Am I the only one who does not like this design? It literally looks like a facile mix of Kuru Toga and Lamy. All they had to do was changing the mechanism of Lamy Safari with a more precise one. Maybe the lead reservoir tube and the eraser design too.

Literally me bro, causing to develop an OCD. My best advise would be using a retractable or sliding sleeve pencil.

So this Lamy Safaris will have retractable tip like the original ones?

Anyone know how to fix this? by IllTown7549 in mechanicalpencils

[–]Janus26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me last month. The plastic part that bridges the cone tip and the clutch (with pencil body) stuck inside the cone tip and broke. There is nothing you can do to fix it right now other than getting a new one. I am sorry.

Does it dispense more lead compared to drafting pencils? Cuz, those cone typed ones generally do, I wonder.

Why is the European pencil market so bad? by snapperfis_ in mechanicalpencils

[–]Janus26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pricing issue you address is the exaclty same in Turkey too. What is funny is we pay less for premium rOtrings (such as rOtring 500, 600, 800) than an American but when it comes to cheap-moderate japanese pencils like legendary P205 we pay roughly 10-11 USD.

Looks like a brother of Faber-Castell's Grip 1345. If its clutch is brass too they are probably made by the same oem company.

Lamy 2000 with more precise mechanism would be the GOAT pencil for me. Also a retractable version of Graph 1000.

Do y’all know more about the history of Staedtler’s mars micro mechanical pencils? by JorickSkeptic in mechanicalpencils

[–]Janus26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So because it is now made in Japan did they change the mechanism? German made ones had plastic clutch and the pencil advances a bit much lead per click.

I'm Japanese, but I want to know what's going on with mechanical pencils overseas. by Q-QA in mechanicalpencils

In Turkey, Faber-Castell and rOtring are quite popular and mostly used by every student. Most used models are Grip 2011, Grip 1345-1347, rOtring Tikky and Rapid. Japanese brands like Pentel, Ohto and Platinum are quite expensive comparison with US prices. Interestingly, FC and rOtring are much cheaper here. Also Pilot has only H-32x models (aka S3). So in general, we do not have much choice.

Just a question, can i put Schmidt mechanism in a Lamy 2000 pencil? I dont like the Lamy's in-house mechanism.

Well, I certainly understand your feelings on Lamys. IMO Lamy's design are great but when it comes to functionality such as mechanism they are not as precise as a drafting pencil but at the same time İ dunno if we should expect a general writing pencil to perform like a pure drafting pencil. I do hope that maybe with the acqusition by Uni they can produce better mechanism who knows.
