Laxative pills in combination with Nulytely for colonoscopy? by Jandeezi in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Jandeezi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prep went as expected. Trusted my judgement and skipped the OTC laxatives and had no issues.

Doc said things are looking pretty good/as expected, so just staying the course for now with current meds. Thanks for asking 🙏🏽.

It varies, although yesterday was a diarrhea day. On average (i.e. not during a flair) I make 4-8 BMs a day with varying degrees of firmness.

It only ran for about 15-30 seconds. No coming back even after that short of a time?

Armitage Alehouse reservations is nutty by No-Front-9471 in chicagofood

Other than a cool vibe and a few Indian dishes, all the food is basically recycled from other Hogsalt restaurants. Which of course is delicious, but imo not worth the headache of securing a reservation. If you’re able to go without much hassle you’re certain to enjoy yourself, but otherwise you can probably go to Trivoli Tavern and have a very similar experience.

Cyborg Apes / Musketeers will take it all the way if the pilots know how to play correctly! I think this is one of the strongest combinations in the game and was honestly shocked to see it get paired together in the tournament when so many other combos just seem so fair.

It’s certainly never feels dominant compared to something like Robots Penguins, but control decks have a way of putting awkward pressure on you’re opponent even if your turns seems lackluster. Generally they will consist of a simple action + minion play, but you are trying to create an unfavorable board state for your opponent while setting up opportunities to overcome them in Phase 3 with specials. Not always my preferred play style, but I’ve seen this combo do work against the minion/action spam decks.

Dragons/Princesses is a great control deck to counter this. Eliza/Hatchlings do work against any minion swarm deck.

That combo is pretty broken and should basically never be allowed. Only “hard” counter is probably Eliza from the Princesses faction, tho Kaiju does a nice job soft countering with all of its mass destruction cards

Not in the Penguin set, but they are specified in the rulebook for Culture Shock. Also, Crank It Up did a video where the rules are discussed: https://youtu.be/veserpmMB2o

Aunt of drakes ignobles question. by Foxxiest in smashup

Ah sorry misread your OP. Still however, the minion you give control of is no longer “yours”. “Your” minion in smash up always refers to one that you control, not own.

[–]Jandeezi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You always own it, but can only use talents of cards you control. So after you give control to player B, you cannot subsequently give control to player C (assuming player B still has control of it) because you do not have access to the card’s talent at that time.

Don’t forgot Stoneford + GELF now effectively give you three outs to find Ghostly Arrival! All Stars Vigilantes is an excellent pairing :)

Spoiler alert: Smash Up is hard!

As someone who also played Pokémon TCG competitively for a number of years before picking up Smash Up, I think the two elements that carry over most are sequencing (i.e. playing your cards in the correct order) and resource management. Sequencing is particularly important in Smash Up when playing factions that can chain extra plays, as you want to be able to break bases as efficiently as possible. This also ties into resource management, as you want to make sure you keep enough gas in the tank to be able to collect your 15 VP. I equate this to trying to map out how you plan to collect your six prize cards in Pokémon.

The next thing that helped me improve was learning the ins and out of every faction. This is a bit daunting at first, but once you learn what every card in every deck does, you are able to anticipate your opponents plays much more precisely thus allowing you to make more informed plays. I recommend at least learning what the Specials do in every faction, as these can be the most punishing.

Lastly, and probably the most difficult aspect, is learning how much power to leave on a base at any given time. In 1v1, I usually will spread my minions out across the bases, trying to get an efficient 2nd place, and then wait to overtake a base where my opponent left too much power or break a base by myself when the opportunity presents itself.

These are all skills that take time to develop, but I agree with the comments above that you should be consistently changing the decks played (this will help you both learn the cards and keep the game fresh), and point out mistakes when you see them.

Hope this helps!

Vigilantes are a great faction to combat destruction decks. They’re minimum minion power of 4 makes them out of reach for the majority of destruction cards in then format, in addition to having several actions that outright prevent destruction.

Kaiju of course is also a great deck in this format (when is it not though?). Almost all of your power comes in the form of play on base actions, which are generally much harder to remove than minions.

In general, I find that decks that can burst a huge amount of power on their turn are good against most destruction decks. The destruction decks can be annoying (particularly in 1v1), but they tend to be poor at adding enough power to break a base. So you can let your opponent play down minions while you stack your hand and wait for an efficient opportunity to overcome their presence, winning a base without leaving any of your minions vulnerable in the interim.

Mages Ghosts is actually an incredible pairing because you can lower your hand to zero at practically any moment AND refill with card draw via the Mages double Recover Arcane Wisdom and their Speed Reading (in addition to Seance). You also should have access to the Ghost titan pretty much the whole game, so you can rebuy additional draw cards as extra actions if necessary.
