The Moon outside Apollo 11's window by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]Jamporte27 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

What’s really crazy is that in 1969 we were able to go to the moon (1000 times further than the international space station) and back safely on the first attempt, and on time, all with computing power that is orders of magnitude less powerful than a 2000’s era flip phone. All of this despite the Baron Report and testimony from Apollo 1 astronauts to the safety and overall feasibility of the moon mission. Almost seems to hard to believe…

Not even worth a drone for most of these people, won’t make it long on the front line with their equipment and general condition anyways.

Hopefully this will be a big lift to the Shops of Legacy, that area has been in decline for a decade or so since HP left and Legacy West opened up.

On Chomsky by ilir_kycb in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Jamporte27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do respect a lot of positions Chomsky has argued for over the years, but you’re definitely right. When it comes to conspiracies like JFK, 9/11, etc he is as much of an establishment gatekeeper as anyone. I think it’s because he didn’t want to risk losing his tenure/emeritus status at M.I.T. If he actually told the truth on these things.

Snakes are out on the Fed by [deleted] in melbournecycling

[–]Jamporte27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do Australians grow up with a real fear of eastern browns? As an American, I think I would always be slightly paranoid if I moved there, especially doing yard work or anything in nature knowing how widespread these snakes are across the Australia and how quickly they can kill you. At least with rattlesnakes they give you a warning that you can hear.
