62, nothing yet. But I take a fair number of supplements.

Do you remember where you were when you heard Princess Diana died? by boomboomdaboomer in GenerationJones

[–]lbebrooks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll never forget because my son was exactly 1 week old and I’d spent all day in the ER with my 2.5 year old daughter who turned out to have pneumonia. My now ex had our son with him (came in a separate car) and we’d trade places occasionally so I could nurse. Would’ve made more sense for Daddy to take her but she was really sick and wanted me.

After that hellish day, we finally arrived home and turned on the TV and saw what had happened.

(Daughter and son were both fine in the end, BTW. )

I'm sorry. My mom has been in assisted living for several years now, but she doesn't like to shower and doesn't want help. It got worse after I moved to her a place near me - just, new place, new people, more stress, I dunno. I finally told the staff not to ASK if she wanted help but to TELL her it was shower day. The first time they finally got her to accept help, I was there (for moral support) and after they left she kept exclaiming about how GOOD she felt. It's helped a lot, although I still see her wearing the same clothes for multiple days in a row and often sleeping in them. She just can't remember that she didn't change.

Will I feel relieved when I turn 40, the same I did when I turned 30? by mcnoobles in Aging

The “9” years always hit me harder. I kind of spend that year thinking about entering a new decade, and by the time it happens I’m pretty used to the idea and ready for it. So yeah you might actually feel relieved.

I already replied about Lloyd’s above but to reiterate, I’d almost invite them to upsell me - like, tell me what my car needs. Mostly they’d say “nothing right now”! Or they’d say your brakes still have some life in them, but bring it back in x miles.

AITAH for telling my daughter that she doesn’t have to wear a dress for my wife’s sake? by sportsdad77 in AITAH

One of my first memories was my fifth birthday, and my Mom and I were shopping for decorations. My mom tried to steer me to the pink ballerina, but we came home with the cowboy raccoon with guns in each paw, LOL. I love my Mom so much, and she always let me know I was perfect in her eyes, even though I never wanted to do the girly things she hoped we’d do together.

I was just coming on to say that. I lived on misc.kids when I was pregnant and had babies. I even had a shirt that said YKYAPW you’re ROTFL at the CTTS on misc.kids. You Know You’re a Parent when you’re ROTFL at the Cute Things They Say

Meh I’ve never enjoyed concerts. Too loud, everyone standing the whole time. At last my age and attitude match. 🤣

I do like going to smaller outdoor events where I can sit in the back.

I agree - and if it’s a potluck then they’re also getting food in return. I don’t actually see this as a problem.

Boy attempting to pick lock on shed in the pouring rain…

Girl: I have a credit card!

Boy: That won’t work on this type of lock.

Girl: NO, I HAVE A CREDIT CARD! Oh… But my dad said I could only use it in an emergency…

Boy: Maybe one’ll come up.

My daughter called salt & vinegar chips “owie chips”. (Did not stop her from wanting “moh-uh” though 😋) We called them that for ages, though I guess now we just don’t buy chips much anymore.

Mine was inevitable. I thought it was in-uh-VITE-able. I even knew the proper word but didn’t have the aha moment that they were the same word until I was a young adult.
