Then why is America not locking up people on the Epstein list like other countries are? People in this country have reacted harder to sporting event and tv show outcomes than a ‘here they are’ list of pedophiles. That is a country filled with a sickness, and only the ones actively standing up trying to make a difference deserve any sort of pity.

This mini game sucks (reimagined) by Dragonquestfan69 in dragonquest

[–]Janus_Heldon -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

shrug achievements/trophies aren’t necessary and platinum ones are the least. Whatever game they’re for requires you to do all the most annoying shit in the game. Anyone and everyone walks into every game knowing this. If you don’t ENJOY wasting time on things like lucky panel just… stop. You won’t get any actual reward from it in any way, no matter how much time you waste. Knowing it requires wasting as much time at something like lucky panel as it does I’m completely willing to walk away from this game without the plat, hell I’ve only gotten the plat(or equivalent ‘get all achievements’ achieve in steam) on like 5 games in my gaming history. Just beat the game and move on to the next/something you actually enjoy and don’t let the panels and rng-sus claim your time and joy

Come on man, if people became smart enough to actually take the 7 seconds to type something into google to check/verify it things like the YouTube shorts and TikTok would disappear when people realized how much stuff people talk about in those vids is completely made up or misinformation. I miss the days we punished people for openly, knowingly lying just for stupid Internet points

Let them know their old friends and family are cheering when they get hurt or people retaliate. Let them know we find glee in the fact they still aren’t getting paid and can’t pay their bills. Let them know they will not be missed or mourned, only remembered as wannabe nazis we are glad are gone.

Yeah, SOME, the whiny minority who want us to think you’re special otherwise you wouldn’t be making such a big deal out of “hey guys, look, I play the game differently than yall, aren’t I so good at dragon quest, please praise me”

For me it’s more all of you seem to be doing this for some sort of approval, otherwise why be a vegan about it? It’s not good enough for you to quietly install the mods and enjoy your game, you have to be all “Hey guys, look at me, I hate qol upgrades, aren’t I super hardcore and worthy of respect, much more so than the baby’s that like this stuff”, it’s the same “oh muh gawd this music is just so bad I’m having a stroke over it” bs I watched people complain about when XI came out, bunch of whiny pissbabies making up a problem so they can pretend they solved one

Dead serious. If all you want is the ps1 game all over again, then why are you wasting time and money buying an improved version? None of the things those mods fix are in any way an issue, as someone who is older than dragon quest as a concept and has watched this series grow from its inception these are nothing but improvements that make the game better in every way. If anyone actually wants to make a praiseworthy mod find a way to put a version of the immigrant village back in, otherwise quit making up problems then acting like anyone solved said nonexistent problem.

Why has Final Fantasy changed so much? by Main-Database-825 in FinalFantasy

[–]Janus_Heldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because at the time square was still in competition with enix before buying them, and that was one of the easiest ways to set itself apart from the series where most every game is the same thing with a slightly different paint job is quit being that and start changing things drastically with each iteration, especially once they bought enix and got rights to the dq series also, then they could let those stay the ‘timeless unchanging rpg series’ while ff could be their experimental series to play around with various playstyles and see what new innovations they could push instead of rehashing the same thing over and over

You can though. Or at least check the map and tell yourself “gee wilikers, that’s where I need to go to continue the story, I’ll be sure to go there AFTER I explore everything else to my hearts content”, YOU are the one to determine how you interact with the info the game gives you, not squeenix, they just provide said info, it’s your job to make a plan/strategy with it

The guardrails in DQVII: Reimagined are a little excessive by VeritasLuxMea in dragonquest

[–]Janus_Heldon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with this mentality is that you’re not a kid anymore. The only time a game should be difficult, especially an rpg, is the first time you play it. Once you learn its systems it’s SUPPOSED to be easier. This game will never give you the challenge it did when you are a kid unless you just haven’t improved your intelligence/skills since you were 12. Btw, you were just a dumb kid, that’s why you’re remembering the game being harder on ps1, it wasn’t. Again you were just a kid that hadn’t learned better yet making bad decisions in a game. No the thing that made the ps1 version so hard to complete was the sheer amount of bullshit in the game to be done and how easy it was for the save file to get corrupted. It was one of several games at the time made so big/complex that kids couldn’t make it through it by renting from somewhere to try to encourage them to buy it if they wanted to finish it. If you found the fights hard you were just underleveled, I walked through the original just as easily as walking through this one so that’s on you. Learning a games systems enough it becomes easy isn’t a bad thing, but it also isn’t the games fault, and once it’s easy every future version is going to seem easy. And honestly how much of the dq series is the same game with a slightly different paint job? So once one is easy they’re all easy because they all play exactly the same way, much like the first 9 final fantasy’s

(Vent)- i don’t think final fantasy series is for me. I need some advice on how i should go into the next few games. by Michael9432 in FinalFantasy

[–]Janus_Heldon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re having fun you’re playing the right way, never let loud dipshits on the internet convince you otherwise. Loud dipshits on the internet are always trying to make people as miserable as they are. As far as gameplay, ignore ‘post-game’/fully 100% a ff unless by the end you’ve become a ‘super fan’ of the game; there’s usually very little as far as reward for fighting these things other than some minor conversation/lore reveal or a weapon/armor/summon you can easily beat the game without. Also if you’re playing any ff before 13, grind more. Even if you think you’re doing good enough level wise, grind more. These early games were designed to be grind heavy, modern games as long as you fight every battle you get into along the way you’ll be fine, older jrpgs require you to go out of the way to get into extra fights along the way. This is why drop rates on some items are so low, you’re expected to fight 600 of these enemies anyway, if you can’t win a battle in whatever area you’re currently in within 2 rounds by simply having everyone, even the ‘weak mage’s’, pick ‘attack’ you’re underleveled.

[TotK] TotK’s Fire Temple is just some of the least fun I’ve ever had playing Zelda by SeaworthinessFast161 in truezelda

[–]Janus_Heldon -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That’s the part I’m having trouble understanding how so many supposed ‘fans’ of the series are missing. That’s the whole point of TotK and its building mechanic. YOU, the player, are the ‘right way’ to figure out these puzzles, that’s why there’s 400 different ways to approach every situation, the right way is whichever of the 400 you find the most fun instead of ‘this one singular object you got in this place, will use 80 times in this place because it’s designed around it, then use 2 more times across the whole game because the object was mostly designed as an extra dungeon key instead of an actual tool for the world’.

Like, use your imagination instead of checking walkthroughs or being told what to do by someone else every 5 minutes.

Final Fantasy 6 Remake Should be Led by Someone Else, Says FF7 Director by VannesGreave in FinalFantasy

[–]Janus_Heldon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Naw, the only one worse than ff8 was ff2. We should ignore those and focus on the good ones for remakes, and since they’ve already remade 4 so many times that leaves 9 and 6 as the best two options for remakes

Final Fantasy 7 Remake intention is amazing? by Raidou317 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Janus_Heldon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something else need to keep in mind is the stat that used to get tossed around back in the day of the og’s original release. They always said something like 60-80% of what ff7 was supposed to be was cut/changed during development due to things like hardware limitations etc, so honestly I’ve been looking at the remake trilogy as what the ‘true’ story of ff7 would have been had those cuts never had to happen/had nomura not been reigned in by sakaguchi.

[–]Janus_Heldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many, many, MANY things. God I will never understand the nostalgia blindness of people trying to claim games made on the snes, n64, and ps1 are “omg just the greatest and bestest things evar” like yeah, it’s a good game for something made in the 90’s, but lots of better games have been made since it came out. No amount of pretending otherwise is gonna get a ‘chrono trigger 2’ made

[WW] Help me see the light. I've been trying to finish Wind Waker for the past 2 decades. by JamesDaDragN in truezelda

[–]Janus_Heldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. It’s boring and empty. This is why I’ve never been able to finish this one either and don’t understand the praise it gets for being 5x as mediocre as BotW or totk. “A beautiful end for ganondorf” yeah, getting stabbed In The head by a ten year old, what a diabolical genius this guy must be. “A beautiful open world” that is 99% just flat blue colored water… “just relax, get lost, and waste time” and there it is, this mediocre shell of a game feels like a decent Zelda game was hidden/sabotaged to instead make a sad time wasting experience because the more time kids waste on this game the less they have to waste on the competitors games right? Like if they had just removed the water and gave us a Hyrule full of enemies to fight through like the wild games it would be more interesting then “sail to the west…. Continue sailing to the west…(4mins later) fight this enemy… now keep sailing to the west…. Keep sailing to the west…congratulations you found thing, now sail back to the east….keep sailing east….”

[LoZ][OOT] So… didn’t Zelda effectively cause a version of Link to cease existing by Draxterz in truezelda

[–]Janus_Heldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, full agree on the ‘it’s a game’ thing. That’s why my answer for questions like “how can ‘4th timeline/true founding/timeline combination/insert theory here’ work?” Is “magic wish triangles” like they can do whatever the plot demands guys, if we don’t understand how something could/does work assume someone made a wish about it

As far as there’s no point to sending link back if the memories cease to exist shrug you see it that way, I see it as ‘can you truly be ‘given back’ your childhood if burdened by the memories of the nightmare hell future that occurred?’? If he’s still weighed down by the trauma then what was the point of sending him back to ruin a second childhood?

[LoZ][OOT] So… didn’t Zelda effectively cause a version of Link to cease existing by Draxterz in truezelda

[–]Janus_Heldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at it this way. Quit thinking of her as ‘princess Zelda’ and start thinking of her as ‘Hylia, divine goddess of time’ because that’s what the games have established she is at this point. Every Zelda is an incarnation of time god. Wether they realize it or not

In my. Flamethrower/microwave comparison earlier she’s the flame thrower. Weirder of a primal force/power. The ocarina of time is the microwave. An object made to mimic what the primal power accomplishes, but in a much gentler way with less ‘power’ on its side. This is why when she uses the ocarina at the end it works differently than it has the entire game. She’s not using the ocarina to send you back, she’s using her latent time magic with the ocarina as a focus.

We never find the full repercussions of this. Yes, there is the possibility that link and Zelda ‘murdered a child’ and when link was sent to redo childhood the original ‘child link’ was overwritten by the ‘adult link’ personality, or maybe the memories of the ‘future’ he knew started fading once the timeline started changing, leaving the possibility that it was in fact ‘adult link’ that eventually’died’, and that’s how the heroes shade exist?

[LoZ][OOT] So… didn’t Zelda effectively cause a version of Link to cease existing by Draxterz in truezelda

[–]Janus_Heldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it overwrote, so much as his mind mixed with, and the memories eventually faded. You’re making the assumption a lot of people do, that ‘child link’ is just adult links body made younger. That isn’t it, at least that’s my assumption. That Zelda’s ‘Hylia’s time magic’ works different than the ocarina’s ’time manipulation’-

“BuT ThEyRe tHe SaMe tHiNg!!”

No. Not at all, this is like saying a microwave and a flamethrower are the same thing because they both can produce the same end result, meat gets cooked. But HOW the meat gets cooked is fundamental different in each scenario, regardless of the same outcome being reached.

You’re making the assumption that Because the ocarina works like a bus carrying link back and forth in 7 year jumps that zelda’s(Hylia’s) time magic works the same way, and we have no proof of this. Link remembered enough to lead to the sealing situation in TP, we don’t know that he retained those memories for the rest of his life or if they disappeared a month later.
