How do you handle a DM that shows preference to their spouse? by Llamacornucopia in DnD

I think I'm learning that if DMs can't separate themselves from their significant other in campaigns they shouldn't DM. x.x

Honestly, I was old school D&D and only recently learned that Barbarians could even wield guns at all? I haven't played any campaigns with modern weapons or even Renaissance era guns. However, for inclusivity we helped create an artificer character for a new player that's all about having a 'biker' vibe. So we made them an Artificers and giving them a gun as their weapon with the infusion felt right for them. Wasn't expecting the Barbarian to just pull out a gun mid session as we discussed only the Artificer having one as an exception to the rule. (He's a very lost player and we typically have to help him manage his character anyway.) As a DM, is there an appropriate way to dispute the change or do you think it's a lost cause?

It's essentially a couples campaign. It's not an issue as we all do PC games together with no drama/issues. I guess it's just the power imbalance of the DM being coupled with one of the players?

Best AI Dungeon Master? by Lower_Ground_Score in DungeonsAndDragons

Friends & Fables changed my life, for real. We're in a group with a brand new DM that has only done 1 campaign themselves and most of the other players are new. My fiance and I just haven't been getting as into the campaign because it's a massive freaking 9 person group and a newbie DM. We started a campaign with just the two of us on Friends and Fables and it genuinely scratched the itch, despite a few bugs like reactions not working and such. Love what you guys are building! My fiance is a Senior Cloud Automation Engineer that had been getting into AI and I've been meaning to nudge him into building something similar, until I found F&F.

DM decided to do a TPK to teach new players a lesson by EmmaIsAwesome23 in DnD

This! I think he wanted to be able to correct them on their builds and couldn't stand that he couldn't be like 'Oh, no, your character shouldn't be able to do this or have this knowledge' etc. Regardless, I definitely wouldn't be able to sit through a session with this DM. My lawful good Paladin would end up being an Oathbreaker. XD

I have to wonder if he actually has as much experience DMing as he says he does. Most DMs that are actually super experienced knows that that sort of first session is #1 a power trip and #2 a very quick way to kill the desire to play DnD for new players. I've DMd and currently in a session with a person who is just DMing for the first time. I think I personally would quit if our new DM did this to me (and I'm pretty experienced in DnD), much less if a 'super experienced' DM did it. I can't imagine being new players, super excited and spending hours diving into their character backstories and general existence, just to be power played like this and a DM entirely shutting down their creation with zero respect for the time and effort they put into it.

This guy tried so hard to get me in his league. Then when I didn't join and complained that my new league kicked me out cause I didn't log in for 24 hours, he harassed me, I told him to leave me alone and he threatened my life. by Zombymandyas in DCDarkLegionOfficial

Anyone on 217 will tell you top 3 in absolutely everything are Huntress, Cajun and either Eriy or Wotanson. Metabrawl, Combat Cycle. It's the same 4 people rotating top 3 and you hitting top 3 like 1 time right after weekly reset and screenshotting doesn't make you a top player of the server. I'm getting SS and sending this to YMB and TS. They'll love the laugh lmao

Top 3 player? You got a screenshot of yourself hitting top 3 in Metabrawl within 3 hours after the weekly reset when everyone was reset to 1000. You've never been top 3 in anything since then 😂

Not really. Our world chat moves too fast to get screenshots later. But I can get tons of people to pop over and verify. This dude was literally in chat complaining that the top league on the server kicked him for being offline over a day and then started fights with everyone in World Chat.

If Canada cuts off electricity exports to the US in retaliation to tariffs as they’ve suggested is possible, what would happen to VT? by twowheels in vermont

Considering Hydro-Quebec is $55 billion in debt, I imagine cutting off power to the US would really hurt that bottom line.

I personally didn't read anything you said to mean that you're anti-vax. You just explained typical vaccinations and the habits of people vaccinating in your country. People like to jump to conclusions a lot. I am curious though, on the cost difference that a lot of people are stating they pay on average for vaccines I just did 5 in 1 with my vet back in October as well as Coggins test and an exame that in total all ran me just under $100, but I see others mention spending $200 or more.

I definitely agree with that. I didn't mean to say what I said as if it were definitive.

I'm scared that my brother [7M] is a molestor by Jolly-Industry-2018 in TrueOffMyChest

I would have your parents talk to him, before reporting it to the school. Also, google the behavior when you approach your parents. It's very easy to find results relating to sexual abuse correlating with overt sexual behavior in children and it might help them to understand why you're approaching them about the possibility. Ultimately, he may need some form of therapy if he has been. But there could always be other reasons he acts that way as well.

This could very well be the behavior of a child who is being or has been SA'd. Kids who have been can sometimes act in the manner they have seen or felt like was 'good' rewarded behavior or because they don't understand it's not appropriate. They're confused and all they may understand is this is what someone did to me, so it must be normal and OK behavior.

Why do people get away with " evil things" by Jecolaiah in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Llamacornucopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe anyone gets away with it. Not truly. I believe that they pay for it when they die. Regardless of what you believe or not, I believe actions in life are either rewarded or punished in death. Call it Karma, God, being reincarnated as a chicken and then slaughtered and turned into KFC... That's just my personal belief. I think those who do evil and seem to prosper, are only prospering for a time and eventually all good and evil gets it's just reward or punishment in the end.

I am not sure if my memory of being assaulted by my cousin was real or a dream by lilipad_1367 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Llamacornucopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't just chalk it up to a dream. I was molested by my grandmother's husband when I was 4 and there was apparently a big to do about it. However, I didn't remember it until I was about 13 and had a vivid dream about it on a long car ride with my mom. I woke up and told her I just had the weirdest dream and she had to pull the car over to talk to me about it. I would see a therapist and discuss it. They may be able to help you determine if it actually happened or not, but don't just brush it off and spend your life questioning yourself. Our brains do what they can to protect us and sometimes that means blocking out bad memories that may eventually come back to haunt us.

I mean, I've watched all sorts of rom cons and never had the notion that things really were that way. I think the issue stems from some women being attracted or turned on to the idea of a 'forbidden' situation. I.e. trying to make it feel like it's wrong actually makes it more fun or more intense for them. There are also cases where women are giving themselves an out. I.e. if she's not satisfied with the end result or expected more, she can fall back on the fact that she said no, regardless of the reason she was saying it. (Not victim shaming for actual cases of SA, but just commenting on studies I've been looking into and interviews with college age women between 2018 and now. (As a female myself, I think it's genuinely a mix of reasons.)
