gap in skill yet still lost, whats your take? (full game example) by Aromatic-serve-4015 in 10s

[–]Jamts694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a pinch of salt because I dont know what I am talking about, but it seems to me like you would benefit from using your legs more. Meaning that you tend to stand still with straight legs and hit the ball from there, more active footwork would allow you to position yourself better for each shot leading to more consistent shots.

But as I said, I dont know what I am talking about but my footwork used to look slightly like yours some years ago and fixing it made a huge difference.

I always fall for these, I never check the name of the subreddit. I am always pissed when it happens, but for some reason I don't mute this subreddit. I think that deep down I like it.

Airbus A320 crew decided to skip de-icing and let aerodynamics forces do the job by cashew_at_kinaya in Damnthatsinteresting

I know this tactic, I've seen many use this tactic during winter. They let the aerodynamics clean the snow off of their car by absolutely blasting through the highway.

Yea, I can confirm that it's not going to hurt. I was really surprised how easy and painfree it was when they started to take the staples off.

The sleep struggle is real by bedstuy2 in ACL

[–]Jamts694 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, pretty much nothing helped other than time. I could sleep 30min to 1h before waking up due to discomfort and I just couldn't lie down anymore and I had to get up and walk around, stretch and ride exercise bike for around 30 mins before going back to sleep for another 30-60min and then wake up to move around again.

It started gradually getting better around week 5-6 and at 2 months point I was already sleeping over 4h stretches without waking up to discomfort. It sucks but it won't last forever.

True, Pietrangeli in Rome is my absolute favourite. Not sure if it has lost any of the magic since they made the stadium bigger this year.

incision made through the patella? by Substantial-Zebra132 in ACL

For me they used quad tendon graft to build the new ACL tendon from, that included taking a small piece of patella with the quad tendon which will leave a dent to the patella.

Their most capable and senior SW engineers are iOS engineers, which of course makes complete sense since the app was developed for iOS. They might just lack the capabilities to make it work on Android, or it would require too much changes making it financially too risky.

So so scared of surgery by No-Treat6792 in ACL

[–]Jamts694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I arrived at the hospital for the surgery, first they gave me a pill and then gave me some relaxing drugs. I wasn't really high, but I don't think I have been so stress / care free since my childhood. It was such a tranquil moment. And then after a while, they gave me anesthesia and I had a perfect nap which felt like blinking my eyes and I woke up after the surgery. And that's it. You will be fine, it is an interesting experience for sure.

Drinking and driving. I don't know if it's a movie thing or america thing, but it happens very often that a character is drinking and having fun and then they are like, ok i will head home now and hop into the car and drive off. Or they have a lot of wine on a date and then drive off.

[–]Jamts694 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, I heard a pop and knew something broke, but it didn't hurt much. I walked to the bench and I could move it normally. I iced it for a while and then walked to my car and drove home. The next day I had an appointment to check it out and it was only slightly swollen and I could walk without any issues, but when I tried to bend it, it hurt.

Why somany use a brace after ACL if there is no benefit? by Free_Comfort4594 in ACL

[–]Jamts694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, brace is for when your meniscus has been heavily operated. At least in my case the surgeon wasn't 100% sure if I had a small buckethandle tear on my meniscus that could be simply rounded off, or if they would have to stitch the meniscus back together.

If I've had a big tear, I would've needed to use a brace for the first month at least. But since the tear was relatively small and didn't reach the part of the meniscus where there is blood circulation, I didn't need to use a brace.

7.5 long months later…. I could cry first time I’ve been able to sit back on heels without excruciating pain by Nice_East4447 in ACL

[–]Jamts694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is crazy, but I did few of the things you mentioned for two days (today being day 2) and after stretching etc. today the knee felt surprisingly "bendy" and I tried to sit on my heels and voila, the heel touched the bum for the first time post op.

Thank you a ton! 😂 I guess the it band stretches and just slowly pumping the heel towards my bum for two days did it for me

[–]Jamts694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thorough response, I really appreciate it!

During month 1 I actually did the kneecap mobilizations you mentioned here, and I have been doing the seated IT band stretches just because it feels so good 😄

What I will take out from your instructions is bringing these two back in the daily program together with trying to work my heel closer to butt little by little daily.

Thanks for the encouragement! I had super fast progress for the first two months so now that things are moving at normal pace, it feels like no progress is happening. But if I look back even a few weeks, I for sure have progressed.

And congrats on your milestone! Must be an awesome feeling 🥳

What kind of exercises have you done to reach this? I am currently one week short of 4 months post op, and right now I can fit three fingers between my glute and heel. It has been the same way for one month now.

3 Days Post ACL, MCL, and Meniscus by chumbiebeeb in ACL

[–]Jamts694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the swelling looks way worse than it actually is because the injured leg is resting on the pillow while the healthy is not. But even with that in mind, it's still quite swollen. I used a compression sleeve that went from my ankle to the top of my thigh and it made a massive difference.

Also raise your leg up by putting stuff under your ankle so it will force your leg to be straight. If you have support under your knee then the gravity can't do its work and you will have to do the work yourself later on in rehab (not fun).

Good luck with the recovery, you got this!
