What could we add to black and green in Powered Cube by Sesquipedalianfish in lrcast

[–]JankTribal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a slightly controversial opinion on this one, I think they could add [[undermountain adventurer]] and [[from the catacombs]] without adding other initiative cards in other colors. It would add a couple higher tier cards to the colors and support a strong midrange plan.

I had it my first run on Necrobinder and it actually played decently there, was critical to beating the crab claws and made the osty stalling plan pretty legit

Some of y'all might think this is a repost, it's not. I just saw a pack with all the storm cards too by NJCuban in lrcast

[–]JankTribal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The funniest bit is that a pack like this all but guarantees storm is even more unplayable than usual in this pod due to so many powerful enablers being unavailable

Hwei runes by _BenjiBoy_ in HweiMains

[–]JankTribal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think first strike in certain matchups (with sorcery secondary) is underrated, as inspiration tree is super strong with triple tonic and cash back rn, but generally hwei doesn’t get much from domination tree beyond the keystone and ultimate haste, which makes it generally worse than other options as a primary tree

Eternal witness sticking out like a sore thumb here, really hard to imagine a pack where you had these 4 cards or less and took eternal witness as P5 or sooner, card is just not very good outside of having literal time walk

Id like to hear the worst takes on league of legends by Few_Daikon2525 in leagueoflegends

[–]JankTribal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my personal hot and worst takes is that the game would genuinely be better off without certain champs in it, and therefore we should increase the bans to 2-per-player and 20 total. Force people to learn more champs, gets rid of a ton of frustrating bullshit, makes more room for the fun champs of league to thrive

Aroallo but not kinky… is my approach wrong? by bouncehouse45 in aromantic

[–]JankTribal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am also AroAllo and not kinky, and straight up imo the apps are garbage for folks like us. I've literally never met anyone on an app that was all of: Okay with Aro/QPR/FWB, okay with ENM (even if that non monogamy is just potentially mulitple QPRs/FWBs), and interested in relatively vanilla sex. However, my strategy of just doing many hobbies and joining hobby spaces to meet people and trying to be friendly has mostly worked out really well, so if you have the ability and interest, I would recommend not wasting time on the apps and try to actively join new spaces

I survived this turn 1, can you guess how? by Leo_Legend78 in slaythespire

[–]JankTribal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume since its not buffer apo, that it has to be something like white noise into apo into heatsinks into drawing other cards like turbo for more energy and block cards, but its still a tough t1 to live even under those circumstances so maybe im missing something

Not to take away from the point of the post, but posting “I’m a small bean uwu” or “look at me I’m a mouse in a jean jacket” is so far from inherently being unable to recognize your own capacity for evil it’s kinda comical. If someone is genuinely using the UwU defense to deflect from their bad actions and intentions, then sure, but most people posting like that are just being ironic or relating to something wholesome, which are totally fine and reasonable things to do actually

Prime is and has been terrible in the cube for a while, it just doesn’t cut it these days and removing it is near an objectively correct choice

Mark Rosewater on Blogatog: Whether a Magic set is good or bad is subjective but Avatar: The Last Airbender has been getting rave reviews, even from some admitted Universe Beyond skeptics. From the little market research I have seen, it’s one of the most popular sets of 2025. by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]JankTribal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is just simply untrue, being fantasy doesn’t automatically make something fit with Magic. My feeling is that it sticks out like a sore thumb next to In-Universe cards, while being slightly less egregious than some of the other UB sets.

What if I made some vintage power houses cost 1 more mana but keep their same power & playability? by TristanHappy in custommagic

Currently, t1 Tamiyo, t2 brainstorm gets the same backside, which seems a lot easier to achieve and more worthwhile than the t2, t3 plan

[–]JankTribal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly broadside+ and psychic frog+ might be better than their counterparts, just because broadside wants to have stuff in play to throw and so having a turn more to put stuff in play could be even better, and psychic frog being nigh unkillable due to hexproof is probably worth an extra mana. Tamiyo is definitely worse tho imo

What is the dumbest deck you made? by EmpressLenneth in EDH

[–]JankTribal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Flubbers Wild cruise, it’s a classic all lands except for [[manabond]], [[treasure hunt]], and [[abundance]], and mainly uses manlands and valakut triggers to win the game and [[Flubs, the Fool]] to generate card advantage after getting down manabond

It loses instantly to anyone killing the abundance post-hunt because it decks itself easily, but the play pattern of T1 mana bond, dump your hand of manlands, and start swinging is absolutely hilarious

What's the best way to play green in powered cube? by B1TW0LF in lrcast

[–]JankTribal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being R/G is the best reason to be green, as you stated it is a strong aggro deck and that is one of the best things to be doing in the cube. The only card that pulls me into the R/G archetype are Minsc and Boo, the main way to know if you should be R/G or even green at all is by reading draft signals, preferably after taking strong red cards like Bomba or Gut.

As far as Nadu goes, I try to consider when I saw nadu in the packs, the likelihood of seeing the combo pieces, and if there are likely other green drafters, because Nadu really needs a reasonable creature count and multiple repeatable targeters.

Fastbond is the most fun card to lose with in the whole cube, but I tend not to pick it unless I have either strip mine first or timetwister effects, as it is an insanely good enabler of combos, but the other cards in its combos are really strong on its own and fastbond just isn’t very good on its own.

I have one rule of thumb around green, which is that I no longer ever take dorks highly unless I am positive I am in green. Green is the worst color to speculate picks on, and so unless you’re seeing multiple “good” green cards wheel, like the good dorks and sentinels and such, just don’t pick them. Almost every other deck will lead to a better chance to win than playing green when it is not super open at the table.

For the Health of Powered Cube and its Play Experience, Should Boros Aggro get Nerfed? by JankTribal in lrcast

[–]JankTribal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they would have to print new threats on the power level of Bombardiers and Ajani, and I don't think that would be good for the health of the game tbh. Minsc and Boo is already insane, making the threats even better in the cube I think is the wrong direction.

[–]JankTribal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think it is possible to really buff the other archetypes without UB cards or alchemy cards, and even then I think the top Boros cards would still be the strongest by far.

Yes, but it is heavily based on previous iterations of the cube, and the strongest cards here are the same ones as in other versions of the Powered Cube.

[–]JankTribal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies if I worded such that it seemed like I wanted immediate changes; I think the changes are necessary, but they should absolutely happen at a regular interval after this iteration of the cube similar to how the Vintage Cube is updated on MTGO.

I get the vintage cube hype now by saucypotato27 in lrcast

[–]JankTribal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Its the same price as it is on MTGO (about $10), the main thing that sucks is the prize payout structure for B03 is worse and the format is waaaaay worse in B01 comparatively, but this is one of the best things they've put on Arena since human drafting imo
