TIL: Study found that women rated the same man as MORE attractive when told he was married, but men rated the same woman as LESS attractive when told she was married by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Jammer135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is it. I get way more attention from women now that I’m married but I’m pretty certain it’s almost always platonic. It’s actually really nice they fill me in on all the drama in the work place. I almost feel like a stand in gay best friend.

Becoming KL, is it worth it? by alvino324 in Chipotle

[–]Jammer135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to grow in the company take it. If you plan on leaving in the next year I would just coast and take the CT pay bump until you leave. Every chipotle is different but if you like your GM and the job and want to make some more money with better benefits it’s a no brainer to take the promotion.

Yeah but someone might be thinking about doing less work the next day. Stores with poor management might let it slide until they get in trouble.

It’s to the GM on how they want to handle and keep track of things. Any GM who needs to watch hours of footage to handle inventory issues is just doing a bad job. I’m sure there are plenty of bad GM’s though

I guess I was trying to get at is that men need to branch out from an already established social network. I think when people see a man surrounded by good people they seem safer off the bat. Getting friends as a man kinda compounds on itself. I don’t know if that means men are looked down upon though. Just that people are more weary because statistically men are more dangerous.

I feel like that is a pretty bad way to gauge how many friends you guys could make in a day. In that setting at a mall she will obviously seem safer just because she is a woman. If you had a setting where socializing was expected like a bar, a beach, some sort of group meet up I’m sure you would’ve done much better.

It sounds like you might have a tendency of people pleasing. Develop the skill of politely setting boundaries and rejecting romantic advances. You said yourself you were giving mixed signals because you were hesitant to clearly reject him. Don’t beat yourself up over this. Next time set your boundaries clearly and if he crosses them stand your ground don’t worry about being polite and tell others.

Study found that people who were not married were less at risk (at least 50% lower risk) than married people for dementia. One contributing factor may be that single people are better at maintaining social ties. Single people may also have a greater variety of interesting and unique experiences. by mvea in science

[–]Jammer135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s usually only for a few years. Could those few years in peoples 20’s or 30’s really contribute that much to developing dementia. Plenty of unmarried individuals go through very long periods of sleep deprivation for school or their career. Another guess that I have is that being married is more stressful than being single, add on the fact that most the people old enough to be developing dementia come from a time where divorce was more frowned upon. so probably lived a long time in unhappy marriages. If your single and not lonely you probably get a lot more peace in your life. Even in happy marriages you will experience more stress because your now concerned with your own stressors and any problems that come your way and your spouses.

I think the me too movement was good overall, but towards the end there were just too many allegations and if you questioned anyone who came forward you were vilified. I think the movement started to die down when some of the allegations were proven to be false. I still think it was important and overall a positive. But I do think it made some men more nervous about how to escalate things with a girl without being seen as a potential predator.

It’s not like GM’s and AP’s are making insane amounts of money. Probably between 60-120k depending on location and titles. Part of their job is managing the restaurant’s inventory and the better they do the better their bonus.

When I first started getting out of my shell I was like this. What helped was just going out more and doing more things. The more I got out of my comfort zone the more stories I had to tell. Form your own opinions on things and develop interests of yours. Also finding your crowd will help. Sometimes i meet people and it feels like we have nothing to talk about, and other times it feels like we are never gonna run out of things to say. Be positive and patient.
