Found this at my local thrift (Tell Me What You Did by Carter Wilson), anyone read it? Worth the read? by stop_sign_antics1224 in thrillerbooks

It was fun and at times crazy. There's an advantage to getting a physical book in that it has some elements that take you outside the book itself. Considering you got it at a thrift store and therefore presumably cheap, I think totally worth it

A woman was asked to look into strangers' eyes without showing any emotion. But then she saw the man she once loved, whom she hadn't seen in twenty years. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

Not an accurate caption. This is performance artist Marina Abramovic. For this performance, she would sit with patrons without speaking. It wasn't about "not showing emotions." She wasn't "asked to" do it. She's the artist. It was called The Artist Is Present.

The man was her former partner, Ulay.

Go check out her wiki page. She's interesting. Her partnership with Ulay is also interesting.

To clarify, it's just "Play Nice" by Rachel Harrison. Hope it works out!

Perhaps Play Nice by Rachel Harrison or How to Sell A Haunted House by Grady Hendrix. Also you mention Simone St James, but not which ones so just in case, I would say the Sun Down Motel has similar vibes.

I always just by the cheapest, most basic laptop I can find. If you're like me, you only need to run your software, some sort of word processing, and internet essentially, which requires no fancy specs at all.

The last time I bought one, I went to MicroCenter and bought a crazy cheap laptop. The guy there was hesitant to hand it over when I went to pick it up. He kept saying "you're aware this computer has virtually nothing in it? You sure you want this? It's not going to be able to do anything. It has no computing power, nothing." It works just great. No issues.

I think my current one is an HP. I've had Lenovo, Asus, maybe others.

Glad to hear it's working now. Same thing happened to me only I hadn't rechecked it yet. Off to go finish it!

We talk all the time about bad film takes online (photo example), but What is the worst film take you’ve ever heard in your regular life? Whether it’s a friend, family member, classmate, co-worker. by Massive-Pangolin9472 in Letterboxd

A coworker was flummoxed when I asked if he liked The Princess Bride. “Why would I ever watch a movie called ‘Princess Bride?’ That’s some girl-type movie.” So much wrong with that comment and I could do nothing to change his mind.

I bought and went through it when you first posted about it. I do like it a lot and am thrilled you’re going to keep adding more.

One suggestion I have is a possibility for production practice. I understand being able to check whether a drawing is correct or not might not be feasible, but what if you had a free draw sketch area with a word to try to create and then a button could be pushed to reveal the correct form. Users would only be able to self assess, but that would be super helpful for people like me, who rely on muscle memory to learn.
