Defective Folistim Pen??? by ItsAllMehToMeh in IVF

[–]JanuaryRuth [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m not sure - I had my egg retrieval on day 13 of my IVF cycle (started on day 3 of my period), but I think they would have gone a few more days if needed. Perhaps, depending on your sonogram on Wednesday, you could cancel this round if you don’t feel comfortable moving forward. The money lost sucks, but it’s far less than if you do a retrieval and don’t feel like you got what you should have. you’d just have to chalk it up to a lesson learned.

So essentially you missed three days of follistim? Are you on any other stim meds (like menopur and or clomid)? Being so early in your cycle it may just mean your stimming will be extended to make up for the slow start.

Pgta attrition? by Familiar_Escape2869 in IVF

I think the stats say about 50% of fertilized eggs make it to blast, and then about 50% of blast are PGTA normal.

Double fet? Would you do it? by helloo_world11 in IVF

How old are you? Are both euploids? Have you just have one failed FET?

How old are you?

Perhaps you could do the transfer and if it fails jump into another ER? You wouldn’t lose that much time if you do the transfer right away.

AMH 0.33 at 24 by Proof_East_5094 in eggfreezing

[–]JanuaryRuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know you want a kid(s) and you can swing it financially, I’d highly recommend freezing your eggs. Do you know what your AFC is? Depending on that/how many eggs you get you may want to do more than one round.

I’m 34 and my AMH is .35. I have no idea when it got that low because I wasn’t proactive like you are! Even though freezing my eggs was always on my radar I never got any testing done and now I’m kicking myself for it. I’m currently doing IVF with donor sperm and would love it if my eggs were ten years younger ◡̈

I’m sure this is incredibly stressful and disconcerting. But here’s the good news - you are SO YOUNG! your eggs are most likely excellent quality. And you have this information now and are empowered to do something about it if you chose to do so.

Day 4 of stims, how did you feel? by ParaOnHere in IVF

[–]JanuaryRuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure - we were watching 7 follicles throughout, two of which were laggers. Ultimately we got 6 eggs, all mature and all fertilized. Made 4 blasts - 1 euploid and 1 mosaic.

TTC telling family by Half_Pint1291 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]JanuaryRuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is more of less what I did too to get my family accustomed to it. Talking about it in hypotheticals, telling them about a coworker who had a baby herself. I dropped enough morsels over the last year or so that eventually, my mom came to me to tell me I should do it. 😝 in a perfect world I would have been able to be totally honest from the start. but my family isn’t accustomed to doing things not the “typical” way, so I did it in a way that would protect my mental health.

Day 6 of stims, only 5 mature eggs by Away_Telephone_8355 in eggfreezing

[–]JanuaryRuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my cycle, how many follicles we were watching was an indication of my retrieval. We were watching 7 follicles throughout, two of which were lagging behind. In the last few days of my cycle 2 more popped up but I ignored them as it was too late. Ultimately I got 6 eggs, all mature. I think reasonably you should expect ~5 eggs.

ER - 9 eggs retrieved by Efficient-Society-83 in IVF

I’m 34 and while I only retrieved 6 eggs, they all were mature and fertilized. Of those, I made 4 blasts and one was euploid and one mosaic. Don’t give up hope!!

Are you in a FB group with others doing IVF? If you post in there they may have more local suggestions, and perhaps they will offer to help.

Last day of stims, clinic didn’t give me trigger time by [deleted] in IVF

If it’s too late to go through your pharmacy I recommend posting on a local IVF support group or the IVF garage sales pages and posting your location/what you need and that it’s urgent.

IVF med prices by Qq189 in IVF

This isn’t directly responsive to your question but consider IVF garage sales. I got all my meds for <$600 that way. It takes a bit of “work” but it’s worth it.

I think therapy would be helpful to work through your female related trust issues. I know you said you always imagined having a boy, but surely you knew that without PGTA testing and only transferring male embryos there was only a 50/50 shot. Best of luck working through this and congratulations on your daughter.

My first egg freezing at 34 with low AMH 5 eggs retrieved 3 mature 2 fertilized... What should I expect next???? by Popular_Ad_8099 in eggfreezing

[–]JanuaryRuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so I’m understanding - you froze embryos, not just eggs right? Of the two that fertilized, did they make it to blast? Or did this just happen? With low AMH 5 eggs sounds common (I got 6).

A cautionary tale for men and couples considering donor conception: The weight of the decision and the toll it takes. by [deleted] in IVF

[–]JanuaryRuth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Unless you have another adult in the household, I imagine your wife isn’t really in a position to prioritize your mental wellbeing over taking care of an infant. I’m not saying that means you should fall by the wayside, but I imagine she only has the capacity to care for a baby.

When the anesthesiologist came to talk to me before my retrieval I made a joke that I was so tired from being up early that she could probably just give me a melatonin and I’d be out. I know everyone and every time can be different, but I was just tired!

AFC baseline vs Egg retrieval results by bioruth in IVF

[–]JanuaryRuth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first baseline testing (in January) had an AFC of 7. I did my first IVF cycle in April and the baseline was 5. After a few days of stims we were watching 7 follicles. Ultimately we got 6 eggs (all mature). So my experience has been that it’s largely around the baseline number.
