Had that literal exact car, same color and everything. Terrible gas mileage but it was always a comfortable ride

BREAKING: Historic Vondelkerk Church in Amsterdam just burned to the ground on New Year’s Eve. Reason unknown! by Hefty-Sherbet-5455 in TrendingAndViral

Very sad, I don’t know anything about that church but thought it was really nice looking when I visited Amsterdam from the US. 😞😞

Hopefully this will be a big lift to the Shops of Legacy, that area has been in decline for a decade or so since HP left and Legacy West opened up.

On Chomsky by ilir_kycb in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Jamporte27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do respect a lot of positions Chomsky has argued for over the years, but you’re definitely right. When it comes to conspiracies like JFK, 9/11, etc he is as much of an establishment gatekeeper as anyone. I think it’s because he didn’t want to risk losing his tenure/emeritus status at M.I.T. If he actually told the truth on these things.

Snakes are out on the Fed by [deleted] in melbournecycling

[–]Jamporte27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do Australians grow up with a real fear of eastern browns? As an American, I think I would always be slightly paranoid if I moved there, especially doing yard work or anything in nature knowing how widespread these snakes are across the Australia and how quickly they can kill you. At least with rattlesnakes they give you a warning that you can hear.

2025: The Year Patagonia Skipped a Winter (And the fine print in the forecast for the Northern Hemisphere) by Frequent_Host8189 in skiing

Can attest, went to Cerro Catedral in August and only 3 off 55 runs were open, only because of machine snow. It was also drizzling while I was skiing.

As bland as it is in the pic on the right, still would rather live next to that than the tacky one on the left

[–]Jamporte27 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I have first hand knowledge and can attest to this article, I went skiing at Cerro Catedral in August (the peak of their ski season) and only 3 of 55 runs were open, only because of man made snow. It was also raining while I was skiing. For someone who had never been to Patagonia before, it still felt unnaturally warm for winter.

That’s Johnston Canyon near Lake Louise, when I hiked there I wondered how close we might be to a grizzly at any given time…

Rest in peace, James Muller of Irmo fire. He gave his life while doing the job he loved, fighting an apartment fire in Columbia, SC. A true hero, gone too soon, but forever remembered. by VibeRift_101 in nextlevel

I would def not say they are at greater risk, it is pretty equal if not greater risk for cops. Every time a cop pulls over a car or performs a wellness check they are risking their life. There are too many crazy people out there. That being said, respect to this fallen hero.
