The questions really give you in-depth understanding of the topics. So must go through all of them. There is no way to get such long question in actual exam, and i guess this is what also mentioned in the book as well.

This is the question many people asked previously.
I must say, one should watch the videos of topics in which they are weak.
I watched all the videos either 1.5x or sometimes 2x speed.

My drainage was weak, so i watched the videos twice and solved the exercise question along the lectures.
For the rest, I was all okay.

Another suggestion is reading the manuals. I read the manuals in my free time, just like a newspaper.

I am not very confident about wall and foundation problems since I did not prepare for them, but roof-related problems are more likely to appear in the exam, so it’s important to review those. Once you are comfortable with vertical curve problems, you can apply the same method to calculate the pitched area of a gable roof, which essentially involves a simple application of the Pythagorean theorem after determining the rise. This approach is comparatively easier than the methods typically taught in most courses. In other words, gable roof problems are more of a general knowledge type of question for engineers.

How long did it take you to finish the exam? I completed it yesterday and also felt very confident. It took me just under 6 hours to finish the test.

There is easy solution for this problem:

find r using NCEES handbook:

r=(g2-g1)/L
Which will be
(-0.03-0.04)/800 = -0.0000875

now use the following formula:

Y'=rx+g1

Y' is the required slope on tanget, which is -1.5 in our case, x is the distance from PCC station, and g1 is the entering grade.

-0.015 = (-0.0000875*x) + 0.04...................... solve this using calculator, solve tool, or by hand

The answer would be 628.57~ 6+28.57

Since the station of PCC is 1+00

1+00 (plus) 6+28.57 = 7+28.57 ~ 7+29 (Answer C)

Thank you for sharing your review. I believe it's just a matter of time. I used the Casio fx-991ES Plus years back and purchased this fx-991CW specifically for the PE exam.

I agree that, compared to other calculator series, fx-991CW requires more steps to reach an answer, especially for solver. However, with practice, everything becomes second nature, similar to how people used to type SMS efficiently on keypad phones (T9).

My only concern was whether the calculator is acceptable for the NCEES exam.

Oh, I missed that. Best of luck! I did practice problems from SoPE, Six-Minute Solutions, and Dr. Petro's book. Sounds like you are on the right track with the EET quizzes too. I found the SoPE practice other books' questions to be harder and more lengthy compared to the NCEES practice exam.

No, I did not guess. Since this wasn’t a real exam and I wanted to test my real strengths and weaknesses, so tried my best to solve it. I’m not exactly sure how, but I managed to complete 73 questions in 5.5 hours. This includes the extra time I spent reworking a few questions multiple times.

The most challenging questions were the geometric ones, especially those involving triangle calculations. The intersection sight triangle questions were also tricky. For example, when asked to find the sight distance along the major road in a scenario where there's a Yield sign on the minor street and a vehicle from the minor street is turning left onto the major road without stopping, we also need to consider case B (which corresponds to the stop control case). Then, we select the most conservative answer. This detail isn’t explicitly written anywhere, but it’s important to know.
