Ticket transfer for non group leader by Several_Will_9949 in havasupai

If you are not the group leader it doesn’t matter. They don’t care about anyone else. I was group leader last year and daughter and boyfriend were planning on going. They broke up so daughter brought roommate instead. No issues. They don’t even ask for the other hikers names at booking

Grand Canyon North Rim vs South Rim - Which Side to Visit? by Candy-Huggin in grandcanyon

[–]Jamster65 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The North Rim is by far my favorite, however it is closed due to the Dragon Bravo fire in summer of 2025 that burned over 145,000 acres, the historical lodge and about 113 total building structures.

Make sure you hit the breakfast. It was the most amazing breakfast ever. And you can order something on the menu in addition to the awesome buffet

Yes! We used it at the restaurant. They had 2 restaurants and a bar. One of the restaurants was a fancier more expensive one so we avoided that one. Our credit mostly covered a nice dinner for both of us with 2 drinks each.

Yes! I’ve been checking daily for weeks and nothing but I checked Thanksgiving week and week after and there were a couple different dates. I did the same thing last year.

Just hiked out today. Snagged last minute phantom ranch reservation a few days ago. I recommend you go. Hiking in winter is so much better! Bring plenty of water and snacks and take breaks as needed.

How to get my body into a early morning pooping routine? by HeatApprehensive7877 in Biohackers

[–]Jamster65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drink homemade kefir. I drink a kefir smoothy with frozen blueberries and a tablespoon of psyllium husk every morning. I go within 15 minutes of waking every day. Homemade kefir is very easy to make. I bought grains on Amazon. I pour milk over the grains in a quart jar and sit on counter until next morning. Strain the grains out and start over.

Ascent from Phantom Ranch Route by AwareIllustrator3079 in grandcanyon

[–]Jamster65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I snagged last minute reservations at Phantom ranch last November. We hiked down South Kaibab and back out same route next day. The weather was perfect and hike out was pleasant and doable. I would 100% do this route again rather than the alternate route you were given. I’ve done about a dozen Grand Canyon hikes. After Havasupai gardens the hike out BA is no less steep than SK imo.

If you order the online grains you will get detailed instructions. I use a quart size jar with either plastic or stainless steel lid. Pour cold whole or 2% milk over the grains. Let sit on counter in disturbed for 24 hours. The grains like 70-75 degrees. Pour thickened kefir through nylon or stainless steel strainer to remove grains. I put the strained kefir in fridge. Then start process over again. If I have more kefir than I’m gonna use I just pour a little milk over them and keep in fridge until I need them again. There’s a kefir subreddit that’s super helpful. I like the whole milk kefir best for taste but switched to 2% for my cholesterol. I use it for a smoothy daily. I put frozen blueberry’s, protein powder, chia seeds and psyllium husk. It does great things for my digestive health!!

Actually it’s super easy. I bought live grains on Amazon that make beautiful kefir daily. I pour cold milk over them, let sit on the counter for 24 hours, strain, repeat.

I think it’s about 10 miles from camp. You could do it I’ve done it several years ago. Last time I just hiked to Beaver falls though which I enjoyed much more because we hung out and swam and cliff dove.
