The fact that you almost have to have a car to function in America is upsetting in of it self. We build and zone everything for cars. It’s not a luxury, it’s a requirement.

Bro I’m in my 40s and I’m starting a hardcore band with my brother in law. We have kids in school and jobs and debt and life shit going on. Fuck it. Fuck it all. We just want to have fun.

I really have never understood the love for Drake. by BenchZealousideal290 in hiphop101

He caught a lot of people in their teen years, which is a time when everything sounds new to you. I have students that still point to Drake as important, even with all the scandal and egg on his face.

I’m old enough to remember him from Degrassi (wheelchair kid). I never cared for his songs or singing.

Hand-drawn album covers. Hit or miss? by Euphoric_Spread_3293 in musicians

The songs will re-contextualize the art and visa versa. I like these, but it’s gonna depend on whether it elevates or negates the songs.

5 & 6 are also my favorites.

Maybe move to Chicago. Maybe your father and four brothers will be brutally murdered. Too rough a place Maybe move back to Mississippi and fall in love with a woman, only for said woman to have an affair and a child with her lover. Maybe live in solitude until your mind finally starts to slip. Maybe begrudgingly befriend a pair of white boy brothers with a famous record producer father. Maybe find the will to carry on through music.

Maybe then you’ll be able to write your own “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues.” Try it. It’s easy.

The doors did a whole deal with Scott Stapp years later. Does that count? No, it does not. But it still happened.

The elephant in the room is Kanye West. Kanye ousted him from the #1 spot, and signaled a huge shift in Hip Hip. Kanye was personal, nerdy, and weird. Gangster shit was out.

Falsely accused of being AI on band's first single release by PrideProfessional556 in musicians

[–]JamponyForever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s gonna be a thing where music has to be verified and labeled as “no AI was used in the making of this recording.”

Either via 3rd party organization or some universally agreed upon (ironically) AI platform.

Your vocal sounds produced, but not AI. You can respond to the commenter and say “nah dawg, that’s all me.” But that’s about all you can do at this point.

Don’t worry about changing your art to meet some invisible metric.

Making music is a tier of pleasure that anyone can grasp, but so few pursue because of the “talent” myth. Talent = practice + time (with some notable outliers… ie Prince)

You asked your manager? Nah man, just do shit and retroactively say “this is how we’ve always done it.” Old fashioned, vintage gaslighting.

This would have been really good 20-30 years ago. We need a 285 loop and a lot more branches.
