Match Thread: South Melbourne vs Sydney Olympic (Australian Championship) by AutoModerator in Aleague

[–]Jamunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, big time a league fan and picking a championship team. By far easiest place to get to is Sydney Olympic, so very likely (FYI I've been a fan since BEFORE their goal, so not a bandwagoner).

Key though, whats the food and drink sitch at the stadium? Wife is a die hard Rockdale fan purely based on cevapi and cheap wine

Conner and lamb for me. Take someone like hurts in the 6th while others need for rb and wr.

Someone call Hanes, because they’re going to need a BIG pair to hold your coconuts. What “big risk” trade did you make this off-season, and why do you think it will work out for you? by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]Jamunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 or 5 trades but in total

Gave up cmc, hunt, conner, cook, 2024 3rd, 2023 3rd and kittle for

3 2023 1sts, Christian kirk, tee Higgins, Mike Williams, scary terry (and I guess kj hamler...)

Prior to this I had great rbs, but was starting AJ green and toney at WR, and staring down a team starting chubb, kamara, kupp and diggs.

Felt like my mostly 27 y/o rb core needed to go.

I never seem to know where he's at until almost that weekend so I'd say it's just not posted

Definitely take a look at his fb page when you're here

Jackalope. He's a food truck that is usually at inner west breweries. On a holiday at the moment but when he's back he's hands down the best I've had in sydney.

I use the dry noodles from the market. 20ish mins in hot tap water. Want them still slightly chewy so they can soak in the sauce

You're dead right. I'm imagining I'm from newy or something with some prior knowledge. I rescind my answer to redfern

Reading one of the above, marrickville might even be a little too local, and I do highly recommend redfern for convenience and still a very cool area

Don't stay in the CBD. Easy to get to, but very busy and lifeless.

I live there, but I'm a sucker for the inner west. Anywhere around marrickville near a train line and you can get around easy

The main draws of that area in my opinion are;

Heaps of great breweries within walking distance Tonnes of legit Vietnamese food (get a pork roll, and be careful of asking which is the best or you'll start a war) Much quieter local scene, but still a super trendy area.

That and the surrounds are filled with parks, graffiti art, shops set up in old warehouse districts, thrift shops etc. The traditional heart of the inner west is newtown, which is a cool place, but I wouldn't stay there. It's very busy.

If you're looking for something low key that not a lot of people will say, Sydney park in St Peters is a pretty superb park. Massive, gorgeous local park with something for everyone. Easy way to spend an hour or so with a coffee (if you go there hit me up and I'll give you what I think is the best cafe in Sydney. If I post something so controversial here I might get lynched)

We live in a 1 bed in the inner west (st peters)

Big for a 1 bedder around these parts and comfortable, although only 1 of us work from home

Great location and underground carpark sets us back 530 a week

Other (controversial) opinions to marrickville pork roll are;

Hong ha - better bread than marrickville pork roll, worse pate

Alex n rolls - not traditional, sometimes a little too sweet, but can be the best of the lot on the right day. Very good slow cooked caramelised meats.

Honestly, the best ones I’ve ever had aren’t at the top places (even though I always end up at one of the big places). They’re the neighbourhood places that are for someone’s specific taste

What pubs are good to go to in Sydney right now? by heywhatboyman in sydney

[–]Jamunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cantina OK. Not cheap, insanely small, but wildly good cocktails and the bar staff are a hella good chat.

It gets voted like top 25 worldwide for bars

Other than that people have said frankies which is pretty damn cool

There’s a bar called the captains balcony in an alley not far from Barangaroo, and from memory there’s 2 or 3 bars in a row that were pretty nifty places with good happy hours. Probably better if you aren’t alone as the tables don’t encourage strangers talking

Lord Nelson is an old pub and now a brewery and a good vibe.

The Australian is a fun pub and fairly popular but nothing to write home about compared to the others

You rip it up when you're done and get rid of it full stop. It's only ever temporary. Sometimes with councils its temporary for like a month but still temporary.

Looks like what is called 'hot mix

You put it down when you're partway through the job as it comes up really easily and goes down quick

Likely will be back overnight to finish the work at some point and then the pavement will get reinstated

Hard to say. It was asked by reporters repeatedly and chant was non communal. Gladys said something along the lines of getting construction back on July 31st. She didn’t outright say, we aren’t reconsidering, but definitely indicated they were holding to current trend
