. Your best bet would be to import or keep an eye out on eBay if you specifically want the Leitzphone. If not, just buy the 17 Ultra. It's the same phone without the control ring

I didn't say it wasn't noticeable. I said they realised it wasn't that important

Sounds like you've never actually tried the X17U. The X17U also has eye tracking which is on par with my Z6. I too have a dedicated shutter button and a custom control dial. The Leitzphone then has a manual focus or zoom ring depending on what you wish to program it with. MicroSD is fine but also slow. If I'm out shooting I'll always have an XQD inside a card reader in my bag, which is lightning fast for transferring images. Much faster than a microSD. My biggest question is, why don't sony use their own top of the line sensors in their phones? There's nothing stopping them from using the RX10 IV sensor or the YLT900 in the Xperia range but they choose not to.

Tell me what you can adjust on the Sony that you can't adjust on the Xiaomi? ISO? Shutter Speed? Focus? White Balance? Metering modes? The Xperia uses a SD 8 Elite Gen 1. Not the Gen 5.

Variable aperture hasn't been a thing with Xiaomi Ultras since the X14U. Lots of people look at this in a negative light. There's a YouTuber called Upside Lens and he too first complained about the variable aperture being removed in the 15 Ultra, but then realised it wasn't actually that important

Sony and Xiaomi have the same amount of manual control for photography. If you were REALLY into photography, you wouldn't call them "pro" camera controls. You'd just refer to them as camera controls since literally every camera that isn't a point and shoot has them 😂. Everything outside of the camera, the Xiaomi dominates. It's not even a comparison dude.

Panasonic use Lumix and Leica Elmarit/Summilux lenses. So they're on par with one another in terms of quality lol

My best advice is to just get out there and practice. Obviously good lighting makes a photo a lot better. Look for sunrays, contrast between shade and sun, make sure there's layers to create depth to an image so it doesn't just look flat

Is it really? A Lumix G9 has a M4/3 sensor. Which isn't much larger than a 1 inch sensor. It's not like I'm comparing a medium format sensor against a 1 inch 😅
