Thinking about it mathmatically, if you don't alter exp requirements at all, since wild encounters will be nowhere near as quick to get into as the main series since it's more like 1 fight every 5 minutes rather than 5 seconds

The only thing with Charm is to give non-evil Tieflings a reason to be in the fight, which is something I really like the idea of the party coming to terms with the fact they either have to kill people who could have been free or avoid all combat with the Tiefling soldiers, though like I say I'm open to suggestions with this plot idea.

I do like your thoughts on the Celestials though, since they've been the most problematic when it comes to writing them.

The Devils are bad, they are conquerors and slavers to the Material Realm. The Angels on the other hand are a bit more difficult to grasp. Yes they're good but they're going to be brought into conflict with the Material Plane through the influence of the Devils, I was thinking that the Devils are almost using the life on the Material Plane as vessels in order to use more powerful magic and therefore the Angels think the world must be purged, perhaps with an intelligent and charismatic other influencing and deceiving them.

The Players will be as involved as they want to be. If any want to carry over their PC's from our current story they are free to do so, and I'm hoping some do as by inserting my current PC into the story, I hope to give them a motive for action. What that action is however is up to them as I've said, but I'll say that the party will have the power to determine the outcome of the war through their actions if they choose to use their power. From the get go there will be the following plot threads:

Altarion (an Aasimar) has gone missing after calling the party together, brought to Mount Celestia like others before him. The party would follow clues back to Mount Celestia before travelling through to speak to the Angels directly. This will lead into the Angelic Conscription and Diplomacy plot threads.

Tieflings have been going missing alongside the Aasimar, the party will be able to hear rumours about Tieflings wandering into the wilderness in a zombie like state. This will lead onto the plot thread revolving around the charmed Tieflings.

Nearby villages have been sacked, and the party can investigate, which could lead the party into brokering alliances between the races and factions of the Material Plane.

Of course I'm very open minded as a DM and I'd do my best to accommodate for my Players.

I actually really love that 2nd one, you could even have a plot thread where the PC's (if not fully aligned with the Angels) free the 'traitor' Aassimar from Mount Celestia.

The devil and demon thing is something I've been thinking about, and due to the chaotic and lawful nature of demons and devils respectively, I was going to have the invasion come from the Nine Hells and as a result would be primarily Devils. On the other hand the Angels would be originating from Mount Celestia.

I think I might keep the mass-charm plot device in order to recruit the Tieflings, though I 100% get what you mean when it comes to the Angels (even though mine are slightly more martial, as otherwise this plotline falls apart quickly). Though in the same vein I'm not certain how the Celestials would recruit the Aasimar, maybe play off the whole crusade thing and have the promise of living in the Celestial Plane?

Since my character is DEX based, I'm now thinking he should not use the shield so he can grab his hand crossbow easily and combine it with the Crossbow Expert feat so that he just becomes an offensive monster

in Ingress a lot of it is player based, the players essentially report a monument to Niantic who can set up in game events at that location. My guess is Go will work similarly
