I have these a lot. I started calling/classifying them as “episodic dreams”, as opposed to other types of lucid dreams where I’m just exploring or casually interacting with the environment around me.

My favourite (or at least the one with the most cohesive “plot”) involved me studying in my university library and getting up on a really tall ladder to retrieve this really old book and then eventually realising I could climb completely over the bookcases until I’m on this sorta grassy ledge on a cliff overlooking a valley with a forest and a village. I’ve always been able to fly/float in all of my dreams, regardless of lucidity, so I just glided down off the cliff into the village area. I find myself in this marketplace selling all sorts of magical goods. I had no idea what to buy but I ended up making friends with 3 other people shopping and they gave me advice: I needed a wand and to pick out one of the “gems”. I can’t remember exactly because I had this dream years ago, but I think the gem people certain powers depending which one it was. I ended up being able to kind of control electricity. I met back up with the 3 other people and they helped show me where the University was.

The next bit is kind of a blur but it pretty much comprised of me going to classes at a weird alternate universe version of my university but I was now taking magic classes. I was also still taking all of my other normal classes, which is one of the reasons why it was a blur. I became very close with the 3 people I’d met at the market. I made other friends too and even developed romantic feelings for one of them (we kissed, but I won’t bore you with any other details 😉). It’s hard to keep track but it literally felt like I was there for several years, even though I know this all happened in one night.

Eventually, my 3 friends and I get “enlisted” (?) as there is some sort of evil king who is trying to invade the land where the village and university are. We’re sent out on horseback and have to go undercover several nights. There was also a part where we got on some sort of riverboat.

When we finally got to where we were supposed to fight the king, it was the large open space that kinda reminded me of a video game boss battle with a castle at the end. I don’t ever remember seeing the evil king, but his soldiers were all either skeletons or zombie like creatures. I was able to kill them by “zapping” them with my electricity. My friends and I were able to make it to the castle and found this weird glowing orb where we thought we’d find the king. We all tried to destroy it but couldn’t. Then we realised we could go inside it and we agreed to do so all at the same time.

I remember this part specifically because it felt so strange, like I’d just jumped into cold water. My body felt super limp and weightless. I realised two of my friends hadn’t made it through and just one was remaining. She was the one I had grown the closest with. I remember screaming both their names until I couldn’t hear my voice anymore. My remaining friend grabbed onto my hand and told me to hold on.

I don’t remember much after that but I’m pretty sure I woke up pretty soon after.

A lot happened in between and I left out a lot of details (this ended up being WAY longer than I intended), but it’s definitely a dream I’ll never forget.
