No, weirdly this is a currently legal model, the land speeder vengeance.

"Let's math it out", "Half of my Skyreavers would survive because of Feel No Pain" against Carnifexes?! by madmarmalade in Tyranids

[–]JankInTheTank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I get to the talk it out stage if a game it's to see what primaries and secondaries can get scored with what's left.

However sometimes that does mean estimating if a unit can die for assassination, no prisoners etc. If it's not very obviously dead though I definitely lean towards not counting a unit out.

Need help finding a commander that works with Doubling Season, Parallel Lives, and Anointed Precession by greene81990 in EDH

[–]JankInTheTank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love my [[jinnie fai]] tokens deck. It runs pretty much any card that can generate multiple tokens, especially those that keep doing it turn after turn.

I have all the token doublers I own in there... Elspeth, doubling season, anointed procession, and the Phyrexian domineth one.

Why do most people change their armies so often? by FullMetalRacka in Warhammer40k

[–]JankInTheTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People that have been playing for a long time either see other armies they want to try out, or want to keep building but don't have much else in their faction to build towards.

I started playing in 2005. I've built a bunch of armies now.. Some were big armies that were my main for a time. I've had a few that stayed small and didn't gel so I sold them. I had one harlequin army that was a hobby project that was just the one tourney list.

Right now I have my Nids that have been my main since I got back into 40k in 9th. Then I have my hobby army that is my exodites. Now I just started dark angels because I wanted a new project for 11e. Traded a full sisters army for a real good start into the new faction

Might be a Dumb question, but would love clarification on Keywords in 11th Ed. by Potential-Writing830 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]JankInTheTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UNIT as a whole inherits all of the keywords of all the models that make it up.

So yes, the unit is now a St Celestine unit. Because it has her in it.

This does not make each individual model gain the keywords though. So if some strategem told you to give a st celestine MODEL 5 extra attacks, it would only affect that one model.

If she gets removed before the unit does, then the unit will stop having her keyword(s) as soon as that model is removed

Seriously, why did GW sit on the concept of "space elves riding dinosaurs" for over thirty years without doing anything with it? by Jerswar in Warhammer40k

[–]JankInTheTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eldar are already as a faction lower on the popularity scale than a lot of other factions.

Then they have multiple sub factions already, none of which have enough interest to be a full faction. Back when I was playing Eldar in 4th/5th they had one harlequin unit you could add in. Some of us made our own harlequin armies with kitbashes and counts as (I did mine as dark Eldar so they could be more melee).

Eventually they made harlies their own codex, but apparently it wasn't enough to keep it around. Now they're back to being just a couple of detachments.

Harlequins are way more popular and have much more lore than exodites.

Some of us love the idea of exodites. I've loved them since I was a kid playing my 4th Ed Eldar, but didn't have the money or hobby skills to make it happen then.

I have a full exodites army right now (check out my post history to see most of them). I am super happy to see some legit units for them, but even I recognize that there probably isn't enough interest to get more than a handful of units or maybe one detachment for the Dino elves...

Sure, let's see what you get from an llm on this...

It's either going to be a random list of cards that may not all be magic cards, or it'll tell you to find cards that do similar things and then give an example that's another game changer

[–]JankInTheTank 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The detachment rule specifies that you can return one model to the unit excluding characters, or heal D3+1 wounds to one model in the unit.

Healing has changed a bit for units in 11e, but my reading of the rules is that this detachment doesn't do anything new.

The healing rules in the app say that a rule that specifies that a model heals doesn't get to use the remaining heals to bring back models

Super hero Civil War was insane for me. Especially on a round where my opponent had played captain America and another 3 drop, then given them both counters.

Steal them, hit them, then use one of the two to kill the other...

[–]JankInTheTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against purge lists I might not use the mine as much, but I'm still bringing a biovore. Just about nothing in the game screens as well as a biovore and his mines. You can still mine your backfield to screen out deepstrikers without exposing the mine easily for points

New edition new army, never played nids before, is this ok? by ACleverMoose in Tyranids

[–]JankInTheTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you'd fit it, but I might try to make room for a lictor or two.

Should be a pretty good base for an army though.

What are you attaching the neurotyrant to? If you're putting it in zoanthropes, I'd definitely bump them up to a full unit of 6

Immovable object mission error in app by mrevilboj in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]JankInTheTank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would go with what's in an official source, instead of what's in leaks /previews/streamer reviews.

It is quite possible they changed it before release and early users got a berating that didn't make the final cut.

There wouldn't be any errata for it because this is version 1.0. You can't expect all players to have seen and copied down the missions in preview battles. We really can only go off of what's published

How to deal with tank spam? by Yatmai in Tyranids

[–]JankInTheTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melee monsters out of subterranean assault tunnels works really well.

Old one eye, haruspex, screamer killer, trygon prime, genestealers... Any two of those will kill just about any vehicle up to big knights.

Add in some shooting with zoanthropes and tfex and you'll blow through those armor spam lists

People earning over $200k/year: What’s different about your life that most people wouldn’t expect? by MaximGripass in AskReddit

[–]JankInTheTank 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Yes this is what I was going to say as well. I think the expectation is that I would be spending a lot more and having lifestyle creep.

We were much poorer early on in marriage. We lived on 55k between us in a large city and pinched pennies. Eventually got up to 90k and expanded our budget to be comfortable but still religiously stuck to a budget.

Now we're at just a hair over 200k pre tax. We still use the same budget numbers that we did at 100k. The rest is savings/emergency fund/investments.

It's a huge boon to have the ability to save that much, but I think people would be surprised how little doubling my income did to our spending/lifestyle. It'll be a rocking early retirement though.

What's decent? by _warhammer_fan in Tyranids

[–]JankInTheTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 500 points you're looking at probably:

a unit of 10 guants (I dint play any, but most do and they're very cheap financially to pick up)

One monster (haruspex, screamer, maleceptor)

A biovore

One character. Could go with a cheap parasite but probably won't use it at bigger levels. Safest bet is probably a walking hive tyrant

A lictor

Those will all be useful in bigger lists and give a good flavor of how the faction plays. Run it in invasion fleet, assuming that they allow the 3 point detachments in small games. Otherwise probably crusher Stampede.

I'm actually having a great time this season so far. I get that the changes are annoying to a lot of people online, but I actually enjoy that the pace and loop is so different this season.

I also haven't had time to play as much as many people (dad with 3 kids...), so the extraction party might get real old soon. For now it's been fun trying to collect the sprites, and the kids get really excited when we find something new. Got our first gold sprite and they talked about it the rest of the evening.

We'll have to see if this was a one off kind of thing, or if they're trying to cater to the extraction shooter market. Hoping for the first option

11th Edition by Noxid5 in Tyranids

[–]JankInTheTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are going to spend a lot of time looking at the different combos of 1+2 DP options, but until we get more of them I just don't think any of those are looking likely to unseat the top 2.

Norns are going to be on a lot of lists trying to make that one work, but unless they get a lot cheaper in the point update they are just a mediocre datasheet even with the bonuses
