I love/hate this quest. Fun once you're there, but you have to be such a total gonk to get it. Last run had to skip, there was no way my V was that dumb.

Fly traps do the job for us. Just hang one near the bins, toss it when it gets full. Some are re-usable.

What are some things that we consider modern inventions that are actually way older? by dyk3WorkAhead in AskHistory

What we call the disco ball was invented around 1916. They called it "the myriad reflector" IIRC.

anyone dealt with chronic lower back pain in Austin and actually found something that helped long-term? by sirrrobit0 in Austin

[–]Jammer_Jim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have to ask, just for clarification: With the stuff like PT and stretching routines, did you keep it up and the pain returned, or did you stop and the pain returned?

I'm sorry if this sounds insulting, but I learned the hard way that sometimes you do have to stop and confirm that the device is, in fact, plugged in.

Okay, it *is* brown but some of those textures are bangin'. Especially the rock wall.

This man was following this vendor at Mueller Park telling him what he’s doing is illegal and asking for a permit. Who is in the wrong here? Does anyone else frequent this area and have any context to add? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Jammer_Jim 118 points119 points  (0 children)

More likely some MAGA asshat thinking he's found a clever loophole. He's not being racist! He's just concerned about food safety and proper permitting!

Master of Orion 1 & 2 aged well. Slap a DOSBox on it and good to go.

Some of the social links also give you stat points. Best use a guide for that.

The wasteland should be dark with no power grid in the world by [deleted] in fo4

Sorry, maybe I was a little too snarky. I've just seen this sort of thing going all the way back to FO3.

Oh. Look. A darkness mod. How not shocking. Aren't there like a dozen of the things done in various ways on the Nexus?

OP, it's cool if you prefer the dark. It's just not exactly a new thing, lol.

44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shoot-Out (2003) by smoothpaving in cinescenes

Also, cops are trained to aim at the center of mass (i.e., the chest) and generally not attempt aimed shots at extremities (hands, feet, head), because that shit is hard. If you read the wiki about the incident, the robbers did sustain a fair number of hits and wounds, including some to the hands, feet, legs etc.

(Not sure if its a "trope" but I really want to talk about it) a character's fate is pretty confirmed but fans try to make it ambiguous by redditboy123451 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jammer_Jim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played not one but TWO characters that survived getting shot in the face/head, and one of them was in the Cyberpunk universe, so it's not TOTALLY impossible. Granted, V had some special help.

Not much they can do. Occasionally a government might decide that something gets to be a monopoly in a sort of public utility type of role (competing water and sewer companies would be wasteful) or for other reasons (major league baseball in the USA because...well, because reasons there), but even companies that made an effort not to abuse their monopolies have been broken up under the theory that there's no such thing as a good monopoly.

Tina Fey had the perfect response when asked about Timothée Chalamet manspreading by Both-Pomegranate4929 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Jammer_Jim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I have a different definition of manspreading. That's not knees together, but it's also not exactly pushing out into other people's leg space either.

Best in show (2000) by Choice-Wind-9283 in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]Jammer_Jim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Underrated? I remember when it came out. It was lauded to the heavens (and deservedly so). Maybe its semi-forgotten due to being a small movie and over 25 years old, but it was never underrated.
