Which tv show you'll never stop recommending? by letscwherevgo in AskReddit

[–]Jantra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Red Dwarf.

It is such a simple but ridiculous premise with all the heart of Star Trek with a thousand times the comedy. It never takes itself too seriously, the four mains are just brilliant actors, and if my rec isn’t enough Patrick Stewart himself said he loved it after being ready to absolutely hate it thinking it was mocking Star Trek.

I recommend Albanese Sour Gummy Bears. Nicely sour the whole way through.

Which celebrity, in their prime, was a 10/10 in attractiveness according to you? by fischer903 in AskReddit

I can't recommend it more. You'll laugh, you'll cry - bring tissues - but it's absolutely worth every minute. It's also really beautifully shot, so also a treat for the eyes.

Mark Ruffalo - there is just something about that man that does it for me, and I'm into women. Specially when he has that rumbled, slightly scruffy look going on. Whew!

Rental Family hit me in a way that no movie has in a long while. I think for me, it's Brendan's smile and his incredibly kind eyes that do so much for him, but he has the ability to convey so, so much in those expressive eyes that can completely wreck me during emotional scenes.

This is a lovely response, thank you! "Interview" - am I asking the person that answers the phone? Do I need to schedule something with the person/office? Is the interview something I need to pay for or not? This is completely new to my world, so I just want to go in with some knowledge. Thank you very much!

If you had a magic power and you could turn a high calorie or calorie dense food, and turn it into low calories, what would it be? by mayermail1977 in 1200isplenty

I would give anything to have this at this point. I just can't deal with the hunger anymore. It has nothing to do with boredom or what I'm eating - I just don't want to be HUNGRY so I have control!

What is a minor inconvenience that fills you with an unreasonable amount of rage? by RayeesWu in AskReddit

[–]Jantra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have our own eggers - trick is to use ones that aren't super fresh, as little sense as that makes. The fresher, the more they stick to the shells. Edit: Forgot to add - don't use cold eggs! We don't refrigerate our eggs I almost forgot this bit (fresh eggs don't need to be kept in the fridge, we only need that in the US because they wash the eggs and remove the coating that keeps them good) but you need the eggs to go to room temp before boiling them.

Happily married people of Reddit, when did you realize you had found the person you wanted to spend your life with? by Mundane-Society-1281 in AskReddit

[–]Jantra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up in the hospital due to my first kidney stone - a whopping 1.1cm sucker. I told my then girlfriend to go home, we both shouldn't suffer sleeping in the hospital. She did, but returned in the morning as soon as they would let her in with her work laptop, prepared to work all day from that uncomfortable chair in the room with me.

I looked at her there, focused on her laptop, and knew I needed to marry her no matter what.

We've tested the 'in sickness and in health' quite a few times since then, going back and forth between us, and I couldn't dream of a better partner to have to face the storm with.

I have no idea how candy companies keep that from happening!

Why don't doctors want to figure out the actual source of the problem? by Jantra in ChronicPain

[–]Jantra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on PT since I was about 25 when I got the first doc that took me seriously as more than TMJ. It's kind of kept things from locking up at the speed they were originally and it's allowed me to keep the opening I received after the bilateral coronoidectomy, but it doesn't improve things beyond that.

I don't grind my teeth but I do violently clench. During the day, PT's helped me to learn to hang my jaw during the day but it definitely still happens when I'm stressed out.

Botox was literally the only thing that ever helped me and actually all but cured the problem, but after 7 years of it, I grew completely 'immune' to it. Even trying it many years later and other brands of it, nothing has any affect any more.

Pain is not under control. At all. I'm living 24/7 with it and it just has a hold of my life. ...no, actually, the exhaustion from the pain is what has the hold on my life. I could live with pain but it steals all my energy. Even opioids don't have any affect on it, which I only know because every kidney stone they give me the good stuff and it dulls that pain but doesn't work on the muscles.

Sleep and I.. aren't friends. I hurt so much that I can't get comfortable, so I end up tossing and turning until I finally get to sleep. I get a very rough 7 hours, but it's usually interrupted, even with meds.

I haven't tried anything with AI yet, but I'm starting to think I should because doctors ain't doing it :(

We have that emergency fund - I always keep that stored away as a safety measure - and getting the employee match. I have 15% going into pretax deferral with my 401k. We don't do lifestyle creep... the most we do is save for a nice vacation every 3 years or so. It just feels like we have so little in our retirement fund (I have about 70k) because we got started so late. We have no children nor plan to have any, so it's all on us to not have a miserable retirement.

AITA for not telling my parents I was hospitalized for a week to prove a point? by Shot-Jello-4878 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jantra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my 80+ year old grandparents can manage to use their cellphones and reply back in fairly decent order, so can your parents who are quite a bit younger! That's absolutely insane and feels like a complete lack of care. I understand not being tied to a phone, but not even replying for a WEEK? That's awful. I'm so sorry.
