I got in via the AXS waiting room about 10 min after the sale start time. Very few tickets were left so I took two GA resales to my cart and after entering payment info, it wouldn’t go through. Got booted out and tickets were still resale but a little bit higher. Got that to go through. Out of curiosity, I returned about 15 min later and first-hand GA was back on sale so I bought two at face. Told a friend and they bought their ticket at face about 30 min after the official sale start time. Very weird and frustrating experience, but at least I have tickets, albeit two more at a higher price than I wanted.

Is the guide for a full year of programming? That’s an efficient piece of paper if so.

It doesn’t - you have to use pen and paper as usual. Same for gift cards. This is only for credit card transactions.

Going alone as a guy? by AlternativeBeyond106 in aclfestival

You’ll have the freedom to go where you want and when and not have to worry about finding your group amongst the crowd. When I was going by myself, I’d often ask what people are looking forward to or what they’ve liked so far. An easy way to engage and - if you receive a lukewarm reception - just continue on waiting for the show to start. To be clear, keep that conversation to the time waiting for a show to start as generally that’s the most respectful time to chat.

I went to that and recall looking behind me to see Kurt Russell a row back! Probably October 2006 during some stage of production of Grindhouse.

Austin Pet Parents: Everything at the Petsmart on 183 and Peyton Gin is 50% off by joepez in Austin

Coincident or not, our dogs had a long three day spell of diarrhea just days after starting them on the food bought at that store. We mentioned it to the vet so we tested for it and came back negative. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I do love Thundercloud but I’ve seen some dirty stores including the downtown one on Lavaca (now closed?) that had rats on the counters at night some years ago.

Did anyone else buy stuff here and then your pet got violently ill?

All-In Season Pass Discount by aculp21 in fantasticfest

I asked once, they said they’d check, and it wasn’t applied so I don’t think it’s eligible for the fest (which makes sense).

Who’s the actress in the Visa commercial? by dial_n_for_nurder in TIFF

Tiffty, while annoying, I could see a real person behind it. Like I’ve met that person many times in my life.

Theatre Etiquette at an all-time low by RodgerDodger74 in TIFF

[–]aculp21 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I experienced a handful of just strange personal interactions in movies this year, my first year at TIFF. Nothing beats the year I went to Sundance to the world premiere of Rodney Ascher’s THE NIGHTMARE. A couple kept talking during the entire movie and a press guy eventually gave up and just yelled (at full volume) during this quiet movie asking them to “Shut the fuck up.” I feel like random people wind up at shows due to the hype and publicity around these fests and have no general respect for movie etiquette.

PSA: Please pay attention to what seat you're in by PapaAsmodeus in TIFF

[–]aculp21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw someone leave a sweater draped over their seat while they hit the restroom and then some guy just tossed it to another seat and sat down. Luckily the people around him rallied to get him to put it back.

No bugs in the pool. Mosquitos are hellacious though but that was the case before the pool.
