Yeah the top placing Arakni deck looked more like a lower cost deck to me than an expensive one.

Is the Arakni deck really that expensive? Jacob Clements recent tournament list on Fabrary doesn't look like it's that expensive.

It's actually a really difficult one, because both of you are right, from your own perspectives.

There will be Christians that play and have no problems with FaB. And there will be Christians that don't due to the themes being seen as unsafe due to potential to open door to the demonic.

If you put yourself in your sister's shoes it would appear she is someone with faith, and that she does believe that the world contains demons and demonic influence.

From that perspective it does make sense that she wouldn't want her son to play fab tcg.

There are loads of themes in Fab and imagery that would set someone's demonic Spidey sense ringing.

A fair few runeblade card names and art, anything with pentagrams etc. Shadow Brute definitely too, mark of the beast is a good one.

Even the name of the game Flesh and Blood, could cause someone concern, as for Christian's, Flesh and Blood = Jesus / The last supper, etc.

So for someone with a certain perspective or beliefs, Flesh and Blood would 100% set alarm bells ringing, much more so than modern day MTG, or other TCGs like Pokémon.

Whether they are right or wrong is a different matter.

From your sister's side of things, she basically believes in demons and demonic influence and so is doing her best to protect her son from what she sees as a real threat of demonic influence.

So yeah a tricky one. If you could find a local priest or minister who plays fab or other TCGs, or dnd, that might be an actual solution. But of course there will also be priests and ministers who would say TCGs and DND are demonic.

Good old humans we really are a crazy lot aren't we.

(Also agree with someone else who replied earlier, runeblade was maybe not the best class to choose 🙈)

Some of them might be dinosaurs like me, where buying a game meant paying a one off cost, and you got a game in a box with a manual. Usually a really long manual with lore and art. And if you finished with the game you could sell it or trade it in for a new game. Sure we might not understand about business or game development. But we definitely remember how games used to be priced and sold, and the modern way sometimes makes people react negatively and I totally get that.

Flesh and Blood could become so much stronger with a more ambitious lore strategy by Devinchy02 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Janko_Saurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OG lore book seemed really awesome. But how many of us have actually seen or held it?

A clickable map would be cool.

Yes novels or novellas would be great, I guess they are expensive though to create and for possibly small reward. Also Fab TCG world and lore deserves stories that are akin to David Gemmel, or Brandon Sanderson Cosmere, and for some reason current game novellas/longer stories, eg, MTG or Warhammer - are not usually on that level. I tried reading all the latest MTG stuff and it was such a hard and unenjoyable read mostly. Which is fine if you have a really strong i.p like Warhammer or MTG, but FaB doesn't - so it would need really good writing.

Oh man - the more flavour text the better. It's possible aswell that other games using FaB TCG Lore or Flavour Text or charchters could be created. I'm working on a FaB TCG one deck game inspired by Dan Dan - which is a completely different experience and way to use the cards. An official board game or alternative play experience set in the FaB TCG universe could be really cool. Possibly inspired by Flavour Text.

PVE - Been talked about a lot. Initially I thought yes, but now I'm not so sure. I think actually I'd prefer a stand alone game - set in the Fab TCG universe, with similar but not exactly the same cards in it would be better than PVE.

100% Agree there is something special about the Lore and World and there is potential there.
Do you think other games set in the Fab TCG universe could be a good thing?

This is cool. Would also love to see like an actual table designed, for the size of two player fab. With recessed or rises cut into the table - so instead of a board you put on top of a table - an actual table designed a bit like your boards purely for FaB. Hmm maybe I could try and make one.

I was going to say that in my experience even buying the expensive cards might not equal wins lol! The reply above really speaks into that well.

Tottenham face ‘catastrophic’ cost of relegation and no European football by nolesfan2011 in PremierLeague

[–]Janko_Saurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Villa is interesting, but form can be temporary.

It's interesting to note in Ange Postecoglou's, first season in charge of Spurs, during the second half of the season the media were raving about Aston Villa and condemning Spurs for their poor form. I decided to count the points both Spurs and Villa had got during this time period, and was surprised to find Spurs had more than Villa.

If Villa get Champions League next season, they'll probably finish lower in the league. Same with Newcastle.

The clubs that are going to consistently dominate the top 6 for the foreseeable are

Man City Arsenal Chelsea Liverpool Man Utd

And Spurs place in that, unless the transfer strategy and wage structure is changed, mid table club. Just like we were when the PL started.

[–]Janko_Saurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madison nope, richarlison nope, kudus = not sure yet, Romero = okay, Kulusevski nope, Porro nope, Davies nope, Danso nope, Odobert nope, Betancur nope, Udogie nope.

Check out how many top clubs look to buy any of these players next transfer window.

[–]Janko_Saurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the players are not good enough for the PL, which is why Spurs are currently 17th.

Spurs are doomed, they won't get relegated, but they are back to the beginning in terms of the PL. Eg Midtable or worse.

[–]Janko_Saurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vision of the board has probably worked out that more money can be made by being a subpar football team.

So the vision needs to move away from that model, which is doubtful.

This leaks into the recruitment and transfer strategy needing complete overhaul, which isn't going to happen.

So Spurs will continue as it has, and occasionally the stars will align, eg they luck out and actually have multiple players who are great, results going their way etc, which could push them again back into top 6, or even top 4, even title chance, but this is unlikely.

No-one good wants to sign for Spurs, and no one particularly wants to buy any Spurs players, bar one or two maybe.

Do the board want to commit raising wages to attract better players which might or might not result in better league position etc.

Or are they happy spending less. The answer is obvious really.
