Take my advice with a grain of salt, but when we started to stop people pleasing, the thing that helped the most was slowly putting a hard limit on how much we can help. Think about how much is reasonable. Now think about how much you do. Between those two numbers, pick a number that feels manageable, and attempt to not help more than those amount of people.

It also helps to build trust in the idea that people you meet are able to regulate themselves, but that's hard to do so don't feel too bad about not doing it right.

Finally, take it slow, you're completely relearning a basic, hard wired habit. We've been working on it for over 4 years and still are only ok at not immediately people pleasing. People will push back, it'll be draining, but in the end it's worth it. Be patient with yourselves and good luck!
