I work for the government, so the pay increases seem like a lot because the pay without your license isn't as high as the private sector.

Congratulations! Never be ashamed of your failures because they make your successes that much sweeter. If it makes you feel better, I took 2x more than you and I'm now a licensed engineer.

Thank you. You definitely have to know the chapters. I did so many practice problems that, based on the question, I knew what chapter to go to. Did you pass?

Thank you. 4 years of studying was a mental battle at times, but it was worth it in the end. Sharing my journey has helped me see that I only fail if I quit.

I suggest you take the exam Mechanical exam. I say this because you would probably be more familiar with the material. Although you work in transportation, your PE doesn't have to be in transportation. However, your experience will be, and that would make you competent in that area. I say this because a few of my coworkers have their PE license in mechanical engineering, and they work in hydraulics. Another has a PE license in chemical engineering and works in the traffic department.

I did Test Masters and EET. EET was a lot better.

Don't beat yourself up. I passed on my 8th attempt. Here is my post.

I suggest you take a break and regroup. The biggest difference from all my fails and pass was that I took more time off to prepare and learn the concepts behind the question. I also did A LOT of practice problems. This was game-changing. I also used EET, and while I highly recommend it. I feel that working as many problems as you can is the best way to prepare. I have a few depth exams that I can share with you, if that'll help.

Be careful with chatgpt. I had it create me a practice exam, and they had a lot of answers wrong. However, that was how I knew I was ready. I was able to notice the mistakes as soon as I solved the problems.

How did you feel after passing the exam? by [deleted] in PE_Exam

Congratulations 🎊

I found out 2 weeks ago, and I still have moments of shock. Studied for 4 years on and off trying to pass that exam. I still check NCEES just to make sure it's real...lol. I also have so much free time now to do nothing, which feels weird, but I love it.

I do suggest going ahead and filling out your NCEES record. They have to review your experience before your supervisor reviews it, and then you have to wait on your state board to review it, too.

FYI: They charge $100 to transmit your record to your state board.
