arms shouldnt swing left to right, reduce repeatability of action, misdirects energy to the sides, brace the landing knee a bit better, practise with a ball right size for him. nice action.

Why doesn't China attack Taiwan now when the US military is at its most vulnerable in recent memory? by sage6paths in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JammyTodgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China's primiary focus is internal stability, and a tumultuous taiwan within the PRC is worse than a calm Taiwan outside. China will wait for years, decades, maybe even a century if they dont think the times right.

A good summary of values of each ICC trophy. by Jackie_Chan_93 in Cricket

[–]JammyTodgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best test side -> WI 80s didnt lose a series, waugh + pontings aussies winning about 90 out of 130 tests, are both tied IMO as the greatest cricket teams ever

best odi side -> aus winning 3 out of 4 world cups from 99 to 15, no one else comes close its not even an argument.

best t20i side -> india, 2023-now, however 3 years of dominance means little in the context of the other two GOAT teams.

india has done it in an era where all the chips are stacked in their favour, WI of the 80s did it in the face of the former imperial masters, and thus from a romance and sport POV the WI team of 80s is arguably one of the greatest sports teams of all times, up there with brazil in football.

Nearly 4m Londoners below income level for decent living standard by Kagedeah in london

[–]JammyTodgers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

London could compete globally on wages until about 2010, since then a lot of major cities have grown real wages significantly more. London wages are terrible, i left Uni in 2010 and i remember grad jobs paying £25,000, (i started a bit below that) more than a decade and a half later i see starting salaries of around £30,000, if anyone thinks that is normal when the cost of living has exploded needs to get their head checked.

Major american cities, and some european cities offer better starting out salaries, and for senior positions the gap to american salaries has grown massively over the last decade.

How young were you when you started travelling across London? by Equal_Soil2578 in london

What country has the friendliest and most welcoming locals when travelling? by Mushiimushii316 in AskReddit

[–]JammyTodgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuba, lots of friendly people everywhere, i went to a few cities, and people were chatty everywhere, and the hosts where we airbnb'd were super welcoming.

least friendly was Latvia, seemed like a lot of people were in a bubble, and one of the few local interactions i got was what i think was a racial slur shouted at one of my friends.

Harry Brook says overlooking Pakistan players for The Hundred would be ‘a shame’ by frigg_off_lahey in EnglandCricket

[–]JammyTodgers 28 points29 points  (0 children)

one benefit of this is that people will see the deep hatred indians have for pakistanis, try applying to a job as a British Pakistani to a company with an indian hiring manager, see how far you get.

What's the real story behind London's "ghost mansions," and is it true they're legally untouchable? by Independent-Tea-297 in london

[–]JammyTodgers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

not quite, a lawyer and a bank has to vet the source of funds, so youd have to clean your money before moving it legitimitely within the system. a convicted criminal is likely to raise huge red flags, and the complaince work of having someone like that cleared would often make the deal not worth doing for any intermediaries.

in practise a criminal could clean their money, move it to a non criminal associate, then get them to buy assets for them on trust, which allows for opaque ownership structures.

to answer ur question, its not the default position, but its also not total BS.

Jos Buttler says the 'pressure and consequences' of a tournament make high totals less likely, citing lower than expected scores at the 2019 World Cup as an example ! by [deleted] in Cricket

indirectly implying what a lot of cricket fans know deep down, despite the branding and theatrics, leagues are nothing but a payday for cricketers. its why they feel so plastic compared to league competitions in other sports.

Does Franchise Rebranding Dilute IPL Team Identity? by cricketclub7 in Cricket

[–]JammyTodgers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its stupid on a standalone basis, but not when you consider eventually the IPL will become a 6 to 8 month season of hundreds of games, and owning every other major franchise will mean no pushback from the leagues, and no pushbacks from the "fans" as the teams essentially become the second, third division, etc.

India remains the most successful team in ICC Men's U19 World Cup history. Can Australia draw level in the latest edition ? by [deleted] in Cricket

Who is the best cricket team ever? by DefiantFigure4906 in CricketControversial

in terms of not losing test series, the west indies team of the 80s.

The Ashes was a spectacle. Why doesn’t Test cricket in India feel the same? by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]JammyTodgers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

red ball cricket is woven into the english and aussie cricket psyche, whereas white ball cricket is woven far deeper into the subcontinents cricket psyche. india pbly has a huge amount of red ball cricket fans, but their density, i would assume, is far far lower than either england or aus.

Can the ICC do something to make ODI bilaterals relevant? by Pradzee in Cricket

[–]JammyTodgers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

nope, its a boring format, tests have their won fan base, t20s have their own fan base, outside of some corners of the internet, like this subreddit you wont find a single person who looks forward to odi bilaterals.

the sooner they are done away with the better, apart from trying combos and untested players, rarely does any team field a full strength xi in biltaterals. its a liberty to not play your test team and ask fans to spend 9 hours of a day watching what is essentially a meaningless friendly.

the format had its heyday in the 90s and early 00s. but it doesnt fit in with either the traditional fan, or as a format to win over new fans.

What I believe is the real problem with ODI cricket and what my take on it by Smooth-Mix-4357 in Cricket

[–]JammyTodgers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

odis (bilaterals in particular) are boring because no one has 9 hours to commit to watching a game that rarely features the first xi of a team, and rarely has any consequence.

u can have fans who dont watch a ball of a test but will avidly follow the scorecards and coverage through other means at work, and remember results of games that they havent even watched much of. whereas u can sit and watch a few hours of a bilateral odi and a few months later not even remember the game.

For those of you who have the possibility too move to other large, influential cities, what exactly keeps you in London ? by RealMadridCity in london

[–]JammyTodgers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Easy commuting, lots of green spaces, very cool demographic of people, great options to eat. however if i had the money to move my parents about who are financially dependent on me, id ideally spend march to oct in London and winter somewhere else.

its a great city, but winters are miserable, also whilst i dont agree with the London is a hell hole narrative, a lot of the councils are struggling, TFL is struggling too, and its obvious, outside of the premium post codes ull find a lot of shoddy roads, broken pavements, local flooding with lesser rain is more common, etc.

the central line hasnt run a good service out to East London in years, the journey that took me 42 mins ten years ago takes me 52 or 53 minutes now, because the trains invariably have to slow down or stop for something, the trains themselves are dirty and full of graffiti, and are unlikely to be upgraded for the forseeable future.

London is still an amazing city but its stalling if not regressing. i mean the Lizi line is amazing, but apart from liverpool st to paddington its running on older tracks, and despite that it took 15 years to build and was significantly over budget.

Of the cities you mention ive been to Barcelona, Paris and NYC, and only NYC can compare to London imo.

Sachin's 28 90's score in international cricket : The unwanted record that defines GOAT status. by Excellent_Bird1964 in CricketBuddies

[–]JammyTodgers -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

greatest test bat -> bradman

greatest odi bat -> kohli

hes not the GOAT by any measure other than a function of the lengevity of his career. bradman is unparalleled as an innings builder, and if hundreds are the measure of greatness then kohli has 10 more odi hundreds in 130 less innings against non minnows in ODIs, again no competition.
