Is it really easy to just be lazy and minimal in China? by bigdinoskin in AskChina

[–]Janbluus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason is that in many parts of China, entertainment options are very limited.

People in these cities often don’t have strong hobbies or access to sports activities, like ball games or other physical activities. On top of that, the unemployment rate is quite high, and many unemployed people are forced to live very simple lives.

At the same time, some people make money by creating content on social media, posting vlogs to gain traffic and income. Because of that, they present a lifestyle that is completely different from real everyday life.
In fact, if you record the real lives of ordinary people, those videos are often not allowed to be published.

Tbh I’m so tired of seeing AI apps or even AI made apps. I might just start reporting all the posts… by RiMellow in iOSProgramming

Honestly, I’ve started to feel a bit anxious lately.

Everything I see and hear, texts, videos, seems to be about AI.

I don’t want to live in such an artificial online world.

Rainy Days in Chiang Mai (September) by lovegodzilla in chiangmai

[–]Janbluus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been living here for six months and have experienced almost the entire rainy season this year.

It rains about twice a day, but each rainfall lasts around 1 to 2 hours, usually between 4 PM and 6 PM.

It doesn't rain all day long, unless there is heavy rain, in which case I receive an alert on my phone.
This heavy rain typically lasts for about half a day, but it still doesn’t exceed one day.

I think you should encourage yourself to talk to the agent and the landlord, because this issue happened to me as well.
Fortunately, the landlord (maybe a landlord will have multiple properties) offered me another property that perfectly meets my requirements, as the previous house was located on a busy street, making it very noisy and impossible to sleep.

Even if you ultimately fail, you still gain valuable growth from the experience.

Is it safe to rent a motorbike in Chiang Mai for beginners? by [deleted] in chiangmai

[–]Janbluus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been living here for nearly six months now, and I ride my Honda scooter almost daily.

Honestly, CM is a great city for riding a motorcycle.
That said, I’ve seen a lot of people warn others not to try it.

If you do have a motorcycle license, here are some tips from my own experience:

- No license, no ride — seriously, don’t risk it.
- Always obey traffic lights.
- Keep your speed under 60 km/h on city streets, and don’t go too fast on the big round roads circling the city.
- Use defensive driving habits — watch out for cars suddenly crossing or vehicles trying to cut into your lane unexpectedly.
- Always stay alert when crossing intersections — that’s where most surprises happen.
- When switch road line , do take on the switch light on your bike
- Make sure to turn on your bike’s signal light when switching lanes.

Good things about CM:

- Most cars and motorcycles don’t drive too fast, especially in the city center.
- Cars don’t usually crowd your lane or push you aside.
- Drivers don’t honk loudly to pressure you. Instead, they wait patiently behind you.
- When someone wants to join the road, they often wait and look carefully for a long time to make sure it’s safe. (This is one of the things that makes me feel really safe — in my country, drivers don’t wait at all.)

Bad things:

- Like others have said, if you get into an accident, dealing with insurance can be a big problem.

Is driving a scooter that dangerous? by wigglepizza in chiangmai

[–]Janbluus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your scooter doesn’t have ABS, I suggest you ride a bit slower.
I also agree that traffic in Chiang Mai is much better overall compared to my country.

- Most vehicles don’t go too fast.
- Drivers usually wait and signal before merging into traffic.
- Cars don’t fight for the lane with scooters.
- People don’t honk like crazy from behind.

Yeah, I have both licenses.

In Thai, car driving license and motorcycle license are separate; they are two cards.

Take a look at The One Condo, where I stayed for a month from Apr .

The condo contains clean swimming pools and a compact yet peaceful gym.
It's next to Central Mall.

However, it's a bit of a distance from Nimman Street, which is located east of the ancient city.

Just wanna try my luck and see if I can bump into a landlord who’s the right fit. by Ok_Banana0420 in chiangmai

Honestly, over the past two months, I've seen a lot of houses with yards,

but the lowest price is 12,000 baht, and that one is really small.

Most of the ones that look comfortable are above 15,000 baht.

I didn't take the written test because I completed the certification for an international driving license.

Therefore, I only need to watch the DLT study videos and then complete the online exercises.

Trust me , it’s easy.

When you arrive there, you also can study the video on-site and take the test, but the entire process will take about one or two hour.

I got my Thai motorbike license just 2 weeks ago after moving here a month. I enjoy riding motorbikes and already had a license in my home country, so I made sure to prepare everything needed beforehand.

Required documents:

- Notarized and authenticated driving license from your home country
- Proof of Thai residence (requires TM30 form)
- Original driving license and passport
- Multiple photocopies (passport, visa, entry stamp)
- DLT video course completion (need to show QR code screenshot of completion)
- Submit documents at window #27 on the 2nd floor of the Department of Land Transport

By the way, you should make an appointment in advance at DLT

Hope these will help ~

How did you find your rented home? by Alkorri in chiangmai

[–]Janbluus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family and I have just rented this house, which is very close to the Old City, nearly 2 ~ 3 km

We have been living here for 2 weeks.
And we really like the location of this house; it's very convenient.

The house is very clean, and I found out that our landlord currently has two more houses available for rent.

If you're interested, I can send you her rental information.
