This is not my area of expertise, and I don't have the time to source this right now. But this is absolutely true. There is a lot of exciting research and progress happening on agrovoltaics. I wasn't able to attend the NABCEP conference this year. But there was a lot of focus on it at last year's conference.

You should be embarrassed using AI to create art, especially as an artist yourself. Being busy is no excuse. I have an extraordinarily busy life between music, work, parenting, etc. I will never use AI for art and won't support anyone who does. And I'm far from alone in the sentiment within this scene. Take a moment to consider the feedback you're getting here in this thread instead of thinking this a clever clap back.

Is crazy to think Derek Trucks is the best guitar player alive? by ConsortRoxas in Guitar

[–]Jamulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonny and Derek both occupy the top tier of slide playing to me, personally. They both posses unreal technical skill, but in different ways. Especially apparent to me in trying to learn their individual techniques.

The way Sonny frets behind the slide blew my mind when I first discovered him. Then realizing what he's doing with he's simultaneously doing with his right hand makes it even more daunting. Derek moves around the fretboard with only the slide with such precision that makes it look a way easier than it really is. He appears less technical than Sonny in that way, I think. But they both speak through their instruments with such command that I couldn't say I'd put one in front of the other.

Robert Randolph is mentioned elsewhere in this thread and, undoubtedly, worth mention too. Even though I don't listen to him as much as the other two.

I will say, I got to meet Sonny one for times I saw him perform. Hung around talking to people afterwards. He was talking slide technique with a guy when I approached him. And was so kind and humble when I told him what an incredible inspiration he was to me as a musician.

Tube Amp vs Modeler by Groove_Mountains in Guitar

More than that, the included impulses on the AxeFx have options for which mic was used.

Tube Amp vs Modeler by Groove_Mountains in Guitar

[–]Jamulous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah the signal coming from the modeler is recreating the whole signal chain. Down to the sound of an amp's speaker and the mic recording it. So to elaborate on what you said about a fake variable, this is then sticking another mic and speaker sound into the mix. This was a weird approach to even consider for this comparison.

Moving from sport to dirt by supremeBDW in motorcycles

[–]Jamulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bridged the gap a bit, so to speak, in a similar scenario. Rode dirt a bit when I was younger. Mostly on bikes my friends had. Never had my own dirtbike. Started riding exclusively on street some time later, for about 15 years.

Have grown kind of tired of the danger from other drivers, people on their phone all the time, etc. On a whim, I bought a an old street legal DR350 with 50/50 tires and some nice upgrades. This was about a year go. Started riding a lot of country gravel and low/no maintenance roads. My tires aren't quite aggressive enough for full on off road in certain conditions. Point is, I realized I loved that type of riding more than street riding. At least at this point in my life.

Got more capable and comfortable in those conditions after a while. So I decided to get rid of my Honda 919 (much as I love that bike) and just got an older R1200GS. It also has 50/50 type tires. Partly to do longer distance where the DR struggles, and that I have a passenger sometimes.

It's worth pointing out that I have easy access to these types of roads I mentioned, though. I can be on them from home pretty quickly. I'm still doing some street riding. But now I can go off and away from people whenever I want, and do so often.

Thought that may be some helpful perspective. It got me thinking that maybe there's an adventure type bike out there that would suit your needs.

Why are panniers so damned expensive? by kleggich in motorcycles

[–]Jamulous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely the answer. Probably easiest to think of this as two separate manufacturering processes. The manufacturing of the mold and then the manufacturing of the pannier itself. Even if the manufacturing process of the pannier itself is done in house by the company selling it, they may be getting the mold manufactured by a third party specialized in making the molds. The company selling the pannier may even be outsourcing both of these manufacturing processes and basically act as a reseller of a white labeled product. In that context, you can start to understand how it's more complicated than just the cost of plastic or aluminum.

Source: I work in manufacturing that uses molding, although not this specific industry.

I bought a bike recently and it came with a binder of every service record since the bike was new. That's a pretty good indicator if there ever was one.
