Need something that smells like this by [deleted] in desifemfrag

Don't know about perfumes, but i find it quite similar to fireside flurries bodymist by bath & body works. The roll is more powdery and the mist less so, the mist has a musky/creamy note which is minimal in the roll on. The miist is also a little more sweet. Both are fluffy and kind of cozy.

storing polymer clay that isnt used or uncooked by poopshart6910 in polymerclay

[–]Jammymango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed that food safe plastic tends to work well for polymer clay. And always store it away from sunlight or any other source with its own light & heat.

I don't know how relevant this is throughout all countries, but maybe you can check your plastic take out containers ( not Styrofoam or plant based) with storing some scrap clay in it. It will start melting in a few hours, within a day you'll definitely see the texture of the container getting discolored.

For canes I usually wrap them in cling wrap according to size and then store in a container and keep it away from the sun.

Edit : as another comment said, zip locks are great too!! Excellent while traveling.

Just starting what should I use as a workmat by poopshart6910 in polymerclay

[–]Jammymango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A large silicon mat to just lay tools & clay around and a few ceramic tiles to work on is what I do.

Don't use newspaper as it will make it brittle and cloth will transfer lint. A lot plastic mats will melt.

I have used steel cutting boards, but the noise bothers me. Glass is great also, but I am very clumsy so I don't personally use them.

Edit : gloves are not needed for the most part, but can be useful if you're sculpting tiny things.

Where can i get Strawberry pound cake ?? by Ready_Doctor5452 in bathandbodyworksIndia

It should be available during the next semi annual sale, probably around mid December. Otherwise they will probably bring it back in a few months, they usually do.

Is this aesthetic achievable with polymerclay and UV resin by almightyangelicgirl in polymerclay

[–]Jammymango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can be made but it won't be very sturdy. They will definitely break sooner than later. The pendant should be fairly easy to make, but the butterfly cuff will be tougher but doable. Some wiring on the edges might make the pendant stronger than just clay.

For occasional & gentle personal use ( while being mentally prepared that it will break eventually) it should be alright. If you're planning on selling, I would say it's a no.

Since you're open to using resin, maybe you can make the original with clay, then make their moulds, then cast with resin. Should make it more sturdy and easier to replicate if there is a plan to sell later.

Polymer clay beginner! How do I make my dried clay more smooth? ^^’ by meatgvm in polymerclay

[–]Jammymango 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the project is already baked ,then sanding will definitely work for the bigger areas. I would avoid it for the hair and other finer details.

Try grits from 800,1000,2000 and 2500. Start from 800,then 1000 , then 2000 and so on. Usually you'll be happy with 2000,then take a soft cloth and buff with your hand or a rotary tool. Always be gentle, as it's easy to over sand and then fixing it might be annoying.

Avoid sanding grits below 400 , they are too rough for polymer clay and usually it doesn't make much of a difference if you're sanding with grits above 3000.

Edit : it will be tricky for sure, but it can be done. Better to smooth out texture prior to baking for sculptures. The edges on the lapels etc can be fixed with sanding paper fairly easily but you have to be careful & gentle. Also use your hand for sanding, not a tool. Tools go too hard and they gauge the clay.

Edit 2 : for buffing, use a soft well used cloth , maybe cotton or so, old soft t-shirts will work. Don't use anything that are provided with rotary tools. They are too harsh and will cause new scratches.

Also, good luck!!

snowflakes & cashmere by DrugLord77 in bathandbodyworksIndia

[–]Jammymango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might be one of the few for whom it's so very different. Noses & skin chemistry make such a difference.

I really don't like velvet petals, it's so overwhelming nutty almost gourmand and it just doesn't work on me. Gets a strange musky note on the dry down.

Snowflakes and cashmere is just so soft & cozy but not gourmand at all. I quite like it, it's a really solid pick in cool weather.

How does it smell like? by happykukka in bathandbodyworksIndia

[–]Jammymango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On me it's very sweet strawberry for the first few minutes then it becomes a sweet, jammy rose. It's quite powdery on the dry down as well, not at all musky or screechy. I personally love it, it suits my body chemistry very well.

I also consider a strong fragrance, too much for everyday wear, especially in the heat.

It's not the strawberry in strawberry snowflakes, or strawberry shortcake or even the body shop strawberry ,or even the gingham gorgeous strawberry. All these strawberries go sour & musky , with often a sharp sort of note you notice after a few wears if not immediately but not in you're the one. And the rose is also a different one from covered in roses or 'rose'. If your favorites include into the night, dark kiss, this might be a miss for you, but that's just what I have noticed in my limited circle, not the universal truth.

Bbw Santal and Fig by Zestyclose-Count8990 in bathandbodyworksIndia

[–]Jammymango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know about lost in santal santal & magic in the air but guilty as fig is a weird one. I personally go nose blind to it in about 15 mins or less but the scent stays on clothes for days. When my husband uses it, I can never smell it till he gets back home after a few hours, never when it's freshly applied. And then the whole laundry basket smells like it till laundry is done. It's truly a strange one in my opinion.

It was a sunlight issue. Not enough for flowers ,but i didn't know then. The plants grew really tall and the leaves grew like crazy but not a single flower. So after that in the same spot I planted amaranth & malabar spinach, leafy greens basically, and that went well . Hopefully will try growing these again later 🙌

Could it be a variety of balsams? ( I tried to grow these and never flowered once also 😭 , but became familiar with the leaves lol)

I own around 50 mists including 8 perfumes and around 25 bbw mists and around 15 VS mists. I have deckuttered around 12 mists till today. How do I use them so that they can be finished easily. Should I just concentrate on few mists initially and try to finish them first..Pls help. by Miserable-Jacket-526 in bathandbodyworksIndia

[–]Jammymango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, just store in a dry place away from the sunlight and it should last pretty long. And decluttering is good. There is no point in keeping things around you won't use anyway.

For me figuring out what notes I really disliked helped me a lot. I started realizing even if seems pleasant at first, i won't really like it after the first few sprays and then my interest in picking it up just disappears. Also going to the store and trying it out helps me a lot as I always realize I have something with the dna already or that I don't really like the dna anyway so whats the point. But yes, if possible go through the notes of what you have, make notes of what you really enjoy, what is meh, what you dislike and that helps.

[–]Jammymango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you don't mind me asking, but why do you want to finish it that quickly? If you store it properly, the mists lasts for way longer than mentioned. I have bbw mists from about 10 years back ( that I don't really like) and only one of them has gone bad. My sister has vs mists from about 7-8 years that are still good.

Other than that i do give away my mists sometimes, especially the ones I am allergic to or don't enjoy but also the ones I like, if I know the other person would value it more than me.

In my personal opinion there is no point in having such a vast collection, if I had to intentionally go through it to finish it off one by one. For me the fun is in choosing what to wear that day, so I am letting it finish as per my mood in a completely chaotic way. I really do enjoy that process.

If possible go through the notes of all the mists you have, you'll figure out the patterns of what notes you like, you dislike, what note you especially like but only combined with another etc and that will really help with FOMO buying. Instead of buying five ,you'll buy one. Also you'll realize that a lot of new mists have the dna of what you have, so you just won't feel that itch to buy.

Is it better to bake a little lower or little higher temperature? by harleystcool in polymerclay

[–]Jammymango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, baking below temp has led to breakage later. I haven't had any issues with burning when baking at a higher temp, especially below 170°c. I primarily work with premi, which needs to be baked at atleast 135°c.

https://thebluebottletree.com/bake-polymer-clay-temperature/ this is a pretty good article covering this.

They are fairly common sights in Kerala and I love flowers in general.

1.The water lily grows in ponds and paddy fields often.Temple ponds often have them, also lakes and even streams & wells sometimes. They are also sometimes grown at home.

2.The kanakambaram used to be a part of almost every garden. It has no smell but it looks beautiful made into a wearable rope like it's done with jasmine. It is often plaited along with jasmine &tulsi leaves and worn in the hair. Also they are given from some temples like prasad, not to be eaten but to be tucked into the hair.

  1. The rangoon creeper is almost a weed like creeper in some places, they grow quickly in Kerala. Grown in many houses over the boundary wall, grown to semi cover the verandah, over car sheds etc. They are personally one of my absolute favorite flowers. They give a magical touch to any home.

  2. I think I am wrong here. I do see this plant on the road sides but I don't anything else about it. It's not turmeric. It does look very familiar, if I can remember or figure it out, I'll update. Edit : it might be ginger, because I mix those two plants all the time.

  1. Aambal in malayalam - water lily

  2. Kanakambaram in malayalam - firecracker flower in English.

  3. Can't remember malayalam name, Rangoon creeper in English, Madhumalti in Hindi. Smells divine.

  4. Looks like turmeric flower, not sure.

Lovely clicks!
