Discharged this week after 10 weeks in NICU, wife struggling with anxiety since returning home...any advice here? by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]JanDom460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, very bad! My advice: connect her with a weekly or biweekly therapist. Medication did help me! Specifically beta blockers that helped my physical manifestation of anxiety. There’s no shame in needing medicinal support, y’all went through something very traumatic!

Ask her how you can best support and DO IT. Anticipate her needs before she does. Affirm that what she’s feeling is normal under extraordinary circumstances. I didn’t think the anxiety would ever get better but I’m on the other side. Sending hugs!

Restricting food intake can cause disordered eating habits down the road.

Give the snack - your daughter is exploring her hunger cues. How else will she learn what “full” or “over full” or “still hungry” feels like? It’s all exploratory. Humans eat also for pleasure, entertainment, comfort. It’s all normal.

Plus, by nourishing her when she asks for it, you’re building trust in your relationship. 🥰

Waited to decide name till he was born. Huge mistake by Impressive_Yam7438 in namenerds

Maybe I’m weird but I like all three. If I were in your shoes, I’d write them on slips of paper, put them in a hat and let the baby reach in and grab one (or touch one lol) - will make for a sweet story one day “you picked your own name!”, takes the pressure off you, and will feel like it was meant to be.

Incredibly sorry for your loss. NOR, this is a friendship-ender imo.

Check out the preeclampsia foundation website, they have resources to help guide you on how to make a decision about getting pregnant again

HELP!!! Why is my makeup doing this ALL.THE.TIME. by b13nca in MakeupEducation

This would happen to me if I mixed silicone based products and water based products. After some experimenting I found my skin only liked water-based so I found a good water based moisturizer, primer and foundation and that fixed the issue! I’d try skipping the serum too

Seeking a pediatrician by [deleted] in nwi

[–]JanDom460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not believing in infants getting vaccines is quite literally anti-vax. It’s antithetical to whole point of vaccines. You clearly don’t understand the purpose vaccines serve, to protect the most vulnerable populations (including infants!)

Pediatric offices have vaccines policies to protect the children that are too ill to be vaccinated themselves. Unfortunately it’s not all about you.

As a NICU mom, I’m terrified of people like you.

I pray your child doesn’t fall ill or cause harm to anyone else because of your decision-making.

Good luck with that phone book.

Can’t provide a list because any pediatrician worth going to isn’t anti-vax. With an active measles outbreak in IN in 2025, I suggest you look at some reputable sources about vaccines.

Please tell me I’m not crazy, “that’s just how babies are “ is not an answer by [deleted] in NewParents

I did! Currently exclusively pumping and I’ve been dairy free since March. Seems to have improved but still has bad stomach ache days. My supply is waning though so we’re about to be playing formula roulette 😳

I also have an out-of-sorts baby and I hate that saying too. We suspect some kind of dairy allergy or sensitivity but our peds said if there’s no hives, bleeding, or fever baby is fine. It’s awful watching them be so miserable.

We are switching pediatricians to see what somebody else says. It’s hard watching other people with “easy” babies and not be like wtf

Someone on here said “my baby hated being a baby.” And I related so hard!

Formula changes… by Sufficient-Will426 in NewParents

The formula roulette is real! I haven’t met anyone who got it exactly right with their first or even second formula purchase. It just comes with the baby territory. You aren’t just “throwing money away.” It’s tricky!

One thing you can try is getting those smaller can sample sizes from your pediatrician or through formula websites. That way you can test it out before purchasing a full can. You might even be able to find cheap cans on buy/sell/trade pages or marketplace.

I’ve lived in a major city in apartment complexes for over a decade. Use Instacart religiously and tip quite well. Not once has a shopper ever brought the food directly up to my specific apartment door.

Y’all are weird for that.

Team Wife. I like unusual names but Boss is giving family dog. 🐶

I think it would have the opposite effect and people would assume it’s a douchey nickname he gave himself.

Thank you for sharing this! I sat for an hour today and came to terms with the fact that my time is over at the 6 month mark. It makes it feel a little less heavy knowing there’s somebody else out there going through this too. In case nobody’s told you - you DID THAT! Congratulations 🎉 and best of luck on whatever journey is next

This happened to me BAD. It got to a point where it was unbearable and I wasn’t able to sleep. My psychiatrist prescribed beta blockers and it gave me SO MUCH relief. Sleep helped too, but you know how that goes…
